Think u gotta add the 50s and 60s in there. Like Elvis the Beatles. I personally don't like either one of them but there's no denying how important their music was to everyone back then and their influence on the music industry. But yeah after the 90's music really started to suck. Even bands that were good in the 80s and Early 90s started pumping out trash in the late 90s early 00s.
I'm so glad to see you continue to react with my favorite ABBA song "S.O.S." has a story It was one of Their first recordings after the greatest success of "Waterloo" in Eurovisión, just four months later, in August 1974 But it waited almost a year for its release, in June 1975 at Sweden, September 1975 at UK and US "Waterloo" needed another theme to confirm the trend and it was not an isolated success or a stroke of luck ABBA's next three elections failed to stand out Until finally "S.O.S." have your chance to be a single, and broke the drought, reaching #6 in the U.K. and #15 in the U.S. being Their second hit in both countries at the same time, and six #1 and more Top 10 in several countries of all continents and after these, ABBA had 18 Top 10 consecutives in UK between 1975/1982, for example: Mamma Mía, Fernando, Dancing Queen, Take a chance con me, Chiquitita, etc "S.O.S." in less than 200 seconds is a gem, a masterpiece! I love ABBA! My mon listened to them when I was a kid so I got to know the songs. I remember singing along with her! Fast forward to me and mom a couple years ago on mother/daughter vacation in Punta Cana. I was 43 and she was 70...we are laying on the beach and I looked at her and said "Hey Mom! ' And started singing Fernando, she right away joined in. And then all these other people around us who we did not know started singing along. That was such an amazing moment. People from all different countries, different cultures, black, white, Asian, Middle Eastern, European, young and old knowing ABBA! Music is a worldwide bond that does not care about anything other than making people happy!
AMAZING that ABBA didn’t receive a Grammy nomination until fall of 2021. They’ve been nominated for “Record of the Year”, to be awarded in the Spring of 2022. ABBA is the FOURTH-biggest selling musical artist in MUSIC HISTORY. Number one is Michael Jackson. Second is The Beatles. Third was Elvis Presley. Fourth is ABBA. In excess of 400 MILLION records sold. And their first Grammy nomination is NOW? WTF???
Great ABBA classic. Other classic ABBA - "Super Trouper", "Happy New year", "Money Money", "Voulez Vous", "Lay all love on me", "Thank you for the music". "My love, my life" (imho, one of ABBA's best ballads).
Hi Jayvee! Abba always had that ability of making upbeat catchy songs which so many are well known to this day. But there’s always a dark ltheme to the lyrics of every song if you think about it. All their songs are quite dark despite their upbeat feel which is unique for a band. I’ll always be Abba fan forever despite this ❤️😘😘
Ha! Just realised I have been listening (and even re-istening) to your reviews and not pressing like. Going forward I will do this. Apologies. ABBA is known as a supergroup, for good reason. I remember as a kid my parents buying the records and me playing ABBA over and over. I always loved my dad telling me that their name was made up of the band members' initials and me being about 7or 8 years old and being amazed. It's simple and effective and clever and also as catchy as their songs as well. Please also listen to Pomplamoose - Bust Your Knee Caps. I've suggested it before and hop it is on a playlist somewhere for your new reactions one day. They are a husband and wife duo with her being the singer and her husband the musician. She sings in French too, which is also sublime to listen to. They are so wonderful and unique and I read somewhere she is unwell at the moment. I also just wanted to say I love your reaction videos, you are my favourite reactor. Loved you on Bohemian Rhapsody most of all (think I have waited it several times now). You come across as such a genuine and honest person, open-minded and positive and conclude this is what is down to your success. Your facial expressions when a song has you bemused are always hilarious too. That's frown and head tilt always has me creased up. Keep doing what you are doing, man. And thank you for existing. Now I need to leave myself a comment: "Must press like, must press like, must press like". 🤣
Every time I hear this song I reaffirm how well done it is. The lirics, the music and the performance are special. ABBA is a great band and a Milestone in pop history. Bravoooo
Do yourself a favour and listen to Abba singing " move on " It's a song for life and living for the moment. Abba, the greatest pop group ever to grace us with their incredible talent. Enjoyed the reaction and just subscribed.
The secret to how Abba achieved such incredible sounding vocals is multi-tracking and layering. The song would be sung and recorded several times. Then it was a matter of layering one recording of just their voices perfectly over another one, over and over. The effect gave their songs an incredible resonance, like they were singing in huge cathedral. This was before digital, so it had to be done on reel-to-reel tapes, which is very time consuming and tricky to get right.
Great reaction to one of my very favourite ABBA songs .. and I really like heaps of ABBA songs, so that's saying something ! .. As many have commented, it's pretty much the perfect pop song, and has absolutely everything you'd want in it .. Would love you to check out "Bang-A-Boomerang" .. It's an under-rated early ABBA pop masterpiece, and the official video for it is fantastic .. Cheers, Wayne
4:28 The technique they are using is one developed by producer Phil Spector in the late 1960's, called the Wall of Sound. Spector was not ABBA's producer, but ABBA's sound engineer had read about the technique and applied it to ABBA's music.
Yes. I love ABBA and this is one of my favourite songs of theirs. An ABBA tribute band called Bjorn Again did a superb version of SOS at the Royal Albert Hall, London in 1998. "(Bjorn Again:SOS Live RAH (ABBA) 1998)." And the whole concert is at ," (ABBA) Bjorn Again-1998 Full Concert." I think you will like it.
ABBA songs were always brilliantly produced Jay and this is no exception. Turned it up loud and singing once agian. I love the transition into the chorus. One of my faves from them.😁📀👍🎶❤️
My favorite Abba song. I never listened to them when they were popular but became a huge fan when I saw the great little Aussie movie Muriel's Wedding starring Toni Collette. It's full of their songs.
I remember having a "disco" (just lights turned out really) at my cousins house when we were around 8-11 y.o. the group of us. We put Abba-vinyl playing, this amongst other songs, and just jumped and danced around 😂
I LOVED Abba as a teenager. Eventually, I had a teenager of my own.... Daughter: Mom, Listen to this song..... Me: That's Abba! OMG! I loved Abba! Daughter. Abba? This is Ace of Base. Me. ? Daughter: They are from Sweden. There are 2 girls and 2 guys and they are married to each other. Me: That's ABBA! Daughter: No, mom, that's Ace of Base. Sound is similar, dynamics similar ...but a generation apart!
In fact someone did sample it: Madonna used it in her song "Hung Up" - one of the few times that ABBA allowed their music to be sampled. People dismiss ABBA as being lightweight because their songs are catchy, but it's the combined experience of the band members as performers (solo and in previous bands) and as songwriters, plus the session musicians they used, that make their songs strong.
Back then ABBA was in their Own Lane!! Very UNIQUE and Great to Chill out too and Just Let your Mind Dream Away!! AMAZING!! ❤️❤️❤️💯🔥😃 Thank You for Bringing Back Great MEMORIES 💘
Benny Andersson is one of the greatest songwriters of all time, hands down. Ulvaeus sure did a great job with the lyrics, but Benny is undoubtedly the musical genius of the band.
The musicality of abba is fkn mental.... 4 decades on and still i jam.... i keep waiting for a band like abba.... but not seeing anything.. i like adele... coldplay blah blah.. but not seeing any abba level bands..
I think this song gave me my love of melancholy down beat music, I was a young kid when this was first released and I still love sad sounding music, the camera looks great 👍
You're right, I don't think Abba have a bad song and to prove how good they are they came back last year, 40 years later, and picked up where they left off!!! So much musical talent. Please keep reacting to ABBA on your channel. Oh, and the new camera looks fine.
This original audio of SOS you heard, is a favorite pop song of pro musicians from the 70s, like Pete Townsend of th Who, and Elvis Costello, to name a few. This song has Benny playin a grand piano through a "phase shifter," along with a MiniMoog, for the sonic tone journeys here and there, an old-school vintage analog synth that Stevie Wonder plays, in Boogie On Reggae Woman. You might like "Name of the Game." It has kind of a slow, urgent beat to it.
Pete Townshend of The Who has said that "SOS" by ABBA is, perhaps, the best pop song ever written.
I also heard John Lennon said something along the same lines. I have been trying to find quote.
At The top, most definitelly. It has all - good, catchy melodies, sing along factor, easy to learn, relatable and not incredibly dumb lyrics and it stands In the crowd.
Yeah... only pop song in our time i would put up to this is... well none

It was one of Their first recordings after the greatest success of "Waterloo" in Eurovisión, just four months later, in August 1974
But it waited almost a year for its release, in June 1975 at Sweden, September 1975 at UK and US

You play any Abba song and you gotta be prepared to open a whole can of goodness!
😀 Abba! Thanks!
Curved mirrors and a kaleidoscope over the lens are used for the effects in this video.
1975 I just got 1 year old, when this song 🎶 come out , wow 😯 how time go fast 💨.
Hi jayvee(: a almost unknown song from Abba "THE KING HAS LOST HIS CROWN" 1978 swiss tour HQ (: (: (:
One of my faves from them.😁📀👍🎶❤️
Their music was just so dreamy.
Underrated group- Brilliant! Fantastic reaction!
Fave Abba song
Steve Perry from Journey is the voice, the male voice in music history, Agnetha is the voice , the female voice in music history...
Awesome song from ABBA! Love them❤️
My favorite Abba song. I never listened to them when they were popular but became a huge fan when I saw the great little Aussie movie Muriel's Wedding starring Toni Collette. It's full of their songs.
As my cousin once said an " epitome of pure pop music.Nothing to change or even dare to touch"!
I remember having a "disco" (just lights turned out really) at my cousins house when we were around 8-11 y.o. the group of us. We put Abba-vinyl playing, this amongst other songs, and just jumped and danced around 😂
This was their follow up to Waterloo......played the 45 on repeat....great song.
Sound is similar, dynamics similar ...but a generation apart!
except ace of base are not married to each other lol
@@deesee3622 as three of them were siblings, I am most relieved!
The piano intro of this song was included at the end of "Keep An Eye On Dan", a track from ABBA's new album.
This was my favourite ABBA song when I was little. I played the cassette tape so much that it eventually sounded like they were under water. ☘️
My favourite ABBA song. The only other one that can match it, in my opinion, is Knowing Me, Knowing You.
This song and Fernado are my favourite Abba songs 💖
Try "Put on your white sombrero" and "Move on" lesser known ABBA songs which are also great tunes! 😍👍🇬🇧
One of my favourites is the often overlooked 'Does Your Mother Know'. An absolute stormer of a track! Check it out Jay.
Their Hits just kept on Coming and Coming!!!!!
Love ABBA, these songs never get old, even when I was 1 yrs old when this came out 😉
Thx for reacting 🎤🎶💜
#lottalove was brought up with ABBA! It's in our DNA as a Swede! =D They are soooo much all what we are! =D
one of my fave ABBA songs! ♥
You should listen to Eagle, one of my favourite Abba songs....
Here are those beautiful tweety birds again x
I had the 45 of this when I was 12. Their best song IMO❤️
Please listen to ABBA'S song, "I have a dream". It is beautiful like a spiritual experience.
The Super 70s was just LOADED with beautiful, actually talented chicks back in the 70s!
Perfection over and over again !!! Thanks for bringing this back out there to fresh ears who may not of had the privilege 🎶
I love ABBA
"Eagle" is also a very nice song of Abba, u might wanna react to that as well 😉
Almost everything from Abba is brilliant. It's a shame that most of the modern youth dismiss their music because it's "Old".
This is my favorite Abba song! Glad you listened to it!😊
This original audio of SOS you heard, is a favorite pop song of pro musicians from the 70s, like Pete Townsend of th Who, and Elvis Costello, to name a few.
Instant flashbacks to roller skating rinks in the 70s
