*I worked for Mr Brown from the mid 80s to the late 80s during Midatlantic tours & shows as a Roadie, His Gopher, Road Capt etc... He had a heart of gold and paid me well! .... RIP-Godfather Of Soul!!!*
I saw James Brown in Tampa.I think 1972.I was on leave in the Navy. I went with a black buddy of mine.I may have been the only white guy there. The crowd was losing there mind. Everyone was dancing to that ultra funk. The band was insanely good.
Jamel you are a pure delight to watch.. I am 70 years old and remember well seeing James Brown years ago.. What a performer.. and the Band was amazing! This is Funk and Feeling! No wonder we all felt good. I will Always Love JB...Never be another! Godfather of SOUL..! Thank you!
One of the best songs EVER to dance to!! Back in the day (way back) we went to a club called The Cosmic Ballroom here where I live 🎶♥️☮️ It was the place to be at the time!!
I’ve read that The Man was such a perfectionist he had a little “tell” or signal. If someone was off or just a millisecond late in the middle of the show he’d let them know HE knew it. And they were fined. Listening to masters like him is one reason I have NO tolerance for the cRap people try to pass off as music. Thank you for this!
James Brown THE Godfather of Soul! he had so many great songs, I was young, I think first hearing this stuff in the very late 60’s early 70’s. Never be another! I wish some young musicians would resurrect this genre as it is well deserving. The roots of FUNK!
so much fun, great moves in that dancing and James Brown - does not get better. Hey and yeah grandparents - seems weird - time goes fast. Proof they could move just like any young person today!
After my years of living, I'm convinced that if you don't move to this song, you don't have a pulse...but then again I've seen ghosts jamming to this ahahahaha
There's a sound that James Brown used to make. It was more of an exclamation than a word and it sounded like: !!!HEH!!! I used to use it on the grand kids when they were little and about to get into something they shouldn't. Stopped them right in their tracks. :D
This song is so great!! Love Soul Train !! I love you doing these Jamal. So so fun! Thanks for making me laugh so hard! It’s so fun going back to the 70’s!!
I loved Soul Train much more than American Bandstand....I'm an old white guy too! LOL Soul Train dancers were such fun. There were two network "dance" oriented shows called Shindig and Hullabaloo. I never missed any of these shows! As you know by now, those of us in high school in the 70's had the best music! I'm so glad it's getting more exposure these days! I'm pretty sure the Partridge Family and the Monkees tv shows were in that time frame too.
*I worked for Mr Brown from the mid 80s to the late 80s during Midatlantic tours & shows as a Roadie, His Gopher, Road Capt etc... He had a heart of gold and paid me well! .... RIP-Godfather Of Soul!!!*
Wow! Bet you amazing memories!
WOW
RIP the Godfather of Soul James Brown
Coming off a rough week and this is just what I needed. You lifted my spirits and put a smile on my face. Love ya, brother. Peace.
Hope next week goes much better for you!
Can't beat James Brown
The only one who could beat JB was JB. Rest in peace Soul Brother #1.
Especially not his wife !
I don’t care if it’s the general crowd dancing, or the soul train line, I just love to watch them dance😎.
From one Lisa to another.... ME TOO
I saw James Brown in Tampa.I think 1972.I was on leave in the Navy. I went with a black buddy of mine.I may have been the only white guy there. The crowd was losing there mind. Everyone was dancing to that ultra funk. The band was insanely good.
“I saw you Brother”, 🤣🤣🤣 then proceeds to do robot moves. You’re funny as hell Jamel, and your robot is tight.
They had themselves a grand ol time every week. Dying at the floating leg coming out of stage left. 😂😂
All of the grandparents knew how to "Get Up Offa That Thing" in their younger days...they all looked and danced sooooo GOOD!!!
Soul Train has a Redbone "Come and Get Your Love" dance scene like this one. Just sayin'. lol
Oh yeah that's a banger
I Love Redbone !!! Those guys are GREAT !? Native costumes are FANTASTIC !!?
Check out another one
from the King of Soul:
*James Brown*
"Hot Pants" Pt. 1 (1971)
*SUPERBAD*
I found James Brown in college in the 90s. He us not a singer, he is a musical instrument packaged in a human body.
"GET ON THE GOOD FOOT """ !!!!!!!!
Thank you!
As opposed to Kool And The Gang's recommendation that you Get Down On It.
Get down on it came on everybody hit the Dance Floor
One of the best songs EVER to dance to!! Back in the day (way back) we went to a club called The Cosmic Ballroom here where I live 🎶♥️☮️ It was the place to be at the time!!

I feel funky now! From NY! Just got your shirt! Bought 4 tickets to see James Brown, saw him twice! He didn't show up twice!
That was just too much fun!! I vote for more Soul Train Dancers!
I’ve read that The Man was such a perfectionist he had a little “tell” or signal.

I am still going out dancing and we are STILL dancing to this song. And shake til you feel better!!!!
Soul Train dancers had more energy than the American Bandstand. And today they all probably have walkers!😜
You would love James Brown at the TAMI show from the sixties. He is amazing and The Rolling Stones regretted following him..
shawn smith- I believe that was the show where Mick started his "dance moves". Jagger then worked with Tina Turner for ways to get his own style.
Saw James Brown, BB King with surprise in the crowd Michael Jackson and a prince at the Beverly Theater in L.A. Wow what a show❤😁
Stickin' their foot in it! Ohh I remember these daze as a widdle kiddo...!
so much fun, great moves in that dancing and James Brown - does not get better. Hey and yeah grandparents - seems weird - time goes fast. Proof they could move just like any young person today!

There's a sound that James Brown used to make. It was more of an exclamation than a word and it sounded like: !!!HEH!!! I used to use it on the grand kids when they were little and about to get into something they shouldn't. Stopped them right in their tracks. :D
Every time I hear this song I think of whoppi goldberg in Sister Act. Great song. Cool. 🎶👏
lmao, that person who put their foot up was probably thinking to themselves "I'm going to be on t.v, even if it's only my foot!"
😂 I'm loving everybit of this music
Heh, I used to tell my kids, "I don't care if you get 'down', just get off of that thing!"
I don't think they understood. lol
Undeniable songs like this are what I put on when I need to go somewhere, or clean the house XD SO MUCH GETS DONE.

James was unique and a little out there, but the Music, you can't argue with greatness.
The Payback. Best groove and horns ever.
I would watch this show on Saturday morning and then go out Saturday night I try to do the moves I wish I had watched sometimes it worked
Song prominently played in the film "What A Girl Wants" with Amanda Byne. Loud enough to bring down a chandelier!
When the hardest workingman on UA-cam reacts to the hardest workingman in show business. . .
OMG. That fro is looking great.
The woman in white was doing George and Helen, LMAO
LOL. Whenever I hear this song I think of the old movie Doctor Detroit. :D
It's wild that this song was the big dance scene in Doctor Detroit.
"Peace, Love, and Soul."
RIP Don Cornelius
I grew up in the 70s. I remember dancing along with my white butt. LMAO!
