I'm actually from Glasgow and can still clearly remember this case. Everyone was just hoping that she had went off somewhere for a few days and would come back safe and explain where she had been but when we heard what had happened to her, everyone was devastated, even people that didn't know her personally where effected by what happened. Here, we see everyone as one of our own, even if you weren't born here or you're a tourist. The city's motto is actually "People make Glasgow" and I like to think that we have that saying for a reason.
Glasgow born and bred... I love this channel but just don’t understand why the giant Scotland flag had to be on the thumbnail when it’s not on any other video 👀 maybe I’m just being stupid. But aye.
This happened in the club I worked in, I don’t think him being remorseful means anything, i hope he never gets out. I always especially look out for women in clubs because of this
It’s likely he was just faking so they’d take pitty and be more lenient on him. The fact he was so cool, calm and methodical throughout his disposing of the body and his questioning as well as his history of crime indicates he’s probably a psychopaths/sociopaths/narcissist. It’s common for psychopaths/sociopaths/narcissist mimic emotions to manipulate people.
It makes me so sad to think that Karen was going to end up being an occupational therapist. The exact type of professional that would have gone on to help people like him walk again after accidents and things. Dunno why but it made my heart sink.

I’m so glad you acknowledged how badly this affected Scotland and especially Glasgow. This was a horrifying case and I think Glaswegians struggled with the fact this had happened. She was such a beautiful girl with such a lot of promise and had came here to improve herself and we like to think we are an extremely friendly welcoming city. It was just horrible and to see her family grieve was just horrendous.
Ladies (and gents!), when you’re on a night out-stick together. Don’t leave each other, keep an eye out for each other. So many cases where people are out, drinking and then one wanders off, leaves or is left behind and they go missing. It doesn’t matter what country you’re in, or how safe you think it is-accidents can happen and obviously there are evil people out there looking to prey on people left alone. Stay together, have fun together, STAY SAFE together 💜
My friend was on a night out with her friends, she was about 23, and they left her there alone. She came into work a few days later covered in cuts all over her face. Luckily, she'd just fallen over. But they all left her, intoxicated, alone, away from home and safety. I've never liked them since. They are not friends. I would and could never do that.
This is why I never ever go out to bars, parties or pubs. Hell, I also never go out alone. I'm 15 and a dormitory student, and let me tell you, it can be scary
So weird I was only talking about this case last week. Karen went to my uni, albeit different schools at the uni. I know a few people that knew Pacteau, they all said he was really weird but would always throw parties when he had an empty house. He just seemed desperate to be popular. His younger siblings had to change schools and identities so that they wouldn’t be targeted in retaliation to him.
Sodium hydroxide is an alkali and it’s really corrosive but it takes a lot of time for it to work as it actually needs time to break down the skin then the organs. Literally we chem students use it often even though it’s corrosive u can spill it on urself and sometimes not even feel it. Even acids take a lot of time to dissolve human flesh. It a common myth that acid dissolves flesh very quickly but it’s literally just a Hollywood myth that movies show for emphasis. Even the most corrosive acids and alkalis don’t dissolve bodies immediately when exposed to flesh. Xx I love ur vids so much I listen to them when revising for my chem degree.
saponification occurs as the end result of the alkali's effect on the dead body. It turns into a soap-like consistency and the human fat literally does become soap. It doesn't need pressure or heat for this to occur.
Interesting. There was a case where a female chemist entrepreneur and her intern/student boyfriend killed her husband. I remember they said she put him in something that dissolved his body. I supposed it could've been something more difficult to get. I dunno this Made me think of it .
i don’t know why, but every time you mention someone having wounds from fighting for their life, my stomach does a weird thing and i start to cry. i just can’t imagine knowing someone is killing you and having to defend yourself from that. it hits different.
@Cindel Marie yes!! This is the comment I was looking for. Obviously just B.S. Also, I've hit my head hard enough a couple of times that I worried I got a concussion... And I still wasn't bleeding. I'd never let anyone just walk out of my house with a bleeding head wound. I'm a woman and I wouldn't let a man walk out like that. The LIES annoy me so much!!! But I guess we should be glad he was that stupid to get caught.
Yes! I needed this comment. What kind of dude is like "I liked her and hooked up but then she got hit super hard and was loosing blood so I was like OK cya" 😅 No take her to a hospital, drive her home, hell call a taxi.. What a douche bag. Its so clear it was a lie. 😅
I found it more weird that a person that wants to visit the toilet sees this guy and thinks yes, I would like to have consensual sex with him, even so much I don't tell my friends about it and just leave. Then goes home with him, sees that non-fitting mattress on the bed frame and still wanna have sex with him and then hurts her head so bad during said sex that it is bleeding and instead of going to the ER went home by foot. They always tell that the woman wanted sex with them so badly, and it is never true and you already know that it is not true when you see pics of the guys compared to the woman.
Yeah I went to go watch it this morning n I was so confused when I couldn’t find it I was like I swear I got a notification yesterday saying she uploaded a new video 😂
When ever I see photos of a person who has been murdered I find myself staring at them for ages, I just find it crazy that they lost their lives in such horrific ways, i just can not get my mind around it.
me and my girlfriends have certain rules that we stick to when going out, especially when people around you are drinking. 1. go to the bathroom in pairs. 2. always make sure you have a small purse which you have on you even while dancing. ( id phone and mace spray) 3. we make sure at least one person is sober (i dont drink so it is usually me) to make informed decisions 4. always know how you can safely return home. avoid public transport at odd times.(my case, i drive everyone home, make sure the are inside the building and then leave) 5. if you catch your drunk friend dancing with someone creepy, take her away. 6. have a group chat in which everyone drops texts whenever the estimated time of arrival is over in case you are taking an uber. 7. we make sure we call someone purposely to make the uber driver know the location and ride is being monitored.
Karen was posthumously awarded her masters of science in occupational therapy which was accepted by her Dad in 2016. This case hit so close to home, I had just started my nursing degree at GCU.
When u go out, man or woman, stay together. Yes, even to the bathroom. How many times have we heard this story and somebody disappeared? Too many. And most of the time it's been men who have never been seen again. I can think of at least five men who disappeared from a club. Go together, stay together.
My mom stepdad and I go to a convention in the city I’m 23 and my stepdad said I could walk to a 2:30 AM concert i had plans to see I don’t care how old someone is nobody should be going anywhere alone especially in the city no matter There age I did not have to go to that concert by myself thankfully
Look up the case of Allan Bryant Jr. He disappeared from a nightclub in Glenrothes in Scotland. Both Joshua Miles and Danelle Hallan have covered his case x
Yeah I live in Massachusetts, there was a girl who went missing and was murdered after her friends left her at the club alone when it was her birthday! She left behind a beautiful baby girl and I will forever remember her story, it was quiet devastating and could have been prevented.
If you are able to go to sleep, 2 nights in a row, having the person you murdered laying on the floor right next to you, then you have no conscience and are unable to feel remorse. Any tears you cry are about you and only you, you could not care less about the victim and her family.
This case always makes me so sad. I was working in a Glasgow nightclub around this time and at the end of the night we would all carpool home. One of the girls lived in the house/cottage directly next to the farm, in order to turn around to go back down the country road after dropping her off we had to pull into the farm and pass the shed where her body was found. It made me feel so uncomfortable and upset knowing Karen had been in there. Poor girl xx
So glad someone has finally covered this case. As a Glaswegian, I remember her being all over Facebook, and having a bad feeling about her. We were devastated as a city and so so sorry for her family.
This happened literally around the corner from me . Still makes me feel sick to my stomach whenever I happen to be passing by that house of horror . I attend GCU & I’ve never been in the Sanctuary since. Just all too close to home. Poor girl, very very sad. 😔❤️
I was in sanctuary the night this happened so this case shakes me to my core. My friend and I were separated for a lot of the night, I can't believe this happened all around us. I went to the vigil in George Sq with her parents, heartbreaking.
as a glaswegian myself, i remember this case so vividly. watching the 6 o’clock news every night hoping that they’d found her safe and watching it the night the news broke that they’d found her. the disbelief and pure heartbreak in my family was unreal as we didn’t know her, but the whole community were hoping and praying for her safe return. amazing video as always eleanor x
I almost completely forgot about this case until this upload. I went to the same university (Glasgow Caledonian), it was a really sad time in university. I remember going to the vigil held for her. It was really shocking 😩

Whenever I have to clean up or do some other job around the house I’m not excited about I just put on another case. I could listen to Eleanor for hours!! I’m still making my way through the videos. Keep up the amazing work
Honestly the thought of someone going missing always makes me cry - last summer I went to Paris with a friend and her work friends. A friend of HER work friend was meant to be joining us out there, and she had travelled on her own. Her phone wasn’t working either due to provider issues. Come 2am she still hadn’t arrived. I can’t tell you the sickness I felt and I didn’t even know the girl! I cried for about 2 hours until she eventually turned up! (She’d been mugged AND a taxi driver f’ed her around) it was the scariest experience of my life and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone!!
The fact that Karen's death might have been avoided if only he was charged for that attempted rape case. The girl probably gathered the courage to press charges against him so that he wouldn't hurt anyone else, but nooo
And second time around he wasn't going to leave a witness. Too bad the courts decided against her and he was able to commit this murder. The judicial system is fucked!

WHY THE SODIUM HYDROXIDE DIDN’T WORK; My google history looks suspicious, but I found out why the sodium hydroxide didn’t work! You actually need to heat it for it to dissolve a body. If pressurized you can get the heat to 300°F and dissolve it in a couple (2-4) hours. If not pressurized you can only get it to about boiling point (212°F) and it can take much longer but still dissolve it within a day.
i mean dude at least see how it works before u do it u are already gonna seem suspicious with the simple google why not go a bit further to see how to use it at least like if ur gonna get in trouble for punching someone then at least punch them hard i heard that somewhere i dont know who said it

Hey Eleanor, I've been watching you for a while and never commented until now but thank you for doing this case. Here, we see everyone as one of our own, even if you weren't born here or you're a tourist. The city's motto is actually "People make Glasgow" and I like to think that we have that saying for a reason.
I went to Caley for erasmus that very same year and yeah, it was devastating. But you are right, people make Glasgow! It felt just like home to me💕
yep! i remember going out for my friends 18th a couple days after and it was all anyone was talking about in the toilets

Dunno why but it made my heart sink.
Imagine being the roommate... Sleeping in the same place as a literal murder and bathing where somebody tried corroding a dead corpse.

And never accept rides from strangers or hitchhike, pls
@@Presca1 Absolutely! I was actually kind of baffled that she accepted a ride from him. That's like the number one safety rule for me.
This is why I never ever go out to bars, parties or pubs. Hell, I also never go out alone. I'm 15 and a dormitory student, and let me tell you, it can be scary
And then you meet vodka
At least they found him rather quickly. Such a shame though. Hope Karen's family can find some sort of peace
@@AwfulDog1 corpse wax from ask a mortician goes into this it’s a hella good video

I'd never let anyone just walk out of my house with a bleeding head wound.

Yes! I needed this comment. What kind of dude is like "I liked her and hooked up but then she got hit super hard and was loosing blood so I was like OK cya" 😅
No take her to a hospital, drive her home, hell call a taxi.. What a douche bag. Its so clear it was a lie. 😅
I think that's how she tell her stories
I found it more weird that a person that wants to visit the toilet sees this guy and thinks yes, I would like to have consensual sex with him, even so much I don't tell my friends about it and just leave. Then goes home with him, sees that non-fitting mattress on the bed frame and still wanna have sex with him and then hurts her head so bad during said sex that it is bleeding and instead of going to the ER went home by foot.
They always tell that the woman wanted sex with them so badly, and it is never true and you already know that it is not true when you see pics of the guys compared to the woman.
I thought the same thing! No one would do that. Drive her, get her a taxi or walk her yourself. Those are the only options

me and my girlfriends have certain rules that we stick to when going out, especially when people around you are drinking.
1. go to the bathroom in pairs.
2. always make sure you have a small purse which you have on you even while dancing. ( id phone and mace spray)
3. we make sure at least one person is sober (i dont drink so it is usually me) to make informed decisions
4. always know how you can safely return home. avoid public transport at odd times.(my case, i drive everyone home, make sure the are inside the building and then leave)
5. if you catch your drunk friend dancing with someone creepy, take her away.
6. have a group chat in which everyone drops texts whenever the estimated time of arrival is over in case you are taking an uber.
7. we make sure we call someone purposely to make the uber driver know the location and ride is being monitored.

When u go out, man or woman, stay together. Yes, even to the bathroom. How many times have we heard this story and somebody disappeared? Too many. And most of the time it's been men who have never been seen again. I can think of at least five men who disappeared from a club. Go together, stay together.

If you are able to go to sleep, 2 nights in a row, having the person you murdered laying on the floor right next to you, then you have no conscience and are unable to feel remorse. Any tears you cry are about you and only you, you could not care less about the victim and her family.
Period.

If not pressurized you can only get it to about boiling point (212°F) and it can take much longer but still dissolve it within a day.
that's actually so interesting, thank you!
It’s kind of ironic that she described it as “kind of like an acid” cause NaOH is a base
Ah so that’s why it’s not working, cheers for the tips
