This is Tarja Turunen the original singer/co-founder of the band. This was her last concert with them as they gave her a letter right after this firing her. A horrible thing to do in my opinion, but that was many years ago ( 2005 ) and Tarja has a wonderful solo career!

If you see Nightwish's last concerts, there is no harmony anymore. They play down their concerts, hardly any interaction between the band members and not even a common bow to the audience at the end. In contrast, Tarja and Marko's joint tour this year. They smile, laugh, hug and have fun. Marko looks as if he has been freed from a great burden and Tarja plays confidently with the audience.
@@AndreasLingelmann Years ago, i heared about a new band with a dark and poetic name: Nightwish!!! I joined their amazing songs and i adored the siren singer Tarja! Suddenly after years an open letter and this was the end.Now if i look at the photo of this band i wonder who are they? A totally new band.Greetings from Greece!

It is actually kinda ironic that you are asking here when did they change singers... the answer is right after this concert, this song was the last song Tarja ever sang in Nightwish.
She got fired after this concert. The reasons behind it are very complicated, so I won't get into it now. But it had nothing to do with her singing abilities. This was in 2005.
It did take them a bit of time to find a new singer. After Tarja came Anette Olzon. Then, in 2012-13, she was replaced by Floor Jansen, who is the current singer of Nightwish.
To help you distinguish the singers from each other:
Tarja has the most operatic sounding voice and she also has more darker tone than Floor and Anette. Anette has a more poppier voice and quite bright tone. Floor kinda does it all... but mainly she has a more rockier sound to her voice than the other two. Also, Floor is quite a lot taller than the other two... that can also help you.😊
Then timewise:
Anything before 2006 is with Tarja. Everything between 2007-2011 and part of 2012 is with Anette.
And onwards from 2013 is with Floor (including the Wacken 2013 performance🥰)
And yes, they still make music. Infact there is a new album coming out this year. 😄 Their music is quite different from what it once was, but they are still very popular.

If this video is taken from the "End of an Era" DVD from 2005, Tarja was fired within hours of this recording (Hence the name of the DVD).
In 2003 Tarja decided she would not stay with the band forever. The living on a tour bus got to her. She decided would do 2 more tours with the band, but she would no longer travel on the tour bus. During the first of those tours, the band discovered traveling on the bus with one band member missing wasn't working for them. It climaxed when on a band-meeting on the bus (without Tarja) it was decided to add a dozen concerts to the tour. Tarja was furious the tour got extended without even asking her opinion and tried to have those concerts cancelled. At that moment the rest of the band was decided that that tour was going to be her last tour. They continued the planned tour and fired her after the last concert. She was with he band 1996-2005
Then came Anette (2007-2012). Then came Floor (2012-present day)
