I have this memory of the earlier Type S marketing from Acura stating the car would be "over 400 horsepower", but if that was true, I can't find evidence of it now (it may have been youtuber speculation). But I'm still disappointed the car doesn't already come with 400hp. I was genuinely hoping for something that would compare well to a Lexus RC F (or GS F) with its 477hp (comparing well doesn't mean beating it, just in the ballpark). Instead, it seems Acura had their sights set firmly on a lower target.
It's a very good looking car, and will likely sell pretty well for Acura. I'd love to see a jazzed up version too, with both an HP and a cosmetic upgrade of some sort (spoiler and diffuser, that kind of thing). They could make something that appeals to wealthier buyers who like the car and would like it to look more sporty (as opposed to classy). Shrug.
Disclaimer: I own an Acura, but it has significantly more horsepower than this.

The 3.0 liter Type S Turbo V6 engine is a double overhead camshaft engine which be exclusively marketed under the Acura brand. This is a big change because of the Acura V6 engines were of the J-series single overhead camshaft V6 engines which have been used since the mid 1990's. This is a production-based 3.0 Liter V6 turbocharged engine and it should be interesting to see if Honda Performance Development can use this engine in the 24 hours of Le Mans and World Endurance Championship as the Honda HR28TT twin turbocharged V6 and Honda HR35TT twin turbocharged V6. I love my 2023 type-S. My only complaints are that when you turn off start/stop or traction control, it doesn’t remember your choice the next time you start the car. We’re not children.
And the weird application of braking at low speed sharp turns… I don’t need SH-AWS active rear braking when I turn into my neighborhood at 15 mph, thank you Acura.
( also the weird throttle response for anything that isn’t sport mode… I would rather it just be linear lower power not the random delay it does. I’m sure they did this for safety for people who can’t sit still at a red light. )
And of course the free lifetime subscription to puddle lights ( if you’re a TLX owner, you know )

    Dear Honda,
Congratulations. You have finally come back with a car that can compete with the market. Mostly all I wanted Honda to be. That being said, let me tell you one thing. You are one company that I would 100% trust when it comes to engine that can rev to 8000-9000rpm. You have accumulated such knowledge over the years and that is what made Honda stand out. I know there is a reason why turbo is instead being used over letting engine to run faster. However, I would someday want to see those engines coming back.
