I absolutely found this fascinating and instructive on so many levels. Your drone work is so cool you could have your own channel just for that. You really illustrated how vast the industrial complex to the east is. The housing stock is really in very good shape as are the streets with their old fashion decorative lighting. So I ask myself why. Maybe it is because it looks very easy to access Lake Michigan. The parking looks free and there are decent views. In so much of Chicagoland it is much much harder to do this. When one adds in a much better tax situation than Illinois I sense opportunity here despite the adjacent industry. You made the local Chamber of Commerce's case for them!

My grandparents were from Whiting, with many relatives. My grandfather worked for Al Capone, after that retiring from then, Standard Oil. The good ole days. 🍻

Being from Davison and my dad working in Goodrich and family living in Oakland County, I cant even begin to guess how many tens of thousands of times I have driven M-15 between Dixie Hwy and Davison.

Thanks for the memories. My dad grew up in Whiting on Lake St. and you passed by where my grandma lived on 121st between Calumet and Indianapolis. My dad went to Clark H.S., was an usher at the movie theatre in the 40's and worked a year at Standard Oil as a nightshift broom pusher before serving during the Korean War and then going to Indiana U and majoring in accounting. He wrote a book called "Slovaks of Chicago" (which might as well have been "of Whiting"), which is mostly pictures with descriptions. His childhood friend wrote a book called "Seasons of My Childhood" which is excellent, and depicts life in Whiting in the 1930's. Besides going to Grandma's, I have many memories of going to St. John the Baptist Catholic church. My aunt, a Catholic nun, is the only surviving member of my parents' relatives, and had her 50th anniversary celebration as a nun there. I also, really enjoyed your Calumet City tour, as I lived there from the 60's through 90's, then I moved across the border and lived in Hammond until 10 years ago. I'll soon have to check that one out as well.

In the last segment you went down Bradley and then Corunna. If you go again, go to Zimmerman, the Eisenhower units, and Swayze, then cross Miller to Parkside through what we called the rich district. The units and Zimmerman are sad.

Born and raised in Danville. A sad sad story of the times changing. General Electric left, Esco, General Motors,Caterpillar, Windbreaker, Chuckles and the loss of the strip mines. Now Quaker Oats is gone. Jobs that haven't been replaced. Add too that Richard Daley's gentrification of Chicago that send thousands of Urban Section 8 housing families into Central Illinois. Add to the mix absentee landlords and city government not prepared to handle these challenges. A once wonderful place to grow up as you so ineloquently put it in your last video an " armpit"

I'm a Calumet City native from watching these videos I learned about Peoria relocated to Peoria and now live in Wisconsin. Anywhere between or from Stony Island to Clyde from state to Sibley where my old stomping grounds I live 3 hours north in Wisconsin but always will love the hood.... I miss petes fresh market and Nickys gyros everything I needed was within a 3 minute walk . .. it's a suburb but it's a small little fast paced City. Prairie Avenue and Stewart st Cal City

Looks nice, I live here. It's not that bad. Old homes, mature trees. Lots of smaller homes close together. Don't cost a fortune mine was $35K. Had it resided and a new roof. Lots of inside work. I have a garden. I'm older so don't need anything larger.

5:40 What used to be a pretty large steel mill can be seen. My Father worked there many years ago. Before I was born. It was called Wyman-Gordon. Also went to Gordon Elementary School when I was young. I never put those two things together before. Might just be coincidence.
