To make the Sofrito easier to blend, use a bit of cooking wine and or vinegar. It'll also add great flavor when the Sofrito is being cooked down. But as. Puertorican, I am very impressed with this Arroz con Pollo, you definitely invited to the family cookout on Christmas
I'm in a state that just doesn't have aji dolce peppers anywhere and it's killing me that I can't make sofrito!
@@theconqueringenigma You could always check and see if there's any produce delivery you can look up to get them.
as much as i like convenience. blending sofrito veggies seems so wrong to me. the blender just converts everything into a mushy juicy paste. that's not sofrito it's salsa.

@@laidbacksage2574 just dice the veggies with a knife. with a mortar you get the same mushy paste.
if you're too bothered to dice chop with a knife get a mandolin cutter or something like that
PD: also i just realize most dominicans make sofrito into a paste, so now i get why is like that. but i'm still finding it weird because sofrito isn't like that in all countries.
I’m going to say it again. A24 movies should be excluded! They were the only company to agree to every single one of SAG-AAFTRA’s terms. Would love to see them back!

part of the selection by the crew is also notoriety of said media after all the favorites have been run through

I remember the version of this that was apparently taken down "for copyright purposes." It only had a few seconds of the movie in it. Shouldn't that qualify as fair use or something? The studios (especially Sony) seem to have gotten needlessly over-aggressive with their takedowns lately.

In theory yes.
In practice...
YT strike is not DMCA. DMCA is supposed to be manual review first. But YT allows owners to upload the entire thing to auto match. Burden of proof for DMCA is on owner, burden of for take down (after you dox yourself, something not needed in DMCA) is on the user.
Owners can carpet bomb users with takedowns, users have to fight them one at a time.
I recall 2 cases of take down abuse in the gaming media space from the last ~6 years. Both where 'major figure in the space' + 1 attorney vs someone with an issue who found the take down and was self representing. 5 figures later...
And that was damage done from the proverbial parents basement. Want to take bets on what happens against someone with a legal department even if they are the ones stealing your work?
@@nickierv13the answer to if anything happens to a big corporation steals your work, is nothing! Absolutely nothing happens, since most corporations post their stolen things to Facebook, and you SAY that it is your's, Facebook won't do anything since it gets them money. In the legal field as well. Most people who have their stuff stolen are mostly smaller creators, so they probably won't have any representation in court, and have to self represent. And, even if they do have a lawyer, they'll probably lose anyway.
TL;DR: if you have something stolen by a big corporation, nothing will happen to them.
I respect this man to the fullest. He has the integrity to his art I wish half this world had

Chicken & rice seems to be a favourite pairing in so many countries, each with their own little twist. Both the arroz con pollo & the arroz con gandules looked & sounded excellent. I'll be trying the latter one soon.

@@horriblepizza4647 I made the arroz con gandules at the weekend as planned. It was terrific, really enjoyed it & have added it to my repertoire of dishes that I'll be cooking regularly. I made a big batch & have frozen some so that I can have a quick meal if I've been busy.
I love that you have arroz con gandules on here. Growing up in a Puerto Rican family, we all make our recipes different but the smallest additions you did here reminded me of my grandmas recipe which we all believe is the best. Thanks for sharing your craft with us and being a rockstar in the industry

Reminds me a lot of Moroccan chicken stew. The cooking order is basically the same, only it's served with rice or a flatbread on the side. It's also sweetened with dried fruits that go in alongside the olives.
Well, you're on point, because almost the majority of Latin American rice dishes came from Spain, therefore the influence being there.

Hmm rice is pretty much one of the only things you season beforehand cause stirring it too much after boiling breaks up the grains. So season your water in which you're boiling it

It has been pretty much confirmed that executives will wait for writers to lose their homes before any negotiation happens.

I thought there'd been a Babish arroz con pollo episode, went to find it a few weeks ago after the strike started cause i was attempting to make some but couldnt find the episode. Now i know why.

I love rice and chicken. My mom makes that often. We still try to focus on dieting since she says rice isn’t exactly healthy, but she still gives me some.

I'm Puerto Rican and for me, arroz con pollo trumps arroz con gandules any day. The ingredients you used for the sofrito were very Puertorican 👍 and both rides looked yummy.

Never seen water added after the rice is stirred, without that step the rice would have been harder which is the more traditional texture
adding water after stirring rice makes it risotto. which is pretty much what babish got

Many countries have "Arroz con Pollo" recipes, each with their unique blend of ingredients, spices, and taste.
What's the US version of it?
US style is called Chicken and Rice. Make some chicken, make some rice, mix them together with whatever else you have around. Since the US is a country of immigrants, every family has their own recipe.
