I miss taylor being in the vlogs!!! glad you two got to see each other and get some more time before she went back. Have really been enjoying the videos lately and can’t wait for more to come!
I'm not sure who said it but in the 1970s and with regards to Lester Bangs, they posed the question: what if the best writer in America is writing music journalism? So basically what I'm trying to say is and with a sense of self aware hyperbole: what if one of the best independent film-makers in the US is currently making jacket reviews on UA-cam?
He is. I said it for a year or two ago, this young gem of a man will for sure become successful within his passions. Its not the topics who is most entertaining, its the rest of it. He could present paint drying and make it interesting.
fun fact, Manifattura used to be Filson's manufacturer for the European and Japanese market. So whenever you come across a Filson that is "made in Italy", it's made by them
The scene at the table is me speaking to my wife about watches. Also, you should do a “how to” video on how you come up / script your videos. I don’t even make videos but am so impressed at the mindset. I have said it once and will say it again - Wes Anderson.

Finally mentions the one Italian jacket that meets all your criteria, and show us pictures of THREE different jackets. No names. No help. WOT? Still a great review of different jacket types. Highly entertaining. Two thumbs up!
I have the fisherman down parka since last year. It's exactly what I'm looking for. It has a bit of polyester trimming but otherwise it's all natural fabric and I love it. Also bought it on sale but it is still pricey. But compared to the popular Canada Goose polyester coat, it's way way better and more breathable. I'm simply a fan of natural clothing.
@@sorenjunkers3834 For the down filled version, it can handle -30C with just a T underneath, as long as you don't do heavy physical activity and sweat bec the cotton liner simply soaks sweat and weaken the insulation. I don't have the wool padded version but I'm guessing it is less warm but can handle a bit of moisture.
In Germany and Austria they make coats out of a wool mix called Loden. Basically all old school hunting garments were made out of it. Nowadays it is less prominent and went a bit out of style. The LL Bean founder on the picture you showed was basically wearing one. Personally I like the Wolverine Jacket from Icefox.
yeah but if the weather gets really shitty and you move around a lot it is always too heavy and thats why nowadays only hunters really use Loden jackets. I still have a lighter one because I love wool but the real weather resistant stuff is way too heavy for me and id rather wear a down parka
@@TomKraus Most people prefer not to get wet. Have you ever been soaking wet in lode? It is not nice. A fisherman would never wear Loden. If you want to protect yourself from the water it really is not a good material.
@@sorenjunkers3834 different use case. 80% of the time in the winter you don’t need waterproof clothing. Not even in winter. Even in skiing some start rethinking using full weather proof clothing. Especially in backcountry skiing breathability and keeping warm is more favourable. See Morino Wool base layers or pants and jackets with limited water repellent properties for the majority of days. Nobody in the outdoor sports would wear rubber boots and fishermen bibs for their activity. Loden will not become the materiel for these neither but I think the full waterproof craze will mellow down.
Michael, I wonder if you’ve explored the topic of Cashball? It’s basically cashmere scraps that are shredded up and used as a down alternative, and is apparently better at insulating than down especially in wet conditions. I’ve only really seen Noah NYC utilizing cashball but I thought it might interest you/your viewers
Imagine camping in front of the woods waiting for it to be opened. Sounds like something I'd do with the boys when we're hammered 😅 congrats for 14k btw!!
You need the filson cruiser and then layer a duffle coat over, followed by your wind/ water resistant down layer over the top of both of them lol. The you can comfortably sleep in central park if necessary at -20c.
Real McCoys makes some high quality repro N1 Deck Jackets like what Lee Marvin wears in a flashback scene in Point Blank - I’ve got one that’s jungle cloth and the color is so gold its almost green. Then there’s a Canada Goose Maitland, a model CG doesn’t make. For daily wear, though a Patagonia Drift Down jacket with an Gen I ECWS Shell with a woodland camo. The shell is loose enough to accommodate the down coat. I have an even roomier Wintergreen Anorak designed for layering. Duffle coats look great but they are really heavy - the reason why I sold mine was only because of the weight.
This is a very nice genuine vlog-clothing video. I'll always be a fan of filson cruisers for casual and outdoor pursuits-- but I think I want a peacoat now. GAH! choices, choices.
