I understand nothing about hypnosis but I'm such a fan of your work here Mark. you are one of the few committed to be relevant for patients and to evaluate their treatment objectively. Such a rare gem (unfortunately). Impactful.
Imagine... this should be the baseline. Instead... a field polluted by useless fake knowledge, big egos and feedback-free entitlement.. too many wannabe professionals without professionality. And uni curricula don't help.... Imagine that Freud is still taken seriously...which is unbelievable.
Thanks for this, I'm a Clinical Solution Focused Hypnotherapist & Psychotherapist and much of my training involved studying the work of Milton Erickson.
Thanks again Mark for another informative video. I have been meaning to learn more about Erickson's work and I feel many similarities with his work. I'm always moved by those who are prepared to go that extra mile to explore, discover and share their ideas like Erickson did, even against opposition. I have just ordered two of his books and felt it disrespectful not to have them on my shelf with Carl Rogers, Freud and Berne. I'm very grateful for your sharing on this channel. Have a great day :-)
Salute and love from India!! You have done a remarkable work to tell about a legend of hypnosis!! Thank you so much!! Looking forward for more videos like this!!
Records are meant to be broken, achievements are meant to be surpassed. If Erickson were still alive he would still be improving his methods and adding to his tool box.
One must know the current paradigm of which they hope to improve upon. Familiarity to conventions and trailblazing new frontiers in purposeful ways go hand in hand despite their perceived juxtaposition.
I am a student of Dr. Sidney Rosen and I have spent thousand of hours training with him to master Erickson work. Your way to simplify a genius shows how incompetent you are !!
I certainly will not deny Ericksons' talents and capabilities BUT on his own self he was obviously HELPLESS! He was not able to persuade his subcounscious to heal him! And that is sooooo very important - to get along with the own self, because that is the quality of life we live!
I sounds like you might not be very familiar with Erickson? He actually was amazingly effective in working with himself. He recovered from polio when his Doctor told the parents he would die before morning. Then he was paralyzed, but through his inner work, self hypnosis, and etc., he regained the ability to walk. He lived a long life. And a lot of his methods that he used to help others, he learned through trying things out on himself.
It seems to me that Erickson’s primary benefit in psychotherapeutic works stems from his unfettered model of thought and existential mental structures configured within people. The worst thing someone can do to another troubled by their mental state is to present a static, homogeneous model of brains/psyches, then convince them their troubles are hopelessly Inherent to them via biology or circumstance. Assuming future generations progress instead of regress, they’ll likely find our generations as absurd as we find the Roman’s fondness of fashioning kitchenware our of harmful lead.
I'm so impressed by how clear, articulate and enlightening all of Mark's presentations are.
Wonderful presentation, Mark Terrell. I'm seeing it 2.5yrs after the fact but I'm thrilled that it is available to be seen here in UA-cam.
