Thanks for your brilliant review. I was a bit disappointed with the f3.5 of that recent sigma 24mm as i fell in love with the quality of their newest 85mm 1.4. Glad they decided to got for F2 - your review is the best i've seen so far - and i've binged all i found - comparing its bokeh to the 2.8 G from sony was exactly what i was looking for! As you said: it strikes the perfect balance!
A great video. Easy to follow and understand. Thanks!
thanks very well constructed review.
I’m looking at a variety of 24mm primes and the Sigma I series look rreaaaally attractive, but somehow the narrower aperture just doesn’t make for the same "WOW" factor as the 1.4 GM... which is just so darn expensive. Worth the money I guess, but expensive. And bigger. Thanks for the sample footage and comparisons!
For travel photos, is this 24/2 better than the Sony 20/1.8?
good review.... pre-ordered immediately... already have the Sigma 35 f/2 and Sigma 100 macro
Thanks for this review! I'm a photo and video shooter and I have invested in the 35 and 65/f2's for my Panasonic S1. I couldn't wait any longer for Panasonic's 35/1.8 and the 65 split the difference of the 50mm and 85mm for me in a wonderful way. I'm looking at the 24/2 to add and primarily manual focus for video, which is my main source of income. And now the Panasonic 24/1.8 is available with less breathing and, while not de-clicked aperture, a "micro adjustable" aperture (or something...) Pathways, pathways. Curious to hear your thoughts on how to approach.
what do you think about comparison with batis 25mm?
What a cracking lens. Great bokeh and some good sample images Gordon. I wonder if you have tried Loxia 25 and how it compares. Manual focus and different aperture of course.
I have, but not formally tested it.
Thanks for your videos, I cannot decide between this and the Viltrox, actually between the 35mm Sigma and Viltrox.. Any opinion , mainly for video?
Very promising to see the I series expanding even with overlaps. The petite versions suit APS-C nicely. The small 24mm, earlier 56mm, and 90mm share the same filter; while this one and the 65mm match well, also share filters, and are still compact on the full frames.
I'm definitely going for the 90mm, but this one is growing on me.
Thanks again Gordon :)
You're welcome! It's a nice series, isn't it?
@@cameralabs It is :) Just got the 65mm
@@fellowcitizen nice! I bet you end up getting more!
Great video! Thank you! How does it compare with the new Samyang 24 F1.8?
Thanks, but sorry I can't talk about the Samyang as they don't send them to test. That 18mm belonged to a friend.
Samyang 24 1.8 is outperforms Sigma in focus breathing control, close-up, coma, sun star, size, price.
If only they would provide them for review...
@@cameralabs It's good that they are underrated so the price can be kept low.
How do you know this? No head to head reviews have been done yet
@@davidlai6798 Christopher Frost's channel did controlled reviews for many lenses.
An effort at self consolation or did you perform a comprehensive side by side comparison?
Thank you for sharing! Hello from Switzerland
You're welcome! I look forward to visiting your beautiful country again!
@@cameralabs Give me a yell, if you need some infos. We just spent two weeks in the Valais mountains to shoot some videos... 🤠👍.
@@TheLensSchwendi will do, thanks!
Thanks for the video review! Can this lens be paired with Sony A6400 without compromise in image quality?
I've not tried it on the 6400, but it should work fine, albeit with a 1.5x crop, so 36mm equivalent.
hi gordon, great work!, regarding distortion, and in video, can it be autocorrected on the a7siii in camera? or does it have to be in post?
If you set distortion to Auto in lens comp, it should correct it.
Hello. As the owner of this glass from the owner, I want to ask. The preset on the aperture, the so-called declic, bothers me. When the petals are always open and close only when the shutter is pressed, to the set value. Is it possible to shoot without this function?
That's a function of the camera you're using

When is this coming out? I am looking for it right now.
Hopefully soon, but you can check the B&H or WEX links in my description.
24/2, 35/2, 90/2.8, the street & travellers Holy trinity, have been looking for a reason to buy a LUMIX S 5. And here they are…….perfect
Yeah, I'd be very happy with those three...
24/2 and 65/2 paired to A7C seems perfect to me
You could probably squeeze those three, an A7Cr, AND either the 65mm f/2, or the 50mm f/2 into a Peak Design 6L bag.
How do you think it stands up to samyang 24m f1.8?
Samyang doesn't send their lenses for review so I can't say
Excellent
you forgot Samyang.. their 24mm F1.8 is awesome
They don't send them for review
@@cameralabs they send them to me & ive got 140 subs.. you should message them I promise you they would send you a few lenses to review & you will not disappointed
They should have done the hood with out ribs. It must be a pain to clean.
This is good but the Samyang 24mm f1.8 is just too good at its price piont.
I agree. Sigma should have released this instead of f/3.5 or f/1.4 instead.
