Jonesy's guitar style is so recognisable and unique to him, it still exshites the fook out of me even after all these years of being a Sex Pistols fan...
@@Eleventhearlofmars It's a really common saying that I decided to start saying. If I've got a nice cold beer and I take a drink:"Aah, that really flicks ma bean!" It's an expression of appreciation that I really wish more folk would start saying it.
I don't think history has given credit to Mr Jones as being a brilliant guitarist.....hes been an inspiration to me for nigh on 40 years...never mind the genre of music ..that guy could play...thank you Steve ...to me your a lifelong legend x
Still remains one of my favourite Pistols tunes, even though it’s not really a Pistols song, technically. But it sort of is, since it appeared on the Swindle record. Jones is a really stellar songwriter. This and “Lonely Boy” are fantastic tunes. Question for those that know: Does the Professionals’ music sound a lot like this tune?
nick evans it was released twice. One with Cook on vocals and one with Steve. Then Steve sang it in every Professionals set till there break up, then again in the 90’s with the neurotic outsiders
thornbers Technically not a Pistols song, more of a Professionals ditty but I know exactly what you mean, Silly Thing was always one of my favourites from that era.
Muirton66 yes I guess it is a professional’s song really. I ended up here as just finished reading Steve Jones’ book about the sex pistols which is a very good read. Odd how so many other people hanging around McLaren’s shop at the time also went on to be famous.
thornbers Yeah Sex was a magnet for a lot of diverse people back then, Lonely Boy is a good read, I don't know if you have read it but ' I was a teenage Sex Pistol ' by Glen Matlock is also a good insight into the early years, far better reads than Lydons 'No dogs' and 'Anger' which I found were a bit too self praising.
I wouldn't have expected anything else from Lydon :) Havent read Matlock's book so thanks for the tip. Oddly I always thought Jones was the 'disturbing' guy in the band as he dressed sort of low key but had an underlying dark edge to him whereas Rotten and Vicious where just pantomime villains. :)
One great thing I can say about my life is that I have enjoyed the greatest rock/punk/techno bands/artists that have ever been before the stupid boy bands, X-Factor and boring streaming destroyed the (real) music industry. Nice one Steve... the Professionals were one little tight (under rated) band with some great tracks. Thanks Steve and Paul !!
The thing with Steve Jones is for me he had great timing and a great ear for what makes a song great he really is a lover of music and it’s always showed and this song is a great example of that ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My brother was a punk in the 70,s big pistols fan I hated them at the time I now have all their albums it took me 30 years but I finally realized how good they were. One of my favourite pistols tracks. And don't forget friggin in the rigging.
Love his facial expression at 2.28 during his solo, exactly as the face he pulled playing solo's on the 1977 video in Huddersfield Christmas Day gig when the Pistols played free for the kids of fire fighters who were on strike, and had a cake fight while playing and even took the "f" word out of the songs as they were playing to young kids. (10 - 14 years old)
Silly Thing, Lonely Boy and Here We Go Again are great songs. I pretty much like all the sort of Sex Pistol post-breakup releases. My Way. No One is Innocent. The Eddie Cochran covers. All good stuff.
Di3go Kost3l@... 🤘🎹🎵😎🎸🖤
Honestly, one of the most underrated rock songs ever.
Agreed..it has a relevance to my life , when it didn't years ago
Deffinetly.
love it xx

Love the fact Jonesy and Cooky stuck together all these years
Proper muckers from Hammersmith .
Real mates.😉
Brilliant singer. Personally need to believe in himself more. Fantastic
He always has had more in him than he's ever believed, our Steve
I don't think history has given credit to Mr Jones as being a brilliant guitarist.....hes been an inspiration to me for nigh on 40 years...never mind the genre of music ..that guy could play...thank you Steve ...to me your a lifelong legend x
Can play
He tore another arse out of that wan.
I think you’ll find he did get credit and is highly rated, only muppets that believe the “pistols couldn’t play” myth think otherwise.
Bang on. He mentions in his book that he doesn't know why the Pistols' album isn't considered classic rock.
When I was 15, this man made me to buy a guitar....errrr...my parents to buy me a guitar

Question for those that know: Does the Professionals’ music sound a lot like this tune?
Yes.
Always prefered Steve's version to Sid's. Steve had the better voice. Lonely Boy was a classic!
Yep, if you like the sound of this you'll love the Professionals. More songs in this style.
@@mickcrocodiledundee6353 I've still got one of their albums somewhere.
@@davepritchard283Lonely Boy is my favourite pistols song closely followed by Silly Thing 😜
The guy with the Les Paul Jr. is hitting the bends really good.
classic rock song, it's great to see Jonesy can still blast it out, sounds brill
Rolla Coasta Ride Yup. Old bastard was born 13 years before me.
Steve Jones is a legend!!!
The bassist deserves credit for the harmonies! Excellent job.
what a an absolute legend. The quality of music on "Bollocks" is awesome, Jones, Cook and Matlock can play
yup, matlock is shining on bollocks more than anybody else...
Technically it was just Paul & Steve who recorded musical instruments on the Bollocks album
@@allee-82
Yet many suggest Matlock was the ‘genius’
😂

To anyone complaining, Steve has probably sang this song 5 times in 35 years, give him a break. He's older, he's not going to sound like he did in '79
He won't, as Paul Cook sang it anyway
nick evans it was released twice. One with Cook on vocals and one with Steve. Then Steve sang it in every Professionals set till there break up, then again in the 90’s with the neurotic outsiders
I liked Cooksies vocal a tad more.
He made me sing it in 1983..and i messed it up a bit...lol...check out "The Nothings & Steve Jones" Cheers !
He is top guy doing it live
It’s a perfect pop song. And that’s not always a bad thing.
Pop song? 😂
It is punk mate

Rock and Roll needs Steve Jones ! yeah
I know Im going to get slaughtered for this but this was/is my favourite Sex Pistols song, so much energy and power.

Always loved that song, and this is actually a great version of it. He can still rock it.
i tell you for a guy who claimed to hate singing he sure rips it up. hes great
He was the original singer in their first band.
Always been a fab song, and played brilliantly here

A powerhouse of a song. Sounding better now than it ever did.
He,s paved his own little part of history, earned it too.
So bloody tight! Epic tune!
Me too mate silly thing is an awesome song,I liked back in 79 and it still gives me goosebumps today
I also like “Lonely Boy”
A gem from the glory days, still holds up so well.
Great version. Well done to all involved, even the keyboard guy for nodding along :-)

ludurigan should have got a decent session singer in, then Jonesy could've concentrated on what he does best
