Finishing Corn Chopping 2023!/New Cattle Chute/Preparing for MN Youth Hunt

  • 2023 was certainly challenging on our corn crop, but as we are finally finishing up, we are blessed to see that having the extra field of corn that was intended for picking, was wonderful to have for chopping. The International 1256 and 790 New Holland Chopper have been humming along all season and we finally see the last rows of corn being chopped up and put in the silo by the barn with the help of the Gehl Silo Blower and Case 830 tractor. Meanwhile, Jennifer and the kids have been preparing for the MN Youth Hunt. Hoping for a couple of deer to walk by the blinds they put up.
In the middle of all this, Alan also purchased a new to us cattle chute on transport. Our current chute isn't exactly what we want, and are excited to try this new chute for vaccinating cattle.

This time of the fall, nothing dries too much after any rain. Daylight hours and temperatures too low for much of that.
That view of the river/creek was great!

It's a For-most chute. The tabs on the side are for a bar to be slid behind like you said. It's called a ratcheting rump bar, those tabs let the bar slide forward but not backwards once the bar is slid under and in front of the tab

at 8:44 those notches are for a cant kick pipe, this chute is almost identical to my formost (except for the head catch) stick a pipe behind the cattle so they wont kick when working with the business end of them, it doesn't fit snug so just put the pipe in the closest notch.
