I went to Canada in the winter and I didn't have boots so I went to the Walmart in Canada to get some. I bought a cheap pair. I noticed that all Canadian boots advertised that they had to be made to certain specifications. Those cheap boots were the warmest ,most durable and longest lasting boots I've ever worn and I wore them as my construction boots for years. I love Canada's high quality standards.
7:30 I don't know if you notice but fur on hood keeps your eyes free from falling snow. It stops a lot of flakes so you don't need to squint your eyes.
A friend of mine worked in Antartica for a year, the company gave him one of these jackets. It must have been a super duper one, he said it was thousands of dollars. It got down to -80 and he said he was warm. When he left they took the jacket and pants back! lol We live in Florida so he didn't need it anyhow. Yep.
A lady walked up to me today at Costco and asked me for money to help her feed her kids. She was wearing a Canada Goose long coat. I let her know that I had no cash on me currently but did let her know that if she were to put her coat on eBay she should be able to feed her kids for a couple of months. The language she used to tell me her thoughts on that suggestion was somewhat offensive.
Heyo! Here are a few facts I didn’t fully clarify or left out by accident: 1. 650 fill dries faster than 800 fill but I don’t have an accurate exact percentage as to how much faster. Often times on down coveralls the bottoms are lower fill down (or synthetic) to aid in their drying faster as your legs will be in snow! Arcteryx does this with down composite mapping where they pick and choose where down and synthetic will go in the jacket based off wet conditions. 650 vs. 800 may not yield insane results. 2. The CG has very little water resistance! It’s DWR sprayed but there are no sealed seams or goretex. I’m not sure as to why but figure it’s because CG’s were originally for dry climates? Of course that contradicts the purpose of the lower down fill and is a big thing missing from a $1,300 jacket. 3. Please do your research on CG’s environmental impact and ethics! It’s a very hot topic with wildly different opinions so be sure to do some looking. If you want the complete opposite of CG then Patagonia is probably your best bet (maybe feathered friends too). 5. I just want to reiterate that I’m saying a CG is essentially worth it if it’s worth it to you. From a utilitarian stand point it’s not but if Made in Canada or fur trims or brand name is important to you then CG is the jacket to get. It basically always can be beat for a lower price point in all areas. I have a certain winter jacket on its way to me now (this is borrowed) so I’ll fill you in soon. Hope this helps! I’m not trying to shill CG just figured it’d be a fun review because they have a very significant history.
2. It’s made for COLD weather which is a dry climate as the snow doesn’t melt below -10 degree Celsius. A goretex down jacket wouldn’t be as breathable and could especially decrease insulaton of the down when wet from sweat.
#3 tho 😂😂 I've heard somestuff about the coyote fur... But as a Canadian I love Canada goose!! Own the expedition in a few colours, got the first in hs it has some cool fading going on It doesn't really rain that much up here (only snow) and I don't think it's that wet at the north pole either? That's what these are used for Mine work great all winter here
Idk how you can make point #5 about cg (which is sorta true here) only sorta But you can't point it out (or even seem it identify it) with other Canadian brands?! When it's definitely 110% true from them?
A winter jacket doesn’t get wet from the outside, but there is a high risk of the down getting wet from sweating. The reason is that people wear excessively warm clothing when they’re active outside. Down filling is not good for sports but it’s excellent for more passive activities, if that makes sense. A water tight shell will only worsen the moist problem by keeping sweat in.
I have a Canada Goose expedition pbi and a HellyHanssen down parka . The Helly Hanssen was a fraction of the price and is like wearing a sauna compared to the Canada Goose . TheCanadaGoose is still a very good coat but not the warmest. I wear both for work (welder-pipefitter) or on the farm ,cleaning and feeding my goats, so the 2k Canada Goose gets real dirty , I love how snobs look at me in digust and complete shock when they see the coat worn what it was made for instead of parading on a fancy boulevard. ❤
@ It gets dirty, real dirty. But like I said it's a lot colder than the Helly Hanssen. And there is some wear but that's ok. The trick is to be carefull cause it's a fragile jacket. Beware of hot surfaces or sharp edges...Also the HH can be washed and tumble dried, the Canada Goose needs dry cleaning and it's not easy to find a good dry cleaner that wont destroy the coat. The Canada goose is a good coat but there are plenty of good parkas for way less money.
I have a Canada Goose Heli-Arctic Parka I bought nearly 20 years ago for $480. It was designed for helicopter pilots in arctic regions. It’s been my yearly winter coat for Canadian winters. It will last me until the day I die. It’s like being swaddled in a down duvet. It’s brilliant.
Absolutely love my Canada Goose Expedition parka is worth it. I live in Minnesota and it gets really cold. This parka keeps me warm where others leave me cold.
Eddie Bauer use to use the whole Down Goose Feather in their 700 Superior Polar Parka. You could literally fill the ends poking you. I use to buy and sell a lot of them back in 89’-2005. Those Parkas were toasty because they didn’t break the feathers apart. You’d literally get 700 feathers per baffle!
People are going to be mad at me for doing this, but there’s a ton on eBay that are considered “vintage” and I’ve found really cool ones. But tbh, imma stick with my Crescent Down Works sweater. Best 700 bucks I’ve ever spent 😂
I have a Canada Goose x Loro Piana parka that is water resistant wool. It doesn't have a logo on the outside and looks really classy. It's my all time favorite coat.
If you’re wearing a goose parka….where it’s appropriate, moisture is the last thing on your mind, because it won’t be raining for months, and you’ll be wearing shorts by then. What they should do is use synthetic insulation in the armpits. It’s -22c today (without the wind). I might wear my goose today.
the lighter Canada Goose jackets are great for temps of 30-50 and so so comfortable lightweight. We use our heavier Canda goose's just for colder temps 10-30 degrees or if we plan to be out in 30-40 all day long. Love the brand.

What are your favourite Canada Goose Productmodels? Why have you decided for the Emory? And not the expedition, Wyndham, Langford, Carson or chateau? What are your thoughts on the different models?
I did lots of reading and comparing and went with the Carson. I prefer the sleek look 2 fleece lined zipper pockets over the other pocket styles. I also wanted a parka that was mid thigh length for extra warmth but not crazy long. So far I am loving it. Have worn it in -30 already with no issues.
Using lower fill power down and advertising it as being better when wet is good marketing but BS. All down clumps together when it gets wet unless it is hydrophobically treated with Nikwax for instance.
I guess you would have to ask the companies that make make clothing specific to function why they routinely use lower fill power for areas prone to high moisture why they do it. There's some truth to it, just depends on how you want to use it. In CG's case, they're just trying to justify using crappy materials while asking a premium price tag.
Funny video. I've tried on a few CG jackets, they feel built like tanks, they literally make North Face or Patagonia feel like Walmart's house brand. If a CG parka is worth 3 to 4 times more than a NF Gotham is pretty subjective. To me first world manufacturing, style, and real fur matter so I might be buying one soon. You brought up rolex, their transition from utilitarian to luxury was similar. A brand makes a good product, actors and athletes are seen wearing it, and the brand transitions to luxury level pricing. Rinse repeat, it's the way of the commerce world.
I wore my Canada Goose Chilliwack Jacket for almost 10 years until I told myself to change the jacket. So I did. I bought myself the Canada Goose Paradigm Chlliwack for a whopping 1.5k and I love it.
Hey I’m in the market for a tripod, which one do you use? The quality of your videos is getting so good it’s insane! Bravo. You should consider doing a video on the recording/ editing process for these videos.

I love my Constable Parka and am a fan of Arctic Tech as it’s wind proof. It keeps me warm and has a far greater range than my old wool-lined LL Bean Parka. I want to get the Maitland because I like the pocket flap snaps over the Velcro and want to alternate my jackets. I don’t know why they discontinued this model but am glad they repair and sell used jackets. CG is comparable to Rolex - a well-made product, misunderstood by both the chavs who hype it or the snobs who revile it.
So you said Eddie Bauer is the father of the down parka? Interesting I’m just looking for a very classic everyday winter coat. I am kicking myself for being so poor. I really wanted a Canada goose back when they were like $600 (like 2015) But then again, I have no use for it in Australia XD
Yup! A genuine parka SHOULD ALWAYS HAVE A FUR RUFF. If it doesn’t, then it’s not a parka, it’s just a long jacket with some insulation not fit for the tundra unless the wearer wants to turn their nose and cheeks into blocks of black ice. People can say whatever they want about fur ruffs and about stopping animal cruelty, but nowadays we can make them in faux fur. So whatever excuse Canada Goose is using to stop production with it doesn’t make any sense. I will never buy a jacket marketed as “parka” with no fur ruff, after owning jackets without them, I can definitely feel a night and day difference.
Ah, Canada Douche 😂 The only people I see wearing Canada Douche are celebs, hipsters and suburban soccer moms. I bought a Canadian Wolf down jacket which is just as good. Hand made in Quebec for a lot less. Warm af too
End of the day, Canada Goose is like any other luxury/fashion brand. Generally a good product, just very poor value. You're paying for the logo (in this case the patch). In CG's case, you ironically using an inferior down (the fact they use duck while calling themselves Goose is hilarious) while paying a premium price.
So true. I gave my CG bomber to my cousin as I outgrew it. It's ridiculously warm but now I rock a Eddie Bauer parka. Not as stylish but does the job for me

As if their Expedition parka is now $1600CAN, when I got mine 10 years ago was only $500
Yup. Stupid people in warm places ruined the brand
Hi, big fan of yours. Can you do a video on wool pants please.
This jacket is rad, but too hot for Texas 🫤
just get crescent down works
I am kicking myself for being so poor. I really wanted a Canada goose back when they were like $600 (like 2015)
But then again, I have no use for it in Australia XD
Yeah, if there was truth in naming they would call it Canada duck. They only have one goose down coat.
Why don't you show a men s model of this jacket ?
Nice vid
yup, it's a coat.
Let’s gooooooooooo thaks for uploading
WOO! Thanks for watching!
Yup bro ye canada goose goin bricker ye
I think i understand this comment but im also unsure if i do
@@TheIronSnail its an irish thing. all the “dilinquents” I guess you guys would call them wear them in Ireland i was using the dublin slang they use 😂
NorthFace jacket.
Congrats, you can now dress like every Torontonian in the winter LOL
So true. I gave my CG bomber to my cousin as I outgrew it. It's ridiculously warm but now I rock a Eddie Bauer parka. Not as stylish but does the job for me
Hahaha IM IN!
Only if you got a moose knuckles too
"I Feel The Need… The Need For Down 🚀
I feel the need…the need for tweed!
Hi Michael! First of all, R.I.P. 8thWeekday amirite? Second of all, why start a new channel when you ONLY have 15k subs here (look who’s talkin’)? Why not put diverse content on this channel to grow it to at least a 100k subs, and THEN create a second one?
RIP 8thWeekday!!! And i did a few little tests here and there of off topic videos and they tend not to do as well because YT looks for videos that all viewers watch and not everyone here is interested in things off topic
Figured I’d give another channel a shot!
@@TheIronSnail Can’t wait for what’s in store!
Great Parka. Stupid price. Eddie Bauer for 1/4 the price
They stopped buying fur in 2021 and now will stop manufacturing fur jakets in 2022 end. just letting everyone know.
Comment engagement!
LOVE TO SEE IT!
Buying a sweatshirt from Canada goose is like buying cargo shorts from Burberry - oh so wrong.
I have 3 Merino wool CG tops and 1 hoodie they are great and 3 jackets and 1 vest and 1 puffer jacket.
i want my 12 minutes BACK
sorry it’s all mine now
Scilabus made a video on the physics of fur hoods, you can check it out here! ua-cam.com/video/179xP-fF6wA/v-deo.html (english subs available)
interested to see what you have for us on your eponymous channel
Thanks! Also you taught me a new word
@@TheIronSnail I’m not a watch guy but was very interested in the recent Theo & Harris Patek video, especially considering Christian’s view that Patek can be a bit hit or miss.
The only watch that has every wowed me in a “if I every have absurd success” is the Patek Calatrava 51 small seconds in white gold (Patek 5196G
SMALL SECONDS).
Would be very interested in what the prevailing view is of this model - good or bad. I just love the aesthetic, but would love to know the opinions of a couple of watch industry nerds (+ve or -ve) 👍
canada goose is not going to make the fur part anymore
you can thank the crazy american animal right movement groups for this
🙁
Is it worth it? NO!
Please, please. "The Arctic" and "Antarctic" are two different things. All of your photographs were NOT of "The Arctic" - those were pictures of Antarctica... which is at the southern pole of the planet, where the penguins are.
Whoops!
Canadia goose is kind of like the Rolex of jackets. Good but also really overrated.
enough with the jackets leak the album
