I think this song is about how RWBY and JNR finally feel like they can be kids again. When Beacon fell, they had to grow up too fast. When this song plays, they're in Atlas, they're safe, they have a safe place to stay with warm beds and adults to look out for them. This is the first time they've felt safe and carefree since Beacon...If only it could have stayed that way....
Anyone else hoping Casey gets her own character in the show? Really hope so her and Jeff and the other amazing musicians
I mean she "voices" Neo in the fighting game Blue Blaze Cross Battle, but yeah I know what you mean.
@@Gala-dl5kw i must know more, also really hope she gets like a Cameo on the show
It'd be fun if Neo met Fox in vacuo and Casey voiced neos thoughts
Technically she's Weiss whenever She is singing
With all due respect I feel like more self-inserts are the last thing the show needs right now... But a small nod to them would be sweet
The perfect song to play when quarantine is over dont tell me otherwise
I agree!
Honestly I'm loving this quarantine bruh.. *introverted noises uwu*
It'll be perfect to listen to when it's over
I’m bored of quarantine ngl, but always has been enjoying being lazy
Me when I go back to the gym and see my freinds again
Cant help but notice a bit of that "let's just live" motif at 1:05
This song makes me indescribably happy.
I know right? It's my second favorite song from v7
I agree. This is a bob
Same
Honestly, I don’t think this song is for one person. In Volume 6, after Jinn told everyone they couldn’t kill Salem, that was everyone’s lowest point. Ren, Nora, and Jaune didn’t take it very well either. I think this song is just about how much better they all feel now that they know they’re back together, they can become stronger, and now they have a full military behind them, ready to wage war on Salem.
I could be wrong, but honestly? I like the feeling I get when I think of everyone being this happy.
same
Technically, Ozpin asked Djinn "How do I destroy Salem?", she replied "You can't". It's something thats always bugged me and has led me to believe that the way its worded, Ozpin can't, but someone else might be able to because she didn't say "It's impossible" or anything along those lines, just a slightly open ended answer
Point Blank that’s so true, I didn’t even think of that! Maybe the 4 maidens together, or the relics, or the gods, or maybe even Ruby can defeat her.
I feel that the emotional weight of having to fight for their lives through volumes 3-6 has been lifted on them. And now that they are at Atlas Academy it feels like they are back at Beacon. They are refreshed and able to take on the world with the same confidence they had in volumes 1 and 2.
@@pointblank4671 And I luv that Nora pointed it out
I know it sounds like a Blake song, but I really think this could be a Weiss song. All the lyrics are opposite to the "Mirror Mirror"s about her feeling trapped, lonely, and not knowing who her reflection is showing. However "Touch the Sky" is about finally being happy and putting everything behind her. Also, the "I looked in the mirror" part was the icing on the cake. Idk that's just what I think
i think it just applies to lots of different members of the team! so in other words, nobody is wrong haha
I heard lines that definitely seemed to match Blake and Yang, so I wouldn’t be surprised if there was bits for each girl!
To be honest the song could fit for three of the member in rwby.
Weiss, Blake, and Yang.
You're right, but also we have enough Weiss songs and this is Blakes only solo song, just let her have it.
Bad Luck Charm also mentions mirrors and it's very much still Qrow's song and not Weiss'. This song has a bit of Lionize in it at the end that gets interrupted by a piano fading out, similarly to how From Shadows ends. Furthermore on "I looked in the mirror," Blake literally looks into a mirror while cutting off her hair in this very same volume.
I won't deny this could very much be a Weiss song, but honestly, I'd just be disappointed if it WAS yet another Weiss song, she already has a LOT of them. Meanwhile if this is a Blake song then it's her FIRST solo song.
Edit: Also, the "Mirror" mentioned in the Mirror Mirror songs and Weiss' songs in general is representative of the front she puts up. That's why in This Life is Mine she says "Mirror Mirror now we're done." She's already broken the mirror and is done with it, I doubt she'd be looking in the mirror AGAIN. :p Meanwhile in Blake's case she looked into a LITERAL mirror while cutting her hair, liked what she saw, AND the haircut itself represents her newfound freedom.
I wish we all have moments in our lives worthy of this song
This song hits differently when you finally get out of an abusive relationship.
Hope you’re doing okay!
solidarity friend, i know just how you feel
Hell yeah
Props to you man, go and touch the sky
The song is full of a power that feels like you can break free of your demons. Now that I'm on antidepressants the song feels like it's literally breathing life into my heart.
This is the first time, that I can remember, that a RWBY song would have an outro like this
And I love it, and that Jeff & Casey are always trying something fresh with RWBY music
I remember I listened to this song every morning during last year after I accomplished my dream of having a motorcycle and listening to this song while going to work, I have never felt so happy in my life.
RWBY makes for good riding music. ❤❤❤
That outro seems almost like something OK Goodnight would do, maybe showing a bit more writing involvement from Casey?
She wrote "Until The End" from this volume, it's beautiful!
Coming back from Finale of Volume 8 to avoid the depression
Anyone else who can't help but sing along with tears in their eyes as soon as "I looked in the mirror …" starts? Even back when this aired - more so now - a single moment of happiness was so precious and deserved.
If I had one criticism of this song, it feels structurally very similar to the previous one on the album (Trust Love), with the guitar solo and all that. I guess after obsessing over seven albums you kinda get to know someone's songwriting style.
Honestly, I like how similar it is to “Trust Love”! I feel like both “Trust Love” and “Touch the Sky” exudes this overwhelming joy of freedom, hope, and even solace of the future, and I think the world needs more of that feeling right now.
I know I shouldn’t be venting or anything like that here - not the right time and place - but these two songs are currently helping me through a hard time: I learned that my dog had cancer five months ago, and I have a feeling that she won’t last much longer. “Trust Love” is teaching me that as long as I have people to depend on (and some shoulders to cry on) I’ll be able to handle anything life throws at me. And “Touch the Sky” is reminding me that even after my dog passes, I’ll still have some love to spread and that there’s still some happiness out there; maybe I’ll even be happier than I am now.
Those two songs are, to me, living reminders that even during hard times like these, there’s always a reason to be hopeful and happy. I know my dog will pass soon, but we never expected that she’d live this long after we learned she had cancer. Ever since the day my parents told me the news, I been having panic attacks every day; just worrying about “What if this is the day? How will I handle it? Will I have any regrets? Am I able to love another pet after this? Am I going to be able to function after this?” the list goes on and on. But while I’m still worrying about her, I’m also using this time to tell her how much I love her and make sure I leave little-to-no regrets when she does pass so that I’ll do my best to ride these waves of emotion.
Listening to these two songs, especially in context to RWBY as a whole, give me hope that I’ll be able to get through this. Seeing these girls overcome their insecurities, family dynamics, years of abuse and discrimination, and even internal issues like self-loathing and PTSD and how these tribulations made them who they are now and changed for the better inspires me to do the same.
@@NaviNeku24 Hell yeah!
Not with tears, but I sing along with the chorus, it is the reason I fell in love with the song. It speaks to me on a very personal level.
All the people so sure this is one of the other girl... I really think it links to each girl individually, and as a whole! I definitely heard lyrics for Yang, Blake, maybe Weiss... harder to pin Ruby. But I think this is definitely an ensemble piece! ❤️ 🤍🖤💛
So, this song is definitely not about just one singular girl, since it has so many references and nods to every single member of the team, so hooray to another team RWBY song that isn't an intro!
This is such a beautiful song! Perfect for every character that wants to move on from the past. It's actually perfect for one of my Original Characters with a bullied past, but overcame everything that life threw at her. She could even sing it.
This song makes me feel so happy for team rwby and sad at the same moment because they finally found freedom and happiness but now they are going to have to leave it.
The sad piano at the end makes it clear the fun won’t last and it’s so bitter
Unfortunate, but realistic. Happy moments should be treasured, because happiness is something that's easy to take away. Like how we all have that one moment in our lives where we have 2 choices and neither of them are good, but a decision has to be made because "neither" isn't an option. You have to choose which option you believe is the lesser evil.
This just such a perfect song for my birthday, which is today
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! (same birthday as Kara Eberle)
Thank you 😊 (I didn't know my B-day is same day as the ice Queen
Happy belated birthday
Happy late birthday >_○
Happy late bday :D
Honestly this is the song I connect the most with. The years of hell are over and I feel free. I love this music with all my heart.
For some reason I feel like this is a Blake song and I'm so glad to see she's feeling way better than she was back at vol. 4 - 5
I feel it applies to everyone as they can relax a bit after everything
I think its a whole team rwby song. Bits for weiss, yang, blake and ruby
I've been waiting for this song the most. Makes me feel like I'm flying myself!
Same
i got the same feeling
I really loved this one more than I thought I would. I feel like a kid on Christmas!
Man, Jeff really went wild on the bass this album. (That is a bass guitar, and not a synth, right?) Either way, I love it, and I like that they did another longer outro that we haven't really seen since From Shadows I think.
And as a person with chronic bouts of depression, that chorus hits in such a good way.
It could have been played on a synth.. but the sound idea seems like a fretless electric bass to me.
I totally feel the same way about the chorus. Sometimes depression can get the better of you/us, but when it finally clears (which I hope it does for all of us) for a while and I feel that sort of up-swing, it feels like this song plays on repeat.
Point I'm trying to make is that RWBY songs have always been so damn effective in being relatable and motivating. Stay strong, fellow fan!
Anybody else get crush 40 vibes from this? Like the guy who wrote some of the music for sonic the hedgehog. You know you can totally imagine collecting rings and running through a sunny environment with this music! I love how fast and upbeat it is. That bass kicks ass
I bet Sterling will shit himself when he hears the bass line for the first time
Bro this is the perfect song for when quarantine ends too
@@SirsMadamsEntertainment You guys planning to do a soundtrack reaction video?
Ex Team Rocket Grunt ..yes
When 2:21 hits, oh man. GOOSEBUMPS
This song came at the perfect time for me. Needed some more songs that help keep me going.
When the Williams write a better emotion-driven story within 5 minutes than the actual show.
STILL MY FAVORITE SONG FROM THIS SOUNDTRACK
I was so excited tor this song and I was not let down! Jeff and Casey, you’ve done it again
I genuinely don't think this song is in reference to any of the characters at all, it really is just such a feel good song. I've been able to connect with it more personally, and I always listen to it when I want to feel better. It doesn't NEED to be linked to any of the characters, because at this point the fanbase is just as important in helping the show grow. It's a song for all of you
I didn't realize this was a Weiss song at first but god it feels so nice to hear such a happy song from the girl who was so sad when the show started.
I saw someone dislike this video but why?! This is such an inspirational and happy song!
Am I the only one who thinks this makes a nice companion piece to Like Morning Follows Night?
TEARS AND GOOSBUMPS
THE FEELING OF BEING FLYING THROUGH THE AIR
THE SONG MATCHES PERFECTLY WITH THE SCENE
YOU CASEY AND JEFF REALLY DESERVE TO BE FAMOUS
AS THE GREATEST ONES
AND NOT ONLY BE KNOWN AS A PART OF THE SHOW
SALUTATIONS FROM GUARENAS VENEZUELA
My opinion for this song is that, this is a everybody song, because they all have been through a lot in the past, but now they are free and alive! But for the most part I kind of feel like this is a team RWBY song. And I just love the beat and everything to this song! Definitely playing this after all this COVID19 has passed! Really good and motivating song! God Bless you guys and stay safe!
It's a very small detail, but I love the little synth that goes by after the verse, "switched on, revved up, turbo mode, vitality."
I'm easily amused, I suppose.
HyperHunt621 nah.. small things have big impacts... one of the greatest moments in Beethoven’s 9th symphony is just a simple chord change at the right time...
this gives off so much jaune energy i refuse to believe it’s for anyone else
okay okay so i actually feel it encompasses all of their emotions, but i get to choose and i’m choosing jaune
the whole bridge part is what gives it away for me. about leaving the past behind and learning to trust in himself. trust in himself as a leader.
also the one line about felling like the stars have all aligned can relate back to shine, where there’s a lyric about how their stars gonna align.
04:20 This is my favorite part !
..
it is. I mean , I love the whole song but can't help saying that with Elm's voice in that moment.
Great job, guys !
If RWBY had ending songs like other animes, this would be the one for Volume 7😁😁😁
This sounds like an anime song! I dig it
im so happy i waited soooooooooo long!!!! for this!!!
Gosh just a great song to listen to when feeling gloomy and down. Fills me with perpose and hope, even in theses times we're living in :)
This song could have been a cool opening for volume 7
I wish an opening sounded like this
Ruby's taller than Weiss, sound the alarms.
I feel like this isn't a character specific song, but rather one for Teams RWBY and JNR overall after the events of V6.
I always found the very ending very unorthodox for Rwby, to have this long ending over what they've done in the past.
Always? You mean the couple hours this was out before your comment posted? 😅
Honestly, when this song originally played during the episode. I thought that the segment was taken towards the middle, instead of the end
YES IT FINALLY HERE
I'm only here for the landing strategies
Whooooh!
Dunno why some parts gives me Sonic Adventure vibes.
I wish these songs could have unique music videos. I could totally see a story going along with this aside from RWBY. Like about four different people of varying ages putting their all into their goals. Then when it hits at 1:10 it goes from reality to abstract and we see these ordinary people flying.
I absolutely love this song I wanna use it for a montage but this is copyrighted and like its so good I’m worried I can’t give it the glory it deserves
Rwby honestly needs more feel good songs!
ABSOLUTE FUCKING BANNER, might just be my favorite
Me when I exit quarantine into the last half of school
This is definitely another Weiss song, and I love it.
Before, she always looked at the mirror and asked herself what kind of person she was, or that if she could even trust anyone. Her life before Beacon as the Schnee Heiress was cold and empty, and full of scorn. She was, in a way, a bird locked in a cage, and the key was thrown away.
Then she came to Beacon, and after being on the team for some time she finally realized that her father truly was garbage. She started to grow out of her shell, and though it was a difficult transformation for her she finally broke free. And while she broke free of her cage, she still needed to learn how to fly.
When Beacon fell and she was taken back to Atlas, she was locked in that cage again. But this time, she knew how rotten her father and brother were, and she was dissatisfied. And when Jacques made Whitley the heir instead of Weiss, that was the final straw. She broke out, and eventually managed to reunite with her team. She broke out of her cage and shattered the mirror that reflected her pain, and she flew to the people that made it possible for her.
When everyone had to go to Atlas, Weiss hated it but endured through it all the same. And though she had to deal with her father, she did it with pride. She finally knew how to fly, and wasn't held down by her family anymore. And when she got Jacques arrested later in the Volume, she knew she was finally free. The cage that held her was in pieces, and she could now look in the mirror and see the Huntress - the PERSON - she wanted to be.
...Of course, then the end of the Volume happened. But that's irrelevant to the song lol
No
@@ienzio7795 Yes ^.^
really? i think its a song for all of RWBY. theres lyrics that go with yang, weiss, and blake. havent found any for ruby, though
Team rwby song
I just gotta say, that damn bassline.
This song is Blake's song, can't change my mind 🖤✨
It's an everyone's song, they literally have the whole team when the song plays and it fits with everyone.
Enigma I don’t think you changed their mind
Almost forgot to listen to this today, glad I didn't though. I love this song!
This song is awesome but I'm really sad how they got rid of the beginning guitar riff that set up the mood super well to just get into action. It was the best part!
I want to see omega spark do a rap song in this show and Brandon Yates and Therewolf Media to do some music for them (those two make the music for death battle and ngl I prefer those tracks then most of the rwby songs)
Everyone says it's a Blake song, the lyrics are Weiss-y, sounds like a little like a Ruby song to me with a slight chance of Yang tuning in on this
2:22
Still waiting on team JNPR theme...
I think this is an everyone song
Wait... This isn't a Kanye West song...
tom petty
Holy. Fuck.
Rwby may have gone to shit but this...
I really, really needed this.
The only thing from RWBY that hasn't decline in quality the music. Jeff Williams will always be a better writer than Miles and Kerry.
Can you not??
Even if the shows gone to shit
Its music is still 100% a bop
It hasn't gone to shit.
@@Cepheus773 okay, have fun with your opinion there buddy
Everyone has a right to their opinion. I'm in the middle with it.
