In hillclimb you can go when you want as soon as the light is green, the time just starts running when you cross the starting line

This was last year with the original final drive ratio, since mid of last year we have a new ratio for the hillclimbs! Tyres are always a bit cold on the start as you have no warm up lap or tyre heaters

Fantastic driving, using the full width of the road in some very fast sections!

    Yes, I agree !
We are using the standard engine from Mecacrome but modified by Swiss Racing Engineering from 4L to 3L.

You are completely right, the biggest difference is in the slow corners, the GP2 generates a lot of aero downforce at higher speed and more competitive in fast corners.
Yes we will be again in Trento!

    First thank you !
It depends on the steering rack you use, but with the most common one it is around 270°.

i need to get on this hill in the next few years! Much longer and faster than our hillclimbs in cornwall.
    Great Driving.

The main differences is that the FA30 was build to race on hillclimbs. The GP2 was build to race on circuits. The GP2 weighs about 60 kg more an is much longer. A big difference as well is that the FA30 has no security at all, it does not even have a carbon chassis, the GP2 however has the same crash tests as the F1 nowadays which makes it a very safe car. At the moment it will be difficult to beat the Osellas but we are working hard to improve our car to beat them in the future !

Great idea to bring the GP2 into hillclimb. Can you tell us what gear ratios are you using on this particular track. It seems that a closer one would bennefit a lot but thats me thinking. At the begining it seemed that the tires were not propperly warmed. Best of luck for the future and keep on posting!!!

I notice that through the early corners the car was a bit skittish compared to corners further up the course. Was that due to them being slow and lack of downforce or the tyres weren't up to heat? Whatever, I have now watched a few of your videos and it is very impressive driving given any mistake is going to end in tears.

Both, cold tires and low downforce. Formulas are notorious for being somewhat underwhelming in slow corners.

If it were up to me sequential gearboxes would be outlawed in all forms of motor racing.

    • @ThePaulv12
      @ThePaulv12 5 років тому

....we put up with another motorsport event sans a vital skill of the past. We got rid of aerodynamic skirts in motor racing for this sort of reason, we can do it for sequential gearboxes too.
There is just nothing good about sequential for the spectator that couldn't be made better by their removal.
That's what, so....... stick that in yur pipe and smoke it!
