My last job spent 3yrs trying to get me to quit. I use to be a truck driver in the texas panhandle oilfield. Started in 2015. Things were going great until 2017.I contracted lyme disease and a couple months later, I found out that lyme disease can trigger rheumatoid arthritis. Then in 2018, I was in a work related motor vehicle accident. Getting rear-ended by someone going 75mph sucks. Back is permanently fucked up from it. By the end of 2018, the rheumatoid was in my spine. After I was released to go back to work, the boss thought that it was a good idea to put me in a truck, with equipment I've never used and where I had to drag around multiple 100lb hoses. It hurt like hell, but I managed. I was finally laid off in 2020 while I was recovering from surgery. After that, I know they lost work. Who would have thought that an ex employee spilling the beans about what I had to deal with was a good idea. The hell with that place
Depending on the circumstances, sometimes "resigning under duress" can also let you collect unemployment, I believe. But you'd need an employment lawyer to fight it, probably.
I had a coworker that had been harassing and bullying me for some time. I finally lodged an official complaint (first and only time I had done that at any job). During the meeting my boss had with her to discuss my complaint against her, he went from telling her he should be firing her to asking her to become a supervisor.
I worked at a rural hospital during covid. I got covid and they eliminated my position while i was on mandated quarantine. "Lack of work" meaning they could no longer afford my position as the work wasn't there. They tried to deny my unemployment too

Your company sees you as nothing more than a tool to be used to make money, always be sure to treat them likewise. Show no loyalty beyond what they can pay for, use all of your sick days, take all of your breaks, never do any more work than what you are assigned and is part of your job description, always be looking for a better offer. Remember, they will not hesitate for a second to get rid of you as soon as they're done using you, stay prepared to respond to do the same.

But the fact that she pulled the same stunt 3 times, then tried to claim that it was the other employees' workbooks, I'd be like "You'll notice I'm gone in 2 weeks". 2 weeks' notice is a courtesy to *good* employers. It's by no means mandatory. They do not give you 2 weeks' notice if they fire you.
Biggest misconception. 2 weeks is not a requirement it's a courtesy from you to them to find your replacement while you work there. If they abuse or mistreat you or just generally horrible you can just quit and let them fend for themselves. You do not have to give notice.
Okay but is there more to the story bc I can understand if they’re talking about doing it during the job. It politics should be left outside the workplace unless you work in politics imo. Biden or Trump. Both are just rich old folks that cosplay like they care about poor young people. They shouldn’t have even known who you support.
