Al sounds like the 1960’s but the reason this sounds so good is his son Matt singing backup vocals !! He’s freaking awesome !! Great voice Matt everything you have sang on is perfect !!
Just saw Al perform last night, and he sounds even better in person. He closed the show with this song, and it made me so happy. His son Matt kills it as a falsetto. Great voice!!!
I am so happy to see the great Al Jardine still singing this with the same gusto and enthusiasm that he did 54 yrs ago. The man is a legend in my eyes along with the Wilson brothers and Mike. There music has brought me such joy throughout my 53 yrs of life. 🙂
You lost me at "Mike". LOL, Seriously though Al is a legend and sounds so good for his age. Loved the Wilson brothers, especially Carl and Al. As for Mike Love, I can't stand the sight of that blowhard.
Divya, don't pull your punches! If I saw Mike HATE stranded on the road, it would be VERY DIFFICULT for me to not hit the gas! Alan, you've done good! Matt IS the voice of The Beach Boys, in the next generation. And, I hope they DO last that long, Alan, I did NOT mean to diminish your skills. Mikey HATE doesn't hold a candle to your STELLAR voice! steve
paul adamson Not only in your eyes my friend. He is a living legend and as down to earth as can be. He just like your next door neighbor. And I mean that as in the “good next door neighbor” that you might have had.
Divya Dijay Probably everyone is or was a Mike Love hater at some point but Mike has mellowed and he’s grown like many of us have. He was also in a tough position, being the frontman for someone else’s band and without Mike I don’t think there would still be a Beach Boys touring group today. He helped write many of their songs and that’s finally coming out. And there was quite some time where Brian wasn’t involved with the band and never played with them again until the 50 Anniversary Tour where it immediately became Brian’s band once again. Mike has lived his whole life in Brian’s shadow. Now that I am no longer a ML hater I get to watch both acts perform. I will say this, a Brian Wilson concert is always better than a Beach Boys concert. The reason is that Brian continues to write new significant music whereas The Beach Boys don’t. Last year I went to a party and it was kept on the down low so I had no idea when I arrived that The Beach Boys were going to be the entertainment that evening. It was the best Beach Boys show I’ve ever seen being very casual without the normal screaming and chaos you get at their normal concert settings. They were in the middle of a song as I walked past the stage and at that moment there was no vocals and Mike points at me and say give your camera to someone and let’s take a picture. And now while he is singing once again he poses for a picture with me. It’s one of my favorite rock n roll pictures now because it was just spontaneous and it came out great. I forgave Mike for his indiscretions around ten years ago and I’m glad those feelings have long gone. After all we’re all just trying to get through this thing called life together and sometimes it’s not an easy road to travel. Love and mercy to you and your friends tonight.
I think Al is one of my fave Beach Boys! He lacks ego and has a genuine presence not that I know him or anything, he just seems like a cool down to earth guy. I really hope I get to see him one day in concert- that would be amazing!! 😁
@@mikeockerts17 Matt's singing some high falsetto notes yeah but Al's belting some pretty difficult notes in chest voice with a good deal of power for his age which I find much more impressive.
I love this, Al. You and Matt sticking beside Brian is very inspiring and heartwarming. In my opinion, this group represents The Beach Boys’ music so much better than Mike’s group.
Al is my favorite Beach Boy. He didn't have any beef with any of the other members, stood by Brian when he was at his worst, and wrote/sang some great songs too. Just a great guy all around.
That's what not doing drugs, smoking and drinking like a fish will do for you. Al has taken care of himself and it shows. Listen to him compared to Brian now, it's not even close. That's why Al now sings lead on most live songs. Brian would embarrass himself.
I had the pleasure of seeing him in concert in NC. I have sensitive hearing so I never go to music concerts but there is not a single regret at getting to see one of The Beach Boys live, and sounding just like he did half a century ago no less.
I met Al 5 years ago. Ran into him in a hotel lobby in Toronto. He stopped and chatted for a minute. What a gracious and down to earth man. A lovely encounter I'll never forget.
I just discovered this! Love to hear Al sing! This is great, he sounds amazing still. Enjoying Matt's singing now also. I love that the Beach Boys are continuing on. Yes I said Beach Boys... Al, Brian, now Matt and some of the old back up to me are the true Beach Boys. I saw some videos from 2018 and 2019 and subscribed! Sorry... I'm just really happy! I hope to see them soon!
Jardine still has it! If I had it to do over again, I would focus on writing fun, feel good songs that make millions happy. Instead, I did good songs and nearly made it, but we're talking English Sonnets, Haiku's, etc., put to music - coffee house stuff (slightly intriguing but not happy, happy, happy). Musically, I bow to the Beach Boys.
This and 'Then I kissed her' are my favorite AL Jardine songs (best singer of the group) Wish he had more on Sloop John B my all-time favorite song. Thanks for being awesome Al! And come to Japan again with Brian! ;)
Brian and Carl were amazing, it’s hard to say Al was the best in the group. Even though he’s an excellent singer. Listen to disc three from the pet sounds sessions.
Al sounds like the 1960’s but the reason this sounds so good is his son Matt singing backup vocals !! He’s freaking awesome !! Great voice Matt everything you have sang on is perfect !!
Al Jardine...The Beach Boys not so secret secret weapon. Thank you Al ❤
Brian made a good choice in 1965 having Al Jardine sing lead on this song.
Al just gets better with age. He's the only Beach Boy that's kept his voice.
Mike did, too
Yeah as much as I can't stand Mike, he can still sing fine. As has Bruce Johnston.
He definitely sounds good for his age.
far cooler than the guys today
Mike and Bruce both still sound amazing
Thank you Al Jardine. This brought tears to this 64 year old man. The sound of your voice will always be in my mind.
Wow! dude still can sing! awesome!
Matt Jardine... Apples, Trees, and all of that!

Wow I'm shocked of how good this is. Go AL man! Hitting those high notes
Umm the only high notes that were sang was by the younger guy on the right, makes the whole performance
@@mikeockerts17 Matt's singing some high falsetto notes yeah but Al's belting some pretty difficult notes in chest voice with a good deal of power for his age which I find much more impressive.
That's his son on the high notes.
He sounds the same! What a treasure.
Agreed! And He looks great too! 😍
Wow Al sounds great still 😯
Al Jardine is a national treasure.

Jardine's voice aged best of all the Boys.
still a golden voice
tom tom that old man is the same who sing that song in original versions?
Yes.
Al Jardine has still got it!! Long may it be so!!
Al has always been my personal favourite BB. This live performance just solidified that
Al's still got it.
Agree! 100% He does! 😍
Mr. Al Jardine is a great world-class artist. for many years he has lost none of his musicality, art, temperament. thanks.
This sounds so so good for a live performance more than 55 years later. They nailed the sound and the vocals are on point.
Best concert song ever!
I was 14 when they performed this! Al really knew how to please a crowd and look there’s Matt!
Fantastic !!! Jeez.....Al Jardine, You sound Freaking Incredible !!!
I had the pleasure to shake al’s hand in 2017 after a pet sounds tour concert in Sheffield UK, an experience I will never forget
That moment when you can't help but sing Mike's parts
"A-pow pow pow pow"
Amazing how this legend can still belt it out at 75 years old. His voice never gets old and he sounds great!
I know right!! 😍
Gives me the chills ! With tears in my eyes 😎 love it
Rare times when you can actually hear Al's guitar! I would've loved so much playing this song with you live!
Love you Al Jardine you got an awesome smile on you're face
this man truly took care of his vocal skills....for the most part its as if its 1965.....great work ,al
Jardine still got it...I love his voice
Unbelievable. His son obviously inherited his dad's musical chops.
Al is my favorite Beach Boy. He didn't have any beef with any of the other members, stood by Brian when he was at his worst, and wrote/sang some great songs too. Just a great guy all around.
You never lost your voice, thank you for all the great music and memories
Beautiful feeling father and son and great musicians. I saw them at Umbria Jazz 2017 amazing experience, Beach Boys are legend
is true
Er... how? How does he sound this good after so long? Every single recording that I find, he's right on point.
Al still sings great!
Wow sounds very similar to the original
LOVE! Such solid vocals from Al and Matt.
Always enjoyed "Hep Me Rhonda". Sure takes me back in time!
UPDATE- I AM GOING TO SEE AL WITH BRIAN at their Christmas show!! I CAN'T WAIT!! 🎄🎁🎵😁
Excellent one of Al and Matt!
How can that not make you smile. Love you Alan.
With so many legends of the industry that have lost their voice due to time or time caught them. He still sounds great!
I love his stories accompanying this great music. And backed by son Matt, and Jeff Alan Ross, is just the best.
Stiil loving Al Jardine
thanks Al for all the tunes!
Al Jardin. Strat faithful from start to finish ....
Omg time machine. Al sounds fantastic. The Beach boys always put a smile on me.
Al Jardine is all that and a bucket of grits...😃😃😃🥰🥰🥰
Thank you Mr. Jardine. Not attempting a social media rant- Just thank you for your continued dedication!
Still rockin! See you on the Endless Summer Tour!
God bless you Al.
This is magic.

AL IS A TITAN!!!
This is sooo cool. I love it. Thanks

I could watch these all day long. tx Al
Love this classic song sung by Al Jardine!
How can you still sound so great?
The energy is now greater !!!! bravo AL !!!
Just saw them in NYC. Terrifically entertaining! He's still got it.
You sound amazing, Al!
ALmost 80 years old and this guy sings att the same tome he did 50 years ago. Love from Chile fot Mr. Al
Still singing the song in it's original key.
Not many 75yr old singers can do that.
Al's voice has hardly changed since the 70's.
That's what not doing drugs, smoking and drinking like a fish will do for you. Al has taken care of himself and it shows. Listen to him compared to Brian now, it's not even close. That's why Al now sings lead on most live songs. Brian would embarrass himself.
He's a freak of nature
@@divyadijay2709 to be fair Brian did had a psychotic breakdown and an abusive doctor during his most sensitive years so gotta give him some slack

I appreciate the stories behind the songs. Great voice!
Love this song!
he sounds almost the same as 50 years ago!
This is great. Appreciate Al, Brian, Bruce and Mike now while you can. In ten years you will just want to go see them again.
Can't we make a deal with the devil where we can trade the other 3 so Al can live forever?!
I can live without Mike
I listen to it daily, fantastic! From the Netherlands, Willem.
Matt's voice is a combination of a young Al Jardine and a young Brian Wilson.
I reckon it's a combination of Brian and Carl
Matt is fabulous!

These songs are timeless - great performance!
Love it 😍
Al you are so great, love your music.
Sounds better than live recordings from back in the day! Such a great song and love you are still performing!

I love the "fade in, fade out" version of this one best....
What a good sounding mini version! Very well done!
J adore super al jardine bravo longue vie vous êtes toujours aussi souriant et mignon
Unbelievable, he sounds the same he did back in '65. As we age our voice gets raspy, his not.
Al does a great show on his own with Matt and band.
