I love Steve. He’s such a grounded fella with a good heart. Always regretted that I never got the chance to meet him or any of the other surviving members, or to see them live. Greatest rock n’ roll band in the world, if you ask me.
He sure did. Steve is / was an authentic Chelsea Boy Londoner. The real deal. But after the Pistols - in the early 80s - he dated Joan Jett, was in Checkered Past, with the actor Michael Des Barres, and got into the LA Glam Metal scene. This is him from his LA Glam days. This was around the same time that The Cult was making it big in America as a hard rock / hair metal band.
"None of your free, hippy love $#it here!" "...Sex is ugly, boring, hippy-$#it..." God I love that movie. (Except for Nancy's voice, which sounds like poorly-played bagpipes. Actually even expertly-played bagpipes sound nightmarish; wtf was I thinking?)
On that basis, it is the perfect pistols biopic then, because most of everything ever told about them was made up. Between Lyndon, Jones and McLaren, you have three of the biggest liars the world has ever seen responsible for spouting most of the band's supposed 'history'. Pretty much the only thing true about them is that Bollocks is one of the best albums ever made.
I remember when they were the rage, during the punk era I had to help friends with teasing their hair with hard soap or thick sugar water mix, followed by spraying their hair with metallic car paint so it stayed in shape. And we wondered why we suffered from rash and allergies....Young and stupid VS Being an old fool, LoL. Memories...
What it was back in 87 most rock musicians had long hair, big hair whatever you wanna call it and that’s how we all looked. And Steve because he moved to LA and he got caught up in the scene. Nice to see him all the time on Sunset Boulevard at the Rainbow. it’s kind of funny because nobody really knew who he was. Nobody knew about the The Professionals but 15 years later people started catching on him. It’s funny to hear people say like I’ve been into your music for so long when they were actually never really into it. Or punk rock. See they are just to be cool. I called those people posers.

5:07/6:08 on the video: Steve Jones seems to like the idea that they were portrayed as drug-takers? He said it's "the best thing about the movie." To be portrayed as drug-takers. He doesn't seem to mind also that it was a "negative" portrayal. Right? He said, actually, that it's the only thing he liked about the movie, Sid and Nancy. Wow. Anybody missed that part of the interview?
Steve was clean at this point and was very up-front about what drugs had done to himself and others close to him. I think what he was saying was that the drug-related content of the film was not glamorized or romanticized, as many movies of the era tended to do. The movie, while (in my opinion) not great, did not shy away from the ugliness and misery of addiction.
Never mind the Bulldogs.
Wow, that was an in-depth interview. Answered all my questions about Steve’s dogs.
On the money 😂
Comedians and journalists...not the same.
Steve's Chippendale's phase.
in 20 years he went from working class london teenager to a hair metal artist
He never was a “hair metal” artist, “Fire & Gasoline” was a pure and raw Rock n Roll album.
@@PpoCircus it was hair metal. sounded like twisted sister.
and when grunge made hair metal unfashionable he became a punk again
@@smkxodnwbwkdns8369 Yeah, as hair metal sound as GnR, The Cult, or The Almighty in the same period.
He was deluded by heroin 🍀🇬🇧👍
Thank you for posting!
Lovely bloke, and doesn't realise the impact his guitar tone made and continues to inspire guitarists
Nobody has ever bettered his tone on bollocks
Geared up Steve

yeah my eyes are hurtin'
He never looked better than this. At his peak here. Love the long hair.
He looked bloody amazing here far better than he was during his Pistols days.
Yeah but he was just a little punk kid then. Men look great with long hair, look at Michael Hutchence, Robert Plant, Jim Morrison…
He looks 40 or 50. But weirdly was in his early 30s around this time.
This was his heroin period. Made him look older.
He definitely doesn’t look 50. 50 years olds look bloody ancient and like tree bark.
@@desertrose1226 You'll be there one day young lady.

Heroin period? Looks more like he was in some kind of pornstar period.
I fortunately got a chance to see The Sex Pistols. I think sometime in the 90s in NYC. The last great decade of of our lives.
1996 Roseland Ballroom. I was there too.
Oh, I thought that was the 60s, 70s or 80s
OMG I'd never seen anything but the 1976-1978 Steve Jones! I didn't know he went through a phase where he looked like he was in POISON or WINGER.
It is very jarring lol.

Never too old to rock&roll
He did a album with Iggy and also a solo album produced by Ian Austbury (The Cult), they are kinda hardrocky

His Robert Plant phase.
He does resemble R.P. , though.weird.😊

Thanks for the clip! I am a big fan of Steve's solo work and there's not a lot of archived video from that era.
Sid & Nancy one of the worse films made & 99.9% of it totally made up.

I love jonesy!!! But he's bang on the 🇵🇪 marching powder on this gig 😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉
That's some good hair. NGL.
He looks like the spawn of Ajax from the warriors and bon Jovi.
And a little mix of Michael Bolton when he had that mullet
With a touch of Hutchence
I feel like I need to be in acid to enjoy this
Jonesy looks good with long hair 😊❤
Who was Steve’s girlfriend during this time ,? Out of sheer curiosity 😬
Glorious hair
I ts a terrifying thing to get old my friend..but we can still cause trouble x
