Hey everybody, unfortunately since I’m headed to Texas today for RTX this coming weekend, I won’t be able to make lyric videos for the remaining songs until I come back Monday next week. Sorry for not being able to get them all out before then!
Hey, we can wait. I'd love to see the full lyrics for "Big Metal Shoe" in order to check all the references. Seriously, with all the nursery rhymes and fairy tale references, it'll be worth the wait to see how many there are.
I love this because it's almost like Salem hijacked the song halfway through and then Ruby and co. take it back and double down on the optimistic first part.
I kinda took it as Apathy from Brunswick. The entire song lowkey could be. Starts off fairly normal with some dark/hopeless undertones and slowly draws the will/hope out of the song until it gets optimistic again
"I swear it showed up out of thin air A miracle right in front of our eyes" this could mean the silver eyes from Ruby working when they where with the Apathy
I’d also say that the background music for volume 6 is the best as well. And its kind of disappointing how the background music of this series gets ignored so often.
2:23 - 3:26 is the best part of the whole song. The way the chorus ties into the mood change before we’re hit with dark themes, heavy riffs, and thrashy drums. I hope we see more of this style in Volume 7’s soundtrack!
I remember hearing this for the first time in theaters when they did the Fathom Events thing,,, the reverb and echo of the theater made it go so HARD and it STILL DOES _and I love it_
Amazing work on this! Personally, I think that the lyrics not only talk about still trying to fight despite Ozpin's path not seeming right (especially because of the reveal), but the "miracle" itself is either foreshadowing something in another Volume or it's Ruby's Silver Eyes. In any case, our heroes will keep at it despite what they now know.
I wonder if a miracle will never come but that was never the point, gods never saved people they should have , so if a miracle requires the power of something like a god... Would it even happen
I love this song SO MUCH!!!!! It goes from dark and what's the point, to, we can do it no matter what. I love it, so freaking inspiring. Thanks again Flynt for making these. Have a great time at RTX!!!!!!
This is really one of my favorite songs from RWBY, it has the themes of optimism though tragedy and struggle, it is more vague to allow for more freedom in the lyrics, and therefore allows said lyrics to flow better in my opinion than some of the songs that try to be really specific and end up with really unsubtle lyrics that feel a bit forced. While I’ll admit that the solo is a bit less impressive than a lot of others, it does have those incredible moments of harmony between Jeff and Casey’s voices alongside some piano, guitar, et cetera. Also, Casey really went hard with the vocals of this one.
Volume 6 Chapter 1 is my favorite chapter of the series. Not just because of this song (although it's no small part) but because it had everything; great character moments, great action, a full story, and a super solid hook for the rest of the Volume. Hope V7's start is just as amazing.
I really love the song when it reaches 2:45 it just gives me the chills at the way they both sound together along with the beat and rhythm of the song and lyrics.
goin through a ton of rwby music rn. this fuckin song tho. i am literally in love with this song. ive barely stopped listening to it in the couple days since i listened to it again
I feel like towards the end of the series its going to come to needing to kill Salem but nobody else will want to except Oz and this miracle they're talking about is a solution that doesnt involve killing her.
This song is so interesting to study in contrast with Triumph and Rising in particular. Triumph (v5): "The battle seems unwinnable, but all we need's a miracle." "The triumph will be ours!" And at the end of that volume, they *got* their triumph. They saved Haven, reunited their team, protected the relic, brought Weiss back from the brink of death, while Blake faced down Adam and overcame his extreme message. The main characters handed the bad guys their first real defeat, and so going into volume 6, they're riding a high of optimism and fresh hope. Rising captures a snapshot of their emotions at that point, with its numerous references back to the optimism of volume 1; the main characters feel like they're the heroes of the story again, that they can overcome anything the bad guys can throw at them, and that they're just a few pages away from their happy ending. But then, with the simple revelation that Ozpin is still hiding things from them, that illusion is shattered and we immediately see the emotional swing. "A miracle is all we need, but there isn't one in sight." "Our triumphs haven't mattered. We're drifting ever backwards." The characters suddenly realize that they aren't just a few simple steps from a happy ending, that the path ahead is far less clear and far more terrible than they've ever let themselves believe. The true measure of how much impact Ozpin's latest deceit has had is that, for the first time we hear them not only reference the hardship of their path forward, and actually question whether the path they're on and the people they've trusted are even the right ones. Numerous lyrics here reference the characters working to maintain their faith in what they're doing, but that faith has still clearly been shaken to a degree we've never seen previously. And that, of course, marks the beginning of the plot arc that covers the first half of the volume.
The RWBY crew never even lost any battle from volume 4 or 5, not even 6. Name one time where tje villains actually win against the heroes other than the Fall of Beacon.
@@sparktwochristopher7240 "Other than the Fall of Beacon"? You mean by far the most traumatic event in the entire series, where their sanctuary was destroyed, their seemingly untouchable mentor was killed, one of their friends was killed, two of them suffered serious injuries, and ultimately they proved entirely unable to do what they had trained all that time to do: protect the world from evil. Throughout volumes 4 and 5, the memory of those losses at Beacon and/or the prospect of it happening again at Haven hangs over the characters' heads the entire time. Beating a couple of big Grimm or even fending off Tyrian (which they needed some serious help to do) doesn't come anywhere close to balancing that. It's only the events at Haven which seriously restore their sense of hope; that battle meant facing everything the bad guys could throw at them (other than Salem herself) to prevent a second Fall of Beacon, only this time they won.
@@Wolfeson28 Exactly, they won, and didn't lose. This song was about fighting a hopeless battle.. Which doesn't make any sense after they've won all of their battles. In season 5, they beat Tyrian, all of Salem's forces, and even Adam. Plus Pyrrha's death was practically meaningless since Ren and Nora and the rest act like she didn't even exist, only Jaune did. Otherwise, the entire RNJR team would've shown how much her death affected them. Don't get me started on Blake and her so-called "moment of victory", she burned down the house and says "We did this, Faunus did this" like what? Also the heroes pretty much one because the villains suddenly became incompetent that time, like with Cinder suddenly paying attention to Jaune than Ruby. Plus Opzin died..only to come back pretty soon, which already restored their hope when they just got to Haven, which contradicts this song's feeling of hopelessness which doesn't make any sense to be hopeless when they've got a relic. I get what you're trying to convey, but this song doesn't justify terrible writing one bit. Also trust me, I have Miles and Kerry the benefit of the doubt many times, but after seeing more of the flaws of Season 5 and 6, and their behavior even (including the scandal with Vic), I'm not gonna even try to defend them anymore. I can thank Adel aka for pointing out the flaws and inconsistencies in themes that the show is trying to convey so far. Sorry for ranting a bit there, but I'm just saying, this song is great, too great for even what RWBY even is at this point. I'm still a RWBY fan, but I'm sticking to the 1st 3 volumes for now.
I love how the first half of the song foreshadows the betrayal in volume 6 and how the second half foreshadows a solution to Salem that may or may not happen in volume 7
