Welcome to the official UA-cam channel of The Monkees, home of 60s chart-topping hits “Last Train To Clarksville,” “I’m A Believer” and “Daydream Believer,” as well as multi-platinum, #1 albums ‘The Monkees,’ ‘More of the Monkees,’ ‘Headquarters’ and ‘Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones, Ltd.’
Monkee-mania began in Los Angeles in 1965 when Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith, the late Peter Tork and the late Davy Jones were cast in the eponymous television series about a struggling rock band inspired by The Beatles’ A Hard Day’s Night. The quartet brought a singular mix of pop, rock, psychedelia, Broadway and country to their resulting music. By the time the series aired its final episode on March 25, 1968, The Monkees had sold 16 million albums and 7.5 million singles. Few could have predicted the impact The Monkees would have on music and pop culture at large, one that still reverberates more than 50 years later.

THE MONKEES ARE MY OBSESSION
Original film masters tend to fade overtime. Thank goodness we now have the technology to restore these.
The show itself was silly, but the intro was WONDERFUL!
For that record, The Monkees aired from Sept 12, 1966-Aug 19, 1968. For the remaning 4 seasons (1969-73) of The Monkees aired on CBS and ABC Saturday Mornings consisted entirely of reruns of all the 58 episodes. To coincide with the releases of The Monkees Present and Changes albums during this time period, many episodes replaced the older songs with tracks from these recent releases (this strategy was also employed during the summer of 1967, when many of the first-season episodes had their songs from the first two albums replaced with songs from the then-current single and from the third album Headquarters).
Looks amazing and way more colorful! I wish I had a dollar for everytime I saw this opening sequence. lol Love them! R.I.P. Davy
The Monkeemobile is finally red, not orange! 👍
I'm feeling very bad today
A red monkeemobile got in my way
It followed me around
but never touched the ground
What can I say.
Fun fact: It started out as a fictional band, with Micky only being an actor in the beginning, but the studio hired a tutor and taught him how to play drums off camera. Next thing you know, they're a real band, playing real music, and wound up recording some of the most iconic songs of all time!
The next line would be .."The Monkees sponsored by Kellogg's. K . E ..double L.. O..double GGood.. Kellogg's Best To You"
you know it's old when they say "we're the young generation"
How?
I fell in love with the Monkees tv show in black and white back in the 60s
We didn't have color here in Australia until 1975.
ps, The " side by side comparison" is only the first 15 seconds.
Amaxing restoration! Micky sliding down the banister into Mikes PINK cake! Love that scene
Bunch of stunnas
Love the monkees seen them three times live in Liverpool
PETER
Wow the difference is amazing! I wish this was coming out next month instead of January. I can't wait to watch it.
I missed out on the blu ray box set (boo!) but hope the restored series ends up being seen on TV, one day soon. It's about time - I've not seen the series in years.
I managed to get a second hand copy minus the box and 7" single in February. It cost me £250 but where will you find another?
What's this now you all, have you all suddenly come back from the dead? It's about how the way the 'Monkees' first season intro was restored 🙌 ✨️ 👏 ♥️ ❤️ 😍 🙌 🤔 🤯
omg... it's... it's amazing!!! omg!!!
Really want to get it!! 😍
They are using Vox Super Beatle guitar amps as most famous groups around that time did. They were large, heavy and pricey. Unfortunately Vox only makes small amps these days.
The Monkees are the best!!
LOVE THE MONKEES❤
I love the Monkees and I always will!!!❤️🥰
WOW
Nice to see them without that faded red look
For the longest time I thought they sang "Here we come/Walk down the street/We sing the funniest love song/To everyone we meet". It's still kind of what I think of it as, lol.
Would love this but at £235-240 it is too much. I managed to get the whole lot on 2 box sets for £32.50 only slightly more than just the cost of posting it from the U.S. It looks great having been restored but not for an extra £200.
0:42 HD also brings out the flaws like Peter's bad teeth.
And to think that Bert & Bob rejected Stephen Stills because he had bad teeth. And a receding hairline. Stephen recommended Peter since he looked a lot like him.
Why is this being released AFTER Xmas??? BTW can't help kissing the screen when Mike is on. Wheeee! :)
I never saw this intro in the 1970's during syndication
This opening was cut from all but two episodes from season one. I'm sure that the thinking was to use the second season opening to make it as then-current as possible.
@@jasonbeard4713 I noticed Davy Jones hair was short intro 2 but long in season
1 not knowing season 1 was actually season 2 intro
@@wb3381 I prefer the first season intro.
I love Peter’s part he’s so sexy!
