Unlike your videos of Flint, parts of which I haven't been to in years, if ever, I have traveled these freeways many times - Much of it since you recorded it in mid January. I assure you the area is more scenic in the summer when the leaves are on the trees or the autumn with fall colors. These freeways have seen much reconstruction in the past decade or so and are in much better shape than some of the secondary roads.
The UAW gave Flint workers middle class wages and my father, who worked at Chevrolet for 40 years, was able to provide a stable home in a good area. It is true the UAW got too greedy. In my mind, a long ruinous strike in 1970 was the beginning of the end of GM in Flint. I was fortunate to go to college and get a good white collar job away from the Auto Industry although I had to move to Oakland County to be near my work.
BTW Chris, I was hoping you'd hit 1,000 subs by the end of the year that you were hoping for, but you are almost there now. Hopefully that brings something good.
Good old upper Midwest roads where salt is everything, and everywhere. That's actually what keeps the auto industry going these days, the fact that out cars just eventually disappear.
Another great video Chris. Reminds me of all the time I spent in Flint working for Delphi (Dort Hwy and Davison) . It's also nice to observe someone using traffic lanes properly! Just one fix that I saw, you have Irish road twice at exit 141 and 143. Exit 141 is Belsay. Thanks again!
nice roads with street lights !!! I live in VA and there are very few street lights !!! I lived in the Balt area and the roads were horrible, even the main roads.. Flint roads look excellent.
Sadly the same thing is happening as Stellantis moves out of Belvidere, IL.. Great episode as always and always enjoy the local history and the candid assessment of the community. Speaking truth is the last vestige of free people.. I grew up in a steel town and watched the community fade after the EPA got involved.. You are dead on, community leaders either need to change with the times or allow the city to slowly fade away, Flint seems to be going the latter route right now.
I'm a Belvidere resident and not very happy. Pritzger was trying to set himself up as hero but failed. A little digging and I found that IL bill HB3940 from 2021 might be responsible for Stellantis saying no the Belvidere plant and I don't blame them considering IL seems to only want to make it an EV plant.
Good one on the Almighty UAW freeway. Actually I was surprised to see how decent the freeways are around Flint. I wish GM would help the city that got it started a new battery and EV factory that would help bring some prosperity back.

Not as bad traffic as Florida which does not have a state income tax.Michigan was considering dumping the state income tax but to no avail.

@1:10 Saginaw and Bay City are farther apart than 3 miles. I think the sign should say Saginaw 33 not 43, which would show 13 miles difference.
