I find it so funny that so many people are surprised Ishida loves romance and comedy lol. This man wrote so much comedy and a whole-ass straightforward Touka x Kaneki romance since day 1! He had them go through so much and so many tropes: from initial dislike to lovers and beacon of coexistence, gradual mutual understanding and respect, attraction, rom-com situations, overprotectiveness, longing, pining, angst, feelings that get through even amnesia, being the only one to affect and hold power over all personalities of the partner, never having a third person as a possible love interest - only these two, epic reunions, a whole sex scene, marriage, pregnancy, reason to live, rescues and so on. i think there's something poetic about kaneki saying in the end how his life would be a tragic book, and in the end he gets to live happily, purely by chance because ayato managed to find and drag him out. he could have easily died there and that would definitely be the point where he died, yet, again, he lived. He completed his character arc, so this outcome was not good or bad or right or wrong, it just was.

Great interview, I’m actually happy with Tokyo Ghoul’s ending, if Kaneki had died it’d have been too edgy and empty, although I was expecting that to happen at some point and Touka being with that baby by herself and such, it made more sense, but it didn’t feel as right as this ending was, I think Ishida made the right choice in the end, so sorry the anime is going to ruin such a good story, I hope it gets a remake by another studio ;-; Btw I’m so shook by Ishida and his dedication to chapter 125, I honestly would like to read a romance manga made by him, he did a good job with Kaneki and Touka’s relationship so I’d probably end up liking any pairing he writes ahahaha
I personally am glad that someone else had the same opinion which was of the story being better if Kaneki had just died, and that Sui Ishida originally thought of it happening. Many things were glossed and/or rushed over by the end of the manga too, such as the history 24th ward, how Hide learned about the Washuu secret/why they were hunting Hide, the resurrection research of Kanou, V, how Arima was able to predict what was going to happen, how Hide survived from being eaten by Kaneki, Touka's pregnancy (as in how was the baby able to survive since a female ghoul's body would have consumed the half-human child within her thinking it was food, and the child is confirmed to be half-human since in the last chapter touka said the child loves apples) and much more (including Hide's past/history which was only revealed swiftly in the last chapter, and because so much mystery was put over him before the reveal I think Sui Ishida may have had plans for him that he didn't put in the manga because he was stressed from doing the manga endlessly for so long), but I understand it is because Sui Ishida was overwhelmed with work. Generally I am happy that Sui Ishida had this interview, though. Cleared up some things in my mind, leaves me with some closure about Tokyo Ghoul.
@@theelevatedone3944 I can see and understand your reasoning as well as respect it. In my opinion the way you described it would have been more preferable than how it actually ended.
I've always loved kaneki as a character because he was interesting and different from the happy go lucky or sadistic from the get go of the story. Kaneki just reminds me of a character that I grew up on. I'm gonna miss the story qbut I'm also glad it ended the way it did. So thanks to the bottom of my heart to the creator for such a masterpiece

Imo, i think ishida hate bad/tragic ending..and that's the reason why he chose happy end/route. I've noticed this ever since the first part of tokyo ghoul. Writing tragic stories does not necessarily mean you like tragic ending.
5:33 "During serialization I felt like I'd been taken over by a different person." Looks like Eren decided to publish another manga in a different body.
I love Tokyo ghoul so much I bought the manga books. Most manga I read online but only few that makes we want to have the books so I can read and have it many times. Tokyo Ghoul has the most beautifull art and artstyle and stuff of all. I LOVE the chess floor, chair, tarot cards, the faded artsyles and harmonic colors, the psycho things, the masks, the hidden meanings in the drawings (like Kanekis hand on chin, Utas tattoo on the neck..) , the king stuff, the spider lily, dark blood style and so much more. I don’t like the anime that much coz they have so charp lines and stuff, ofc it’s easier to animate when it’s charp.
I have to say that at the very last bit i expected to see everyone happy and go to see Touka and their child, only for the last panel to be Kaneki's grave. I understand why ishida didnt but i feel it would have ended it better as kaneki said himself, his story is a tragedy.
I love that after UA-cam singer and The Voice alumn Christina Grimmie was murdered in 2016, Ishida chose to honor both her talent and love of anime/manga with an original illustration. www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2016/06/12-1/tokyo-ghoul-author-pays-tribute-to-slain-singer-christina-grimmie
I think that Kaneki's daughter's hair is black and white because when Kaneki was Sasaki he just wanted to protect his family and spend time with them and enjoying the his life and that means that Kaneki's daughter is just like that and I think if she ever going through struggles or her personality is going to change her hair color will change too
I think the ending was nice because all the characters had a sad story so at the end they can be happy especially kaneki with his relationship with touka and the marriage and all that , im sorry my English is bad /:
I like this guy more after this Video, he's the guy who give me so much heartbreak when the manga was ongoing he made me think that all of it's Character will end up dead then at the end give us a happy ending. Edit: I wonder if he's friends with Isayama.
Guys please i wanna know why the studio destroyed the manga like that?? The manga is so great so awesome and its so long story the anime just so small and stupid, thank u
Why there no Image of sui ishida on internet I really wanna know the artist behind this master piece, sui sensei should expose and interact himself with tg fans.
Well since this isn't his own real ending, then I hope when he recovers and feels well again, he can draw out the ending that he wanted. This is my vision of the ending besides the one we got. See instead of wanting to see Kaneki dying like most people, I actually wanted to see Touka dying giving birth and Kaneki has to take full responsibilities of taking care of their child. Sad but sweet. Losing an important person in your life but also gaining another. And you could see that after Touka death, its really affected him. He even goes as far as to give it up but then he remembers their daughter. After a while, he feels more happy and has more will to live since he doesn't want their daughter to suffer the same problem as them: the fear of being alone and because he wanted to take care of her, not just for his but for Touka's.
I love this interview, but what shocks me the most was that Ishida admitted he usually like romances and comedies. I NEVER would have expected that from a seinen tragedy mangaka.

Its 2021 and I just discovered this channel being mentioned in one of the comments of the video of yutaka yamada's masterpiece for tg, and now I just wanna say that I'm thankful I feel like I have someone that knows what I feel right now cos I just finished the manga and I am so emotional rn
Holy fuck dude I love your intro, it’s super nostalgic and it’s great
I hope hes healed now.
Can’t wait for Jack Jeanne. Hopefully they decide on an international release
Imo, i think ishida hate bad/tragic ending..and that's the reason why he chose happy end/route. I've noticed this ever since the first part of tokyo ghoul. Writing tragic stories does not necessarily mean you like tragic ending.
Well i could be wrong but regardless of the circumstances im satisfied and happy about the ending.
I don’t understand how kanekis daughter has white hair when kaneki’s real hair color is black
Thanks :)
I have to say that at the very last bit i expected to see everyone happy and go to see Touka and their child, only for the last panel to be Kaneki's grave. I understand why ishida didnt but i feel it would have ended it better as kaneki said himself, his story is a tragedy.
Just like someone writing a book for long enough, sometimes you fall out of love with your own work. I can understand why he wanted to quit.
Damn, why can't Ishida make a face reveal? I really want to see his face.
Why tho?
Not mean to bother him, besides it bugs me not knowing his face.
I respect Sui Ishida a whole lot but I think it's unfair to ignore the hundreds of other manga writers/artists who went through similar hardships
I love that after UA-cam singer and The Voice alumn Christina Grimmie was murdered in 2016, Ishida chose to honor both her talent and love of anime/manga with an original illustration. www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2016/06/12-1/tokyo-ghoul-author-pays-tribute-to-slain-singer-christina-grimmie
Hes currently coming up with a manga right now! I'm hyped! It wont be like TG though
I think that Kaneki's daughter's hair is black and white because when Kaneki was Sasaki he just wanted to protect his family and spend time with them and enjoying the his life and that means that Kaneki's daughter is just like that and I think if she ever going through struggles or her personality is going to change her hair color will change too
Wow well this was a good interview even though its over it was a awesome read
I think the ending was nice because all the characters had a sad story so at the end they can be happy especially kaneki with his relationship with touka and the marriage and all that , im sorry my English is bad /:
Why can’t I find enough things about Tokyo ghoul on yt, there’s like barley any
I am a Christian, too...
tbh id like to see a one shot of kaneki and everyone reminiscing about the past
I like this guy more after this Video, he's the guy who give me so much heartbreak when the manga was ongoing he made me think that all of it's Character will end up dead then at the end give us a happy ending.
Edit: I wonder if he's friends with Isayama.
Guys please i wanna know why the studio destroyed the manga like that?? The manga is so great so awesome and its so long story the anime just so small and stupid, thank u
Budgeting and care. Wrong studio chosen for the job as the genre doesn’t fit them as well either
you know what while watching tg I didn't realised it was made by some mere human it seemed like ken himself wrote this
Hope he gets another child and that son will be the next big thing in the Tokyo ghoul.
a 7 year long journey. wow.
I'm missing Ishida's writing so much...
The fact that we don’t know who he really looks like.
There's a part two to the interview right?
Maybe not
An interview!!
Good God, this guy is a wonder of wonders
Can you plz write more sui ishida im asking as a request not a deman buy if you did it would be appreciated
I still have a question about that ending. Where's Amon & Akira ? Are they died ? No, that's impossible. Now, WHERE ARE THEY ?
Dresrosa what's next?
Yo dress have you ever thought of doing analyses of the crazy subtle symbolism in TG like the tarot cards and flowers and such?
In his Facebook page he posted a vote for a part 3
It's perfect yes. - Feral - the end lol yes
Things the thumbnail image is another person drew.
so your telling me kaneki could of been dead...
I like the ending
I wonder what did he mean by 'possessed'? And I hope he's okay now
Background music sounds like sad minecraft music.
I just want to know why can ghouls only drink coffee and water, it doesn’t make sense to me ):
Why there no Image of sui ishida on internet I really wanna know the artist behind this master piece, sui sensei should expose and interact himself with tg fans.
Let’s respect his privacy, he doesn’t have to do anything and I’d choose to be private if I were him more
@@beelzebitchh I agree to you,I was just fascinated to know him more...
Rosa interview when?
I have only a question for ishida " touka was a virgin before being with Kaneki?
as long as this is NOT his real ending, I can imagine whatever ending like in my head like I always do lol
0:06 MEME REVIEW
sorry lol
Best girl hairu for ishida
you should make videos about My Hero Academia
When will season 5 come out?
Thanks also first
I hava a question will Sui Ishida come in the future with a new manga??
Ngl, would love TG more if it had bad ending lmao
why does kanekis kid have white hair if kanekis hair was originally black
Probably because he was haise
That was deep...
as a kiddie pool or middle school psych class XD.
