A Surprise for Jessica!/Milking Cows on our Small Dairy/Bentleyville Tour of Lights 2023

- Jessica is getting a special surprise. It all started when we received a letter from Blue Earth, MN. A viewer, a dairy farmer, had recently sold his cows. However, he held back a Holstein Heifer from one of his best cows and he wanted to give it to our daughter, Jessica. We decided we wouldn't tell Jessica about the letter and have it be a complete surprise. We hit the road and met Tom at the Mcleod County Fairgrounds in Hutchinson. Jessica was shocked when she met her new heifer, Demi! We had a great visit with Tom, but the weather was getting icky, so we said our goodbyes and hit the road again. Demi made it home safe, and just in time for chores. We end the video with sharing our trip to Duluth to the Bentleyville Tour of Lights.

Trinity Dairy was established in 2006, in Minnesota. Alan and Jennifer farm with their 5 children; Jessica, Justin, Jordan, Joshua, and Jason. We milk a mix of 33 Jersey, Holstein, Brown Swiss, Guernsey, and Ayrshire cattle. We also enjoy sharing our family's love of Draft Horses and using them for logging and other farm work. Dairy Farming in Minnesota can be challenging, but it's a lifestyle we really enjoy. Subscribe today to watch our small family dairy farm and family grow while continuing to thank our Lord for the blessings we've been given.
Imagine an America that all kids were raised the way Allen and Jen are raising them. This video brought a tear to my eye
Amen. Would be a much better place. Thank you Lord Jesus for just wonderful examples of parenting.
God bless you all its great that there are people who still realize what a family farm is all about
I do believe you guys have the most pampered and happy cows in America.
Tom, you gave an amazing gift to an awesome family. Thank you
I love the way y’all are raising these kids, they will grow up to be outstanding citizens. 👍👏🙏🐄
what an amazing gift. It's good to see in this time that people still care about others. Now Jessica we will be expecting updates on Demi.
That was real nice of you Tom, Jessica sure looked happy.
Wonderful how that cow turned her head back when you were brushing her to show her appreciation and also wanting her head scratched...such kind animal interaction reminds me of how much the animals loved the farmer in the movie "Charlottes Web".
Great gift. Nice to see the kids involved in the farming with you. You are all hard workers. Keep up the great work. God bless

When I was a kid an American arrived to our house one day and wanted to give my father quite a large sum of money. Obviously we asked him who he was and why did he want to give us money, turned out that his mother had died the previous year and made him promise to find our family and give us the price of a cow, the story goes that when she was a child her job was to put the cow in the field after milking in the morning on her way to school, which she did, one day she was in a hurry because she was late and didn’t close the gap properly the cow got out and was hit by a lorry and killed. I suppose it is hard for people nowadays to imagine but that family only had one cow and a lot of children the cow ment the difference between malnutrition and well feed . That evening she helped her father dig a grave for the cow, because back then it was the only way to get rid off the animal, it took many hours to dig the grave and her father never spoke to her once, when they got the job done and got home her mother was crying by the fire, she was only ten years old and had to bare all this. The following day was a Saturday and that day my great grandfather came to their home leading a cow he handed this little girl the rope and said she had better milk her because she hadn’t been milked yet that morning, she was that shocked she just silently brought the cow to the byre and milked her when she had the cow milked my great grandfather was gone. She asked her mother how much the cow had cost and her mother said nothing she was a gift from a very decent man. She knew who the man was but she had never spoken to him and felt really guilty that she had not even thanked him for the cow. My great grandfather died a few weeks later from a massive heart attack which we knew about but this girl had never gotten the opportunity to thank him. At fifteen she emigrated to America married there and raised a family, her husband and she were successful but she never came back to Ireland for a visit even, when she was dying she made her eldest son promise to visit Ireland and find our family and give us the price of a cow. We knew absolutely nothing of this story till this guy arrived out of the blue and tells us all about it, my dad rang his aunt and asked her if she knew anything about it and she said she remembered something about it at the time because she was only seven when her dad died but she remembered that he was very upset at finding a little girl crying alongside the body of a dead cow on his way home from wherever he was because he was late home and he had dinner with her as she had her dinner when she got home from school, this was very unusual that she had her dad to herself at the table because she was the youngest of seven by a bit of a margin ( 5 or 6 years I think but I can’t remember off hand) . My great grandfather at that time would have had 10 or 12 cows and most of his children reared and working ( at that time you started to work at 13 or 14 ) so he was as we say snug enough for the time. My grandfather took over the farm after his father died, he was about 20 . My grandfather died young and my father took over, so when this American arrived we a couple of generations removed from the story. My dad made the yank gift the money to a local widow who was finding it hard and too proud to ask for help and we have kept in touch with his family ever since, the story sprang to mind because of the gift of the heifer and a Christmas card from the USA which arrived today. I am now years older than my father, grandfather or great grandfather ever got to be and have grand children older than your children , I have visited America many times and have become a great friend of the son of our American visitor who has visited us here many times, he is in his nineties and not really fit for the journey anymore so I plan to pop over to visit next year all being well. I hope that the heifer is lucky and that you can get your dad to spring for a sexed semen straw or two when the time comes so that you can grow your herd a bit more rapidly, kid.
Thank you for sharing that!
Hello Allen awesome gift great looking heifer. Hope she does well 4h club. Light are cool to see this time of year. Have a great day.

That's a really special gift. May she live a long and productive life and may dhe always be in good health..... Those electric pulsators.... I'm not used to those.
These are vacuum pulsators.
@@trinitydairy huh, they sound so different than mine. Then mine are over 50 years old on our Surge buckets.
Yeah, those Surge Pulsators have thier own sound. And those are DeLavel, and they always sounded strange to me (Surge was what I had, electric except for our portable Show unit)!
Nice gift that great gentleman gave you. One thing when you are very young the memories stick with you all your life. I enjoyed being brought up and a farm.
Best life for a young kid growing up hope that you enjoy Your gift Jessica and I know that you will.
So glad for Jessica, that looks like a lovely calf/cow. Your all have such great looking cattle and love how well cared for they are. Contented cows giving contented milk. Wasn't there a commercial about that at one time. Also loved all of the lights at Bentleyville, what fun. Especially loved the blue hallway of lights.
My car does pretty well on snow, but it isn't a four wheel drive. The snow conditions and temperature that you had could be a real problem for some people. I once drove home from work and found we had black ice. You couldn't tell there was a problem until you tried to stop or take off. Took an hour to get home because I got tired of having to push the clutch in every 5 feet as the traffic stopped and started, so I pulled into a parking lot and waited for the salt trucks to go through. Glad you vehicle does well on snow, but living where you are would make that a necessity.
Hope every has a very Merry and Blessed Christmas and that the new year is a good one for all.
Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! God Bless!
Very nice job and God bless y'all and the family

Love the milking videos. Keep them coming...
I hear the variable speed vaccum pump in the background. How do you guys like it??? Secondly congrats on the heifer. I remember when I got my first 3 registered holsteins. She may not know yet but down the road that heifer will make her memories she will never forget.
We really like the variable speed pump. Yes, that's so true, I hope our kids always remember who helped give them their start.

Merrt Christmas to all and God Bless Us, Everone
Way to go Jessica! Enjoy your new girl.
What is the rake looking device that hangs in each stall?
Those are trainers. They help teach the cow to step back to poop or pee instead of hunching up and going to the bathroom under themselves.
@@trinitydairy I am now smarter because of you. Thank you.
I want a cow for Christmas!
❤ 🐄
👍👌❤️🇨🇦
You guys have snow
We did. Most of it melted today.
Beautiful Brown Swiss you got there 😍
How many cow are you milking at the moment?
That was some gift for your daughter, she must have been surprised to say the least. Lots I don't understand about dairying...so I'm going to ask a few questions now and then, I'll start by asking what the average amount of product a cow produces each day? I have many questions but I will spread them out so you don't get overwhelmed schooling me😊
She was in total disbelief! Each cow is different, but I think the average is 8 gallons of milk a day.
@@trinitydairy Thanks for the reply.
Was the weather at Bentley Bentleyville better than last time
Yeah, much better!
Are you all being able to survive the ups and downs of the dairy industry these days it’s been really difficult out west for us small farms
I started driving school bus, for some extra income, so we're doing okay.
Yes we have had to work off the farm part time as well to supplement our income well many blessings to you and your family Allen as we prepare for the season to celebrate our christs birth enjoy your channel and your family
When r the lights going on the roof line of the barn?
Oh, Jen has already said we need some up there. I told her I'd rent the lift, but she had to do it.
