I’m gonna have an unpopular opinion and say I like him shorter. When he’s on the shelf next to Scourge and Cyclonus, he scales alright the way he is. He’s still a little too big, but he is a leader figure so it’s expected. Add more height and he loses all scale with the deluxe and voyager mainline figures. Personally I think scale is why Optimus and Rodimus were made leader and commander but without the accessories, they were roughly voyager scale, just a little bigger. I always assumed Hasbro was trying to keep the scale reasonable. Same with Hot Rod being a voyager but closer to deluxe scale, he has to match Arcee, Blurr, Perceptor, and etc.
plus, Galvatron and Roddy may be lower height wise, plastic count, there is a HUGE difference at least from what ive experienced

Agreed. He's already a bit too tall without this upgrade. Honestly the faces are cool. There are better hands you can use for him. KFC Sideswipe fit as do Maketoys seeker hands. The leg extensions look awful, probably even worse when he's rolling with his crew.
Indeed, kits that make the figure taller end up making the figure body parts look out of proportion.
That’s how I feel about Netflix Soundwave. Mother fucker’s chest is wide as hell. He looks like a box with legs
This feels exactly what an upgrade kit should be. Almost of all of it you don't really need, but adds something if you really want it. Personally, I don't think it's all that necessary. Especially the gun, since his cannon vaporizes star scream in the movie.
It’s not the greatest upgrade set, but it’s definitely leaps and bounds better than some of their past few. Phenomenal review as always Prime Vs. Prime!
I would have liked to see something with the treads that gives them a flip out bit to hide the gap between them and the elbow in cannon mode when you try to angle it upward without twisting them inward, a way to hide the weird tab that exists just to plug into the shoulder, and better molding to allow for a little more posing.
Other than that a new, fancier orange bit for the cannon and some sort of weapon designed plug the matrix onto would be nice.
Looking forward to getting mine and upgrading my Legacy Galvatron.
I think the fingers and the matrix chain are the definite upgrades for me. I'm fine with his size since he's already so heavy and in scale, and the interchangeable face is nice but not really needed. Plus I got him in legacy so he doesn't need the pin covering, and I think his guns are already so cool that I don't think he needs the blaster.
I don't think Galvatron really needs a height upgrade but the posable hands are nice. One thing I would like to see are foldable flaps for the forearms to cover up that open gap in bot mode. And perhaps, make the ankle full articulated when it can bend the foot forward and backwards but that's about it.
I think that blast effect should be more like the ones that came with Jetfire and Rodimus, and purple!
Oh yeah I realized that Leader Class figures since Earthrise are inconsistent with who gets finger articulation.
It feels like a masterpiece galvatron with this kit
I think they missed an opportunity to replace the purple kibble pieces in the calves with a gray pieces to match the legs for the robot mode.
nestly love this. I would LOVE to see moar figures with posable fingers.
However, I can’t help but feel like it would have been easier to make a new head, which would have a hole at the back to push the pin thru and just pop off the face.
So this kit makes Galvatron even MORE out of scale with the other figures in the line. I was thinking of getting this kit but after seeing it I think I'll pass.
Articulated hands are a damn nice touch, keep those coming👍
Galvatron’s biggest problem is the feet being too short.
I'm surprised they didn't make a more accurate head crest while they were at it.
Just got mine from BBTS today and used everything minus the lift shoes lol. Made his legs too awkward looking and IMHO he doesn't need to be THAT tall.
Other than that not a bad kit BUT dna designs are pricing themselves out of me continuing to get them. I can easily find really nice kits on eBay for 15 bucks.
Best thing about this kit is the face plate upgrade. Hands are too wonky to me. I agree with you there. The rest is just...adequate. The leg extensions look bad to me. Makes his lets way too segmented. they'd have been better off making new legs, lol
Honestly, I am only getting this upgrade kit for Articulated Fingers, Matrix Chain, Faceplates and Gun. While the ankle boosts are nice, I will keep the stock legs as they are. But nice review as always PVP my friend.
I think the leg extenders are too much. It makes the lower legs way too long
They should make one for Nemesis/Optimus Prime and Megatron

I personally never understood why Galvatron would use a handheld pistol. He has a *massive* particle cannon attached to his arm! USE THAT YOU NIMROD.

Wow, seeing a lot of dislike for this set.. I have no idea why. It needed a bit more to put it over the top for sure, like the foot pads on other upgrade kits and the back spire. The foot pads make the leg proportion issue go away. I love this set in concert with the others making the perfect main line Galvatron.
An upgrade kit for a mainline release that includes spare faces/heads? I wish someone would make one for SS86 Kup.
I'm not a huge fan of most of these "upgrades", but this video is awesome.
Nah. I quite like the stock stern Oscar the Grouch glaring face. Like he's about to flip out and whoop any of his Minions at a moment's notice.
The gun is okay, the hands are cool, but the blast effect part & leg extenders are unnecessary. And besides, the various classes stopped being about size with the advent of Studio Series... it's largely about engineering & parts count now. Oh, and as for added firepower, my Galvatron equips the cannon from Titans Return Galvatron on his left arm, with his own on his right.
Do you use a lazy susan to get those 360 shots? If so, I'm curious to know which one as I'm looking to get one.

I think everything but the boot lifts are great. He doesn't need to be any taller.
I'm on the fense. If I had the toy based exclusive I'd get, just to make rival Ultra Magnus like the old school toys.
Wait, which episode(s) of the show did he have the blaster in? I always thought it looked neat, but I don't remember ever seeing it there.

When I do get it I am going to add everything except for the ankles since I do care a lot about accuracy to the continuity it’s from like g1
I like my Galvatron, he has the wrong shoulders but I don't care. I've never bovered with any of these kits. Some come with some cool accessories but I can't get away with em personally
I’ll probably pick it up, his stubby legs have been bothering me and yeah, it’ll put him out of scale but honestly, I don’t really care. Plus I like the blaster and alternate face plates a lot.

Nah.. they could have had it a more sinsister look.. hel should have tried to shadowed Megatron features into the sculpt...next level idea
Shipping and taxes would make this kit come to around $45+ CAD and I would just be using the open mouthed smile face plate only because making him taller would throw off the scale of every other main line figure😬 if only all characters like Optimus, Megatron, Galvatron, Rodimus, etc had that extra height boost… would make them more accurate 🤷♂️
Only thing I really want for my galvatron are blast effects.

I'm fairly confident that the weird face plate is a reference to an episode with poor animation where his mouth looked really screwed up.
Really like to know your thoughts if this figure will be re-issued into studio series 86 or we will get a new version??
He's being released again in Legacy without the battle damage seen on the Kingdom toy.
as DetectiveBarricade said, he's being reissued in the G1 colors in Legacy (he's the wavemate to Laser Prime), without the "Scratches" and battle damage of the Kingdom release.
Its a nice kit shame I been trying to get galvatron since last July still can get one so dont need the kit the gun the only thing I would miss forgot that the g1 toy had one
well if it's any consolation, Galvatron's reissued in wave one of legacy so you can probably find him.

The gun, the chain, articulated hands and fire effect. The rest of the kit is an easy pass for me.

I’m definitely prefer shorter Galvatron, he just doesn’t look right with this upgrade.
If anything i wouldve like him a bit more shorter than the stock figure so he is the same height as megatron and rodimus like in the cartoon

To bad they didnt do a rage face. I would have bought it on the spot for just that. A smirking and insane laugh face while cool and true to season 3 appearances just doesnt do it for me.
They still haven't fixed my main issue with this figure: the cannon barrel is too damn long. That's a nothing thing for upgrade kits to do, but they included all this stuff. I'm saying saying this is bad, I'd just like the easiest and most important thing to be changed.
I can't believe they didn't include forearm covers too. Luckily, those are relatively cheap from other people making upgrade kits for Galvatron.

Lol, no thanks. The faces look good the leg extensions throw him completely out of scale and proportion. Plenty of hand options out there without this kit. The matrix and gun are just throw aways.

Man, I ended up getting rid of this set as it was bad and made him look crap.
The leg extensions are dumb it ruins his scale with other figures. BUT IT ALSO MAKES HIM LOOK WORSE!!! HIS PROPORTIONS ARE ALL MESSED UP NOW. HIS LEGS ARE TOO LONG AND MAKES HIS ARMS LOOK WAY TO SHORT NOW!!!
