That was truly stunning! How creative you were down to the finest details showing ALL it takes and the many aspects involved before you even picked up your camera! From the many people involved helping to make it work to finally choosing the camera, lenses, and steadycam used before you even really went to work was very impressive. I watch a great deal of working professionals on UA-cam and very rarely do I see any doing it better than this, you killed it!
Thank you so much for all the tips, tricks, and time :)

Love you work. Better than anything I've ever done.
People have no idea how much work goes into a video like this. I do much lower end stuff like the odd corporate talking head video for very small businesses.
Had one client who billed himself as the "director" for a documentary who wanted me to shoot some re-enactment scenes. The guy didn't understand how to shoot coverage for a dialogue scene!
"What do you mean this will take at LEAST 30 minutes to shoot? It's 2 minutes of them talking!"
He wasn't thinking about flubbed lines, environmental interruptions, multi angles, directing the talent ... it didn't help that he didn't secure exclusive use of the location from the city (wedding party taking pictures in the back being noisy and polluting my audio and a military parade exercise cut short our time). Thankfully I was shooting this on sticks and the actors were stationary so we didn't have to deal with missed focus or mistakes from the camera operator (me).
He was also not taking into consideration lighting and audio. I was doing all of that.
We ended up doing 3 takes over one actors shoulder, three takes over the other actors shoulder and 2 wide shots plus 3 takes of a character reveal using a makeup mirror.
Had another client (talking head video for a handyman business). He was understanding but he originally thought I would just show up with a handheld handycam and not multiple lights, 2 DSLRs on sticks, field recorder, microphones, a small slider (for insert or b-roll of his tools) ... now if we could have found that stupid cricket that was in his workshop tainting my audio I would have been happy. :)

    Great episode!
When I'm shooting dance videos I do stuff really similarly.
I have some kind of speaker system for scratch audio. The only difference is that I usually add some sort of beeps at the beginning and end of the audio to make it even easier to sync in post.
The second thing I also do is try to get as much coverage as I can with full song takes and never cut from the same angle to a similar one always try to alternate between wide to close or something like that and also try to use invisible cuts.
Third is preparation. I always prepare like crazy. Figure out what kind of shots I want and plan for them including B roll and then schedule everything so that the crew is up to speed what will be happening and when and it seem to make us an efficient team. And the most reliable is my 1st AD without whom my life as a director would be a lot harder.
The final thing is in post I always arrange all best takes on multiple layers and treat it the project as a multi cam sequence so I can cut between different footage at will.
    Best regards
    Vital

Wow...I am impressed. I am an amateur with all this stuff, and I'm not even close to what I just saw but I know it takes time. You have a God given talent, sir! I'm shocked to see the negative comments though. Let's use common sense people because he is not deliberately telling us to purchase such expensive equipment in order to make a quality video. From my understanding of watching this is to give us inspiration, tips, and overall insight of what it takes to make a quality video. Like I always say, "chew the meat and throw out the bones." Not everything that we see must be implemented, and I've realized that with how-to videos. At the end of the day, everyone's own work is unique.
