Noah's Ark walk-through commentary (10th anniversary special)

- Опубліковано 3 жов 2024
- 2021 marks the ten-year upload anniversary of my two-part Noah's Ark video. Here's a slightly rambling walk-through of what I remember about making it (and where I stuffed up).
"The Sticky Side" - I'm going to make (very occasionallly!) irregular videos like this for a playlist called "The Sticky Side". After they've been up for a while, I'll set them as 'unlisted' videos, meaning they'll still be viewable but just won't be front and center of the channel. This is to ensure that the 'character' of the channel doesn't change if I go making a good amount of such videos. Which, knowing me, I probably won't, but who knows?

Non stamp collector I became an atheist during the pandemic because I saw your quiz video like once and I never stopped laughing at religion ever since. I watched all your videos from the first one until now and subscribed to the channel. Man you put out great content.
You may laugh about religion but sadly, sometimes things get bloody serious. Literally.
Eg. if two "tribes" (for lack of a better word) are deeply convinced their resp. "most high" would appreciate if they go to war to ensure exclusive access to a certain piece of ground for the members of their tribe only - and that piece of land happens to be the same for both tribes.
I wish I could laugh about that too ... I can't.
(As this is written mid of May 2021 it's probably clear what I'm talking about.)
@@mittelwelle_531_khz I think OP is describing laughing at the ridiculousness of various religious beliefs - not laughing at the harm that religion causes... There are plenty of hilariously stupid pieces of most regions' teachings - recognizing them as such doesn't mean that you don't take seriously the horrible things people do in their gods' names.
@@azuradawn5683 Thanks for responding. I understood the OP in the meaning you write and I didn't want to suggest he's taking such things lightly.
What I wanted to remind to is the problem, that people believing ridiculous things are not necessarily harmless, in fact, their believes may cause them to do harmful things to others, just because they assume their god will like them better if they do.
Consider this: It is often said that atheists are "godless", have nothing onto which they base their morals (so maybe they have no morals) etc. etc. And frequently then the ten commandments are mentioned and from that especially the one "you should not kill".
But what was the VERY FIRST THING Moses did after receiving the commandments? Together with his brother and their fanclub, the Levites, he killed 3000(!) of their own people, .
The quiz show is a classic. It needs to be viewed several times to truly get all the little nuances from it.

They're made of meat after all. I think polar bears will eat anything that moves if they get hungry. In reality, it probably doesn't even have to move.

It would be like expecting them to be some Carl Sagan figure, who can instantly spit out large computations after merely FLEXING his mind.
Noah's encyclopedic memorization of animal species was especially impressive, given that his only source was Adam's "Names of the Kinds", (sadly, lost in the flood).

You’re back! Praise Evolution!
The Noah's Ark video was amazing - you are unbelievably talented - I'm a simple engineer and you videos got me thinking. Creationists (I used to be one - fanatically) believe that the mountains were much lower and the weight of water pushed up the mountains, well ok but we know ONE mountain was existing namely mount Ararat and that is 5,137 metres high so the water had to be at least that high (plus 15 cubits), this is the LEAST the water could be, and then if we assume Ararat was the highest mountain on the planet and we IGNORE the equatorial bulge due to centrifugal forces (the earth today has a 13 mile bulge) then you can calculate the quantity of water needed - it comes to 2.63x10^18 cu mtrs - this is the absolute minimum. Where is all that water today ? Creationists say it's still right here on earth but sadly the water on earth is only about half that amount, it is short by some 690 million cubic miles - and this is the minimum imaginable. At 5,000 metre you are in to altitude sickness and freezing temperatures. The water added if it is still here today would have increased the earth diameter by some 6 miles and increased the earth mass by 2.6x10^21 kg - the earth would therefore rotate more slowly and orbit the sun more slowly than before the flood. Also accelerating that mass of water to a rotational speed commensurate with earth rotation would also slow the rotation of the earth. Where did the water come from ? If it was a 'water canopy' around the earth then it would need to extend millions of miles assuming it has the water content of the (very wet) troposphere; and if the atmosphere / water vapour really was up there and held by gravity then it would exert just as much pressure on the surface of the earth as the liquid water.
Yeah yeah I know - I'm boring - but I have been a cult member all my life and I am so grateful for videos like this. It would not be an overstatement to say that these videos are life saving. Thank You.
Thank you so much for all you do, Stamp. Because of you, and a couple others like you (e.g. DarkMatter 2525, AntiCitizenX, 43 Alley, Cool Hard Logic, etc.), I was finally able to let go of the last vestiges of my childhood indoctrination, especially the fear of hell, and realize/admit to myself that I am an Atheist, not just an agnostic (I am an Agnostic Atheist, though). By showcasing the absurdities of religion in a hilarious way, I was able to see just how laughable the whole thing was/is. Thank you very much for all your hard work and dedication to helping people like me. I can never thank you enough. Sorry for the long rant, lol.
I don't know what use this comment will be, but I watched it all the way through and thoroughly enjoyed this entire video! Even if a lot of it was just "wow that matched what I wanted perfectly" I love it, it's nice to reminisce and analyze.
geez dad do we have to take em all!
YESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry I can’t trick myself into believing that an old man survived half a year at sea in a homemade wooden boat with 4000 different species of termites… I use that line all the time thank you NSC
47:16 I don't think there is ANYTHING more Australian than going "I AM happy of my delivery of 'WHAT THE FUCK WOULD YOU KNOW ABOUT IT?' Let's go back and listen to that :)"
I found and binge watched your channel a few years back, shortly after my belief in Christianity fell apart. I found it to be quite therapeutic. Coming back back for some nostalgia. You should be proud of your work!
Your channel helped me realize how illogical and messed up Christianity is. One time I had one of your videos playing and my mom walked in and said, "this sounds like blasphemy". I said "it's good to consider new viewpoints". She did not agree 😂. But as for me, your "blasphemous" videos helped me begin to think my own "blasphemous" thoughts and now I'm free. Thank you.
"Bloody Tigers" adds a bunch of charm to the video. Never change
I really enjoyed dipping my foot into nostalgia lane with this breakdown.
Thank you.
Your channel is pure gold.
You genuinely do such a good job displaying the absurdity in theistic reasoning. I’ve come back to your videos countless times over the years. I wish you kept making them, but of course I understand your family is more important.
Still wonderful after all these years!
Thank you so much for everything. Your humour helped me realise how silly some of my previous beliefs were. You were an important part of my deconversion from Seventh-day adventism.
The noahs ark video is what helped me start questioning my faith at 20 years old, thank you much man
plot twist: NonStampCollector is Ken Ham,satisfying his need for honesty, once in a while.
The Resurrection would have been more likely than Ken Ham demonstrating such brilliant satirical wit.
👌
As an Old Earth Evolutionist I approve of this message. Great work.
Wow this just went live 2 hours ago and its already on my feed. NSC, I love your work and I couldn't be happier than to sit down and watch this now - I've got the popcorn out and am enjoying every moment.
Thanks for all you do - it really makes a difference to so many people, in so many ways, that it is hard to express.
Keep on doing you - and if you are ever headed to London, I'd be happy to buy you a pint or two.
Much love FF xxx
PS Ezekiel 23:20 seems rife for some sort of satirical treatment. Just sayin'...
