I like Sui Ishida man. He deserves a brake. He has never said specifically he was passionate about manga like other mangaka. He just said he like drawing things. For such a person to write a good manga is astonishing. I don't want that talent to go to waste. I hope he gets back after the brake.
TG getting an ending in a way is a blessing. You can just ask any Vagabond fan.

I think that's selling him a little short. The way he described analyzing the documentary he watched and incorporating that concept into his story line, or how he didn't just make doing the artwork for toka and kanekis DeX scene sacred but the dialogue too. He's a super intelligent guy who was using the writing process to work through his own emotions as much as any thing. The art and the story go hand and hand. Not to mention imho tokyo ghoul before re really showed what he could do with a story. All the character metaphors and talk about books. It was like a love letter to his favorite writers. The slump I'd imagine was because of how much pressure he was under. Imagine the flip side of vagabond was rushed and the ending felt untrue(I know how arbitrary that sounds but I think you get me). I'd flip out lol. That's hard to say too because I trade 100 berserks to get an ending to vagabond. Am I just rambling or do you see where I'm coming from lol.

The chapters related to Kaneki after the dragon Incident and Kaneki vs Furuta are proofs of that.
I think he thought I don't have enough chapters to show proper conclusion to all the characters so I might as well focus on Kaneki.
In mean in Mustuki vs Quinx ; Yomo vs Uta and Donato vs Amon the sentiments were definitely there but given how fast it happened even though we knew those sentiments we did feel it.
What I didn't like was bringing back characters and killing them offscreen It felt like he was trying to show all the kinds of abilities he had thought related to Kagune and RC cells.
He created situations convenient for the plot which didn't feel natural but I must make it clear that I won't call this manipulation of situation an asspull. I consider something an asspull if it doesn't follow already made rules in the plot and already established characterization.

I find it so funny that so many people are surprised Ishida loves romance and comedy lol. This man wrote so much comedy and a whole-ass straightforward Touka x Kaneki romance since day 1! He had them go through so much and so many tropes: from initial dislike to lovers and beacon of coexistence, gradual mutual understanding and respect, attraction, rom-com situations, overprotectiveness, longing, pining, angst, feelings that get through even amnesia, being the only one to affect and hold power over all personalities of the partner, never having a third person as a possible love interest - only these two, epic reunions, a whole sex scene, marriage, pregnancy, reason to live, rescues and so on. He even wrote Amon-Akira-Seidou love triangle on the side, he threw everything but the kitchen sink in this - and all this in a manga like Tokyo Ghoul xD The dude LOVES his romance lmao. And you didn't even have to hear his thoughts about 125, it was obvious from just reading the chapter.
I always thought people who considered him as a tragedy boner guy were way off the mark about him.
P.S. I'm glad to know that the scenes Ishida himself finds most impactful are among my all-time favorites and the ones that impacted me the most. It makes me feel like we had a perfect writer-reader tandem and that I was his right audience with being on the same page, if I'm making any sense.

i think there's something poetic about kaneki saying in the end how his life would be a tragic book, and in the end he gets to live happily, purely by chance because ayato managed to find and drag him out. he could have easily died there and that would definitely be the point where he died, yet, again, he lived. He completed his character arc, so this outcome was not good or bad or right or wrong, it just was.

I have never believed in the idea that a single person can save the world by himself.
This is a fun question. Don't take it seriously. Dragon Cells => Rebirth Operation => less people dying due to disease and injuries (Kuroiwa) => Rapid increase in population => Lack of Resources => World War 3.

I personally am glad that someone else had the same opinion which was of the story being better if Kaneki had just died, and that Sui Ishida originally thought of it happening. Many things were glossed and/or rushed over by the end of the manga too, such as the history 24th ward, how Hide learned about the Washuu secret/why they were hunting Hide, the resurrection research of Kanou, V, how Arima was able to predict what was going to happen, how Hide survived from being eaten by Kaneki, Touka's pregnancy (as in how was the baby able to survive since a female ghoul's body would have consumed the half-human child within her thinking it was food, and the child is confirmed to be half-human since in the last chapter touka said the child loves apples) and much more (including Hide's past/history which was only revealed swiftly in the last chapter, and because so much mystery was put over him before the reveal I think Sui Ishida may have had plans for him that he didn't put in the manga because he was stressed from doing the manga endlessly for so long), but I understand it is because Sui Ishida was overwhelmed with work. Generally I am happy that Sui Ishida had this interview, though. Cleared up some things in my mind, leaves me with some closure about Tokyo Ghoul.

Tokyo Ghoul has the most beautifull art and artstyle and stuff of all. I LOVE the chess floor, chair, tarot cards, the faded artsyles and harmonic colors, the psycho things, the masks, the hidden meanings in the drawings (like Kanekis hand on chin, Utas tattoo on the neck..) , the king stuff, the spider lily, dark blood style and so much more. I don’t like the anime that much coz they have so charp lines and stuff, ofc it’s easier to animate when it’s charp.

I love that after UA-cam singer and The Voice alumn Christina Grimmie was murdered in 2016, Ishida chose to honor both her talent and love of anime/manga with an original illustration. www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2016/06/12-1/tokyo-ghoul-author-pays-tribute-to-slain-singer-christina-grimmie

I think that Kaneki's daughter's hair is black and white because when Kaneki was Sasaki he just wanted to protect his family and spend time with them and enjoying the his life and that means that Kaneki's daughter is just like that and I think if she ever going through struggles or her personality is going to change her hair color will change too

Edit: I wonder if he's friends with Isayama.

    • @theelevatedone3944
      @theelevatedone3944 6 років тому +1

Well since this isn't his own real ending, then I hope when he recovers and feels well again, he can draw out the ending that he wanted.
This is my vision of the ending besides the one we got.
See instead of wanting to see Kaneki dying like most people, I actually wanted to see Touka dying giving birth and Kaneki has to take full responsibilities of taking care of their child.
Sad but sweet. Losing an important person in your life but also gaining another.
And you could see that after Touka death, its really affected him. He even goes as far as to give it up but then he remembers their daughter. After a while, he feels more happy and has more will to live since he doesn't want their daughter to suffer the same problem as them: the fear of being alone and because he wanted to take care of her, not just for his but for Touka's.
