A bit like that yeah. Tarja is just singing the lyrics in my opinion, where Floor uses the lyrics to tell the audience a story. She is a real storyteller. She understands and feels the meaning of the lyrics and knows how to bring it to the listeners.

Possibly, when Marco said he was holding his voice, he was referring to singing with Anette. Marco did not hold his voice when he sang with Tarja. For example, watch The Phantom of the Opera. I've never seen Marco use the power of his voice as much as in that performance.
@asdas saddasd Wow, I never read comments like that and I really disagree with them. Tarja's voice is quite audible on The Phantom of the Opera, even more so than Marco's at times. Tarja may not need to use a microphone to sing in a theater. Usually lyrical singers don't use it.
@asdas saddasd The analysis really ends up being biased by personal taste, I agree with you. However, when I referred to a powerful voice, I meant about the volume of the sound. Marco and Tarja's styles are completely different, but the two have very good vocal power. Because of that, I believe that when Marco said he contained his own voice, I think he meant Anette. The quality of the Wacken 2013 show is just so good. But beyond that and beyond the actual vocals, there is a unique togetherness and magic in this Wacken show.
Floor...all day every day. And it's not just the voice, it's the chemistry with the rest of the band, the attitude, stage presence and extra little touches that she brings to every performance.
Yep this. Tarja is legitimately an amazing, peerless singer. But Floor is not simply a goddess tier singer she is a vibrant performer who brings a flair to the stage and invokes a spirit into every song which provides even more life to these amazing compositions, and she clearly also has a great stage relationship with the other band members and the entire concert vibe is happy and fun. Which is not to say that Tarja didn't have fun and perform amazingly on stage but Floor simply brings another level to it.
Tarja has a great voice but I prefer Floor’s voice cause of her versatility & chemistry with the rest of the band. A perfect fit, a match made in heaven if you ask me!!
Tarja was one dimensional with only the operatic version in every song. Floor can bring so much more changes to the songs with her versatility to growling to operatic...Floor should have been from the beginning the 2nd singer for Nightwish they would have been huge already from 2008 and not 2013...
@@thamor4746 dude, what planet are you from? Nightwish hasn't produced a proper album since Floor, all great albums are from Tarja's era plus one with annete. And one thing Tarja had that floor doesn't: the ability the reach inside you and rip your heart out with her voice. No amount technical mastery can replace that.
@@mralireza931 we all have our own preferences. Me and many others feel that Floor does reach into our souls. She sings with all the emotion she has inside her. I always get goosebumps/Floorgasms when she sings. You have this feeling with Tarja and that is great 👍🏻 No need to “attack” other fans with a different opinion. And I do love the last NW album actually.
@@mralireza931 Your opinion is really confusing, you are saying only Tarja albums were great with Anette's albums and at same time you ignoring me saying that Floor should have been their 2nd singer and those 2 Anette albums would have been much better received. I am from Finland and been listening to them from 1997 Angels Fall First, Tarja was great for her time/era, but Floor for myself after these long years is better. Because she can sing with so much variety. You are saying Endless Forms Most Beautiful (2015) isn't a good album that is your opinion. I feel it's as good as the old ones, you live with the progress of the band. So what planet are you from?
"She's part of the band" - You absolutely hit the nail on the head. As unbelievably talented as Tarja was (is) and as much as she interacted with the band, I never got the feeling that she was part of the band. She always seemed to stand somewhat apart from them - not physically but in attitude. I am not putting Tarja down - I love her and her voice, but Floor is genuinely part of the band.
Agree. As much as I love the other singers for their own unique things about them. Floor has this stage presence that truly meshes with the band and really the audience too. I've not seen anything like it. In her version of I want my tears back in 2018 at wacken She really connects with he audience as well. Makes me as the viewer even feel like I'm there and also cared for. Pretty cool energy she has.
I love Floors voice it just has so much emotion in it whenever she sings and then her blending with Marco is just perfect, nothing to take away from Tarja she is a great singer and performer but if I have a choice, which I have, I prefer to listen to Floor's versions. Thanks for the great reaction!
As much as I love Tarja, and I do love her truly, it's undeniable that Floor is on a very different level. She's technically flawless and so versatile. And I agree with you when yoy say that Floor seduces you with her voice, she's beyond!
Both have beautiful strong voices. I like both versions. But in my opinion, there are two differencies. First i think, that beyond their well-trainded voices, Floor can awake much more better different emotions in all songs and in consequence at the listeners. That brings me to the second obvious difference. The music of Nightwish lightens the voice of Tarja, but Floor brings the music to shine!
I agree the shear joy the have is so captivating. You two MUST look at their Buenos Aires performance in 2015 of I want my tears back, I have never seen such interaction, pleasure and joy on stage....🤘🤘
In this song, Tarja and Marko have moments of sheer gorgeousness singing together but it isn't the continual melding the that you get with Floor and Marko. It takes one hell of a band not to be overpowered by the talent of each of these members.
I love Tarja, but all opera gets old to me after a while. I love how Floor can be operatic, but still bring more of the metal aggression sometimes. Many times when Tarja is singing opera with that angelic voice, Floor is belting out with max power. It gives the music a heavier edge in my opinion. Tuomas is in the perfect situation for his writing abilities to take his musical creations in any direction possible. Peace out.
Agreed. There is definitely a time when the operatic is most suitable, and there are many times when it is NOT. All the songs seem to blend into the same song when you hear the same vocal style all the time.
I can't count how many times i have heard the song and others by Floor, the songs performed by her never get bored, every time you notice something new, fresh, they are all multi-layered with different colors and brightness, Flor does not just sing, she plays a role, tells a story, Tarja is not bad, but monotonous and not artistic. But the most important thing in the songs is their author Tuomas, it is his composing talent that allows both Floor and Annette and Tarja to shine
Nice reaction! And nice t-shirts too. :D The Tarja performance you picked is from End of an era, very good show indeed, but also the last one with Tarja performing with Nightwish, she was fired right after this. So the differences between them had already grown to their climax at that point. Its clear to see that she is indeed a bit more distant from the guys there. That whole show is quite interesting to watch with the historie of Nightwish in mind. Whenever you get to Poet and the pendulum that whole situation will be interesting to research. Personally I love that we have multiple and quite different versions of these same songs to enjoy now. To me both are equally enjoyable. :)
I'm OG Nightwish fan, since Oceanborn, so Tarja was our original goddess :) It was so sad to see them let her go, but for understandable reasons. Nightwish magic looked ruined forever with Anette, cause she couldn't do any of that Tarja stuff from first 5 albums. Thankfully Tuomas realized this experiment isn't working (although she was good for those two studio albums but terrible for live). Bringing Floor to the band was brilliant move, she really resurrected Nightwish and gave them another dimension, and she can sing everything from any Nightwish era. I'd agree she is better and more diverse vocalist than Tarja, but I loved Tarja's operatic voice with Nightwish music so much, made them totally unique. But I cannot be happier we have Floor now, I cannot imagine anyone else doing what she does, I hope she never leaves
I think it's the combination of her operatic tone and accent that makes it more difficult. Floor's annunciation is so clean. She has a neutral accent when singing making almost impossible to figure out whether she's European or American. It's that clarity that I think has given them more attention globally than Tarja was able. Their American fan base has exploded exponentially with her being able to sing without any obvious foreign accent. This was obvious even back in the 70's and 80's with the British Invasion. Iron Maiden is a good example, among others. Like it or not, that's how it's been and will probably continue.
This is in no way meant to disrespect Tarja in any way. She was the original and is a great vocalist in her own right but in my opinion it’s simply not fair to compare anyone to Floor because she’s incomparable! Truly like bringing a knife to a gunfight, especially live where she reigns supreme as the undisputed queen of metal, again in my opinion. I’ve watched this entire Wacken 2013 show several times and she is literally flawless on every single song as is the entire band!
@@mralireza931 Respectfully disagree. Tuomas founded the band. He wrote the songs . He composed the songs. He is the leader of the band. It is Nightwish and NOT. .. Tarja and Nightwish.
I only discovered Nightwish a few months ago and started by listening to Wacken 2013 and later concerts. While all three singers have versions of songs I like best since I started listening to Nightwish with Floor as a singer, for most songs I like her versions best. However, I am not sure these comparisons serve any purpose. Everyone should pick the version they like best and saying that one is better than the other is pointless. Taste is personal and we all have different preferences. There is also the factor that people develop and grow as well as the different times in which the songs were created/performed. The expectations and tastes of the public/fans were different. Most importantly I feel that comparing different performers is pointless in general and creates an "us versus them" vibe where people start defending their preference/taste because they may feel attacked because all people want to belong to the "winning/best team.
On a scale of 10, Tarja's probably an 8. Floor however, is a 100. I only found NW a little over a year ago, but I am sure I would never have been a fan in the Tarja era. She's talented, no doubt, but her stage vibe is a tad creepy and as you said, I've never seen a video with her where she looks comfortable within the band. Maybe I'm prejudiced by the known history, but she looks like a loner up there. Floor however, looks like what you'd imagine if you played a track without vocals and said "who should be the lead vocalist?" Everything about her fits and I think makes NW complete.
Those of us who became fans in that Tarja years find it a little harder to really get into Floor. She’s talented sure but you can find a lot of female vocalists who can belt. Not a lot of pure operatic singers.
@@rburnsiv No, "those of us" do not necessarily share your opinion. I got hooked on Nightwish during the Tarja-era, stopped following them when she got dismissed and never really thought I'd be listening to post-Tarja NW. Floor proved me wrong. Judging from many of the posts here on YT, I sincerely doubt that my case is in any way unique - heck, this channel's owners listened to NW during the Tarja years and apparently have no difficulties "getting into" Floor. As for Floor's skills, are you actually suggesting that belting is all she can do? And Tarja is not a "pure operatic" singer, she's a lied singer - however, I get your point and it really just boils down to personal preference. As for myself, I consider Nightwish a very dynamic band that benefits from having a very dynamic singer.
Tarja has an amazing voice, but I like to listen to Floor for a number of reasons. First off, Floor is an amazing story teller, because you can feel the emotion she is putting into her songs. Secondly, she gives credit to her band mates, as well as the crowd, so she comes across as a humble super star. Third, I'm just a sucker for the whole Valkyrie Goddess look. haha. Thank you for reacting to Nightwish.
Tarja was the opera singer that sang with Nightwish. But Floor is part of the band that has an operatic voice. Marko just kills it. I think his singing is underrated. Marko and Floor singing together is what makes this song.
Floor is screaming and her voice sounds thin at higher notes while Tarja maintains her warm/lusciousness/haunting even at higher notes. Tarja introduced me to symphonic metal.
When Traja is singing with Marko it is a fanastic backing fill. When Floor sings with Marko, she gives him a mountain to stand on ( I have said the later before, but this vid really brings it into focus).
It is hard to not love Tarja, but I am forever Floor... ever since After Forever... She has always blown me away... Tarja is lovely to hear, but for *ME* I prefer Floor.
I really do not like when people "compare" them. They are both amazing in what they do. Just enjoy them both and stop trying to pit them against each other!
We do apologize if that is what you got from our video. It was never our intention to pit them against each other. We have just never heard Floor's version of one of our favorite songs, so wanted to get an idea of how she made the song her own. This was in no way intended to pick a favorite or compare capabilities. We are simply discovering a new vocalist to us and appreciate both.
@@SongsandThongs i didn't mean to sound angry towards you two. But originally you titled this reaction video "Comparing" the two versions. After all these years the "fans" need to calm down and carry on. Tarja has an amazing voice and a wonderful solo career and Floor has an amazing voice and is the voice of Nightwish now. Ive loved nightwish for well over a decade... but i think i finally figured something out. Back with Tarja and Anette i loved the studio versions of the music the concerts weren't bad but they were nothing compared to the current Floor era. Floor just sounds better live everything feels more cohesive it just flows.. obviously the band as learned a lot over the years as far as live performances and they have better crews and editors so its not just because Floor is there but i do think she makes a big difference. That is exactly how I feel! I just found them by accident and I haven't gotten past this song. Tarja, Tarja Floor duet, Floor I love them all so it's I'm still loving them. Oh and MARCO is also why I love them!
Marco has said that one of the reasons he loves singing with Floor is that he doesent have to hold back he can give it all when he sings. he doesent have to hold back out of fear of overpowering their voices. with Floor he can give it 100%
The first time I heard Nightwish was with Tarja "Ever Dream" before they split up ...I had goosebumps all over my body her strong and dark voice...I loved her, no singer even Floor could make me relive that
There's no denying Tarja had /has a great voice but she was one dimensional. Floor can do it all and do it beautifully. She is the perfect fit for Nightwish.
"do it all" - as in being the master of nothing, kinda like an heptathlon although competing in many branches, will still never stand a chance to someone who specializes in one particular brand. And it is not the heptathlon who make the strongest impacts, it is the Messi type, Maradona, M. Jordan, M.Phelps, Isinbayeva etc. Those are the ones who become icons, not the generalists.
@@FemaleMetalLover ironicaly that cliche "theory" against generalizing vs specializing, makes most generalizing arguments itself so basically it destoys itself in argument xD
@@FemaleMetalLover actually problems here are assumptions... first one is, because Floor doesn't sing certain song in operatic style she is not specialized at it... which is wrong, her first specialty is operatic singing, it is her first profession after all... for example here is her take on Puccini aria, just check it out: ua-cam.com/video/UeTyAZtV5wI/v-deo.html
@@FemaleMetalLover Why is it that you're so upset if someone says that in his opinion a singer is one dimensional, you might not feel that way but he I guess does and it's his opinion. Also your analogy is flawed, a Messi or Maradonna or Jordan have multiple facets although there are area's they excel in, if we would go by your logic a specialization will be, they're just only there to do penalty kicks, give a pass or only do 3 pointers for basket ball or for american football a field goal kicker. A Maradonna or Messi excel at creativity, passing, scoring and dribbling technique for example. Anywho enjoy your day/evening.
hello, christian from France, I love your completely crazy reactions, I discovered so many bands thanks to you and I enjoy Lovabites and Band Maid, thank you keep it up....
I've only recently gone down the Nighwish rabbit hole, and it was this Wacken Ghost Love Score that took me there. I did go back and watch some stuff with Tarja and felt the same. She seems like something separate from the band as a whole. And separate from the crowd as well. It's hard to explain, but when you've played in bands and seen hundreds more it really stands out. Floor simply commands the stage and acts like some kind of super conductor between the band and audience, and even with no sound you can watch this happen. On top of that, I'm not even sure she was an official member at this show, as she was standing in for Annette who quit halfway in the tour. So Floor is, over the course of this performance, winning over the audience. Is really an amazing thing to watch, and not something that happens very often at all. Fantastic video guys, loved it.
I've always thought of it this way: TARJA - Submarine, deep vocal ability & training that goes for miles, providing the necessary backbone that the navy & band needs. ANETTE - Destroyer, agile, not as much versatility & firepower as the Battleship or Submarine, but providing the necessary support that the navy & band needs. FLOOR - Battleship, versatile & packed with firepower, providing the necessary frontal assault that the navy & band needs. When viewed separately, they all contribute what is needed & more than that cannot be asked for.
I love it when reactors do old and new versions together; how else are you supposed to know and appreciate the differences? Unfortunately it means you have to put up with a lot of the ‘versus’ crap and have still others telling you to ‘stop comparing!’, but whatever. This was fun; thanks!
In first concert you can clearly see that guys were little bit shock and confused cause they knew they gonna fire Tarja after this. But that was good decision 🙏🏻🤘🇫🇮

Tarja is ok i suppose but i never heard of nightwish and then i heard Ghost love score 2013........so for me there is no comparison, Floor Jansen is divine😱so beautiful 😮 Nightwish with Floor Jansen is just breathtaking❤️
You come to basically the exact same conclusion I came to with Nightwish. Tarja is a really good singer, but Floors versatility and her personality fits the actual music and the emotions it tries to transport so much better, that the result is far superior to any single individual can ever be.
I have seen this reaction a couple times now. I picked out something you said about Tarya and Floor. Floor is just so powerful in how she sings. It’s fits the whole band! I would wish that they would remaster some of the old songs with Floor as the singer
They are both amazing singers and beautiful women .... there is no better, just different styles, and Floor, beside being the mesmerizing singer she is, she got into a more mature Nightwish band, Tarja lived the struggling initial days.
Yes. Tarja was in the band during their partying days. The band was much more chill and mature by the time Floor joined. You can’t really compare the relationships. Plus, Tarja and the band members were extremely close before the tension happened. Her and Toumas, especially.
We also can say we’re lucky we could be able to watch and enjoy them via DVD or UA-cam although we couldn’t be there live at Wacken. Yes Tarja (mostly) are off sync. This was one of the issues between NW and Tarja. Especially in the last years Tarja did not attend rehearsals prior to their concerts cause she had other priorities. (See: Open Letter to Tarja Turunen) Someone said once: Tarja is about showing, but Floor is about giving. Finally the band is in total balance now.

Totally agree❣️
Which is not to say that Tarja didn't have fun and perform amazingly on stage but Floor simply brings another level to it.
meh for the comparing. especially when this was the last song tarja performed with the band.
@@thamor4746 👍👍🤟🤟
Tarja is amazing. But Floor...... She is unbelivable good.
You can do the same with the Song "ever dream"
Same Shows
@SteveNL Ghost Love Score is not "her song" either but she nailed it and made it her own :)
Nightwish with Floor simply takes you on a well-being tour
"She's part of the band" - You absolutely hit the nail on the head. As unbelievably talented as Tarja was (is) and as much as she interacted with the band, I never got the feeling that she was part of the band. She always seemed to stand somewhat apart from them - not physically but in attitude. I am not putting Tarja down - I love her and her voice, but Floor is genuinely part of the band.
Tuomas is on video record when asked how Floor was fitting in, he said: "She's home."
But Tuomas himself said that it was intentional. It was agreed between them, to give her a more "mysterious vibe" on stage.
It was obvious from that imfamous letter.
iIt was the version with Tarja that made me love this band so much BUT the version with Floor singing is what i prefer.
@@danielletoscano4509 Well said my friend. 😊
Floorgasm! So many I cant count them... Heck, such perfection, power... fantastic!
No doubt: Miss Floor Jansen Queen of Metal 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Devil & the Deep Dark Ocean and/or Dead Boys Poem Live from Buenos Aires are two oldies Floor crushed - got to check out
Nice reaction! And nice t-shirts too. :D
The Tarja performance you picked is from End of an era, very good show indeed, but also the last one with Tarja performing with Nightwish, she was fired right after this.
The band is happy..they respect eachother..they respect the fans. They all give 100%!! Floor is awesome, our Dutch queen🤘❤️
No doubt Floor gives me goosebumps, with Tarja I have a problem hearing the text.
exacly what i experienced.
15:15 "This chick was meant to be in Nightwish" ....fully agree !
"Floor is my angel"
Marko wins, because he sings in both versions.
When I see Floor it's like I'm crushing on her!? I'm a Floor Girl🖤🖤🖤
Ah floor is just amazing she's a goddess!! She is what they were missing all along
Goddess of Metal, Floor approved it in a interview.
Just wanted to let you know for some of us the exact opposite is true. The true nightwish sound is with Tarja.
@@mralireza931 Respectfully disagree. Tuomas founded the band. He wrote the songs .

@@rburnsiv good for you. Isn’t that life that we have different opinions? ;)
This would be the song that got me into Nightwish back in 2004.
ps floor was with after forever and tarja was in nightwish same tour.
It's so awesome when the cam is on the crowd and you see a bunch of crowdsurfers at the same time. Something magical about it.

Amen to that Bridget. People need to stop this nonsense

Ive loved nightwish for well over a decade... but i think i finally figured something out. Back with Tarja and Anette i loved the studio versions of the music the concerts weren't bad but they were nothing compared to the current Floor era.
@@gothic6662 Opera is not Floors first profession, or specialty. Floors version of that song is good, but Tarja’s is on another level.
This song was the 1st song I heard from Nightwish years ago and just loved them.
Don't like Tarja's singing style. But Floor ... love her!
I've always thought of it this way:
TARJA - Submarine, deep vocal ability & training that goes for miles, providing the necessary backbone that the navy & band needs.

You come to basically the exact same conclusion I came to with Nightwish.
Tarja is a really good singer, but Floors versatility and her personality fits the actual music and the emotions it tries to transport so much better, that the result is far superior to any single individual can ever be.
Dont to say, it's NIGHTWISH......
Great reaction and coments.
The chemestry between Floor and the Band is phenomaly and at this time, Floor was not an officiel member of Nightwish. This becomes in Oktobre 2013.
I have seen this reaction a couple times now. I picked out something you said about Tarya and Floor. Floor is just so powerful in how she sings. It’s fits the whole band! I would wish that they would remaster some of the old songs with Floor as the singer
I have been waiting for your next Nightwish reaction. Keep them coming!!!
In terms of queens ... Tarja is the queen who owns you. Floor is the queen you want because you were a good boy and you know you deserve it. 🤘😎🤘
(See: Open Letter to Tarja Turunen)
Someone said once: Tarja is about showing, but Floor is about giving.
Finally the band is in total balance now.
Unbelievable that you don't do rehearsals.
