The Iron Snail is a men’s fashion vlog starring a young man named Michael and featuring a snail no bigger than a quarter. The two are set on taking over the world of fashion by creating a clothing line to end all clothing lines. Until then, we’re here to tell you EVERYTHING you need to know about the best clothing out there, from the highest quality raw denim jeans to the warmest jacket to the sturdiest boots…the Iron Snail has got you covered. (written by Taylor, though Michael is sometimes known to talk about himself in the third person… xoxo)

Best line so far this season on the iron snail, "If you know someone who has selvedge jeans and leather boots that can be re-soled, but will never be re-soled, then chances are, they will have a deck jacket."

The denim-head stereotype cookie cutter sheep induced following trend of being different and individualistic as possible…like the comment about the boots. Traditionalistic conformity of the stereotype that seeks the selvage addiction is, to myself, a bit like getting on the sheep train…i love the style, but i also love the scene in i-robot with the army if identical droids all lined-up for the next order. Btw i enjoy the episodes, a smile always feels good🐌

So basically what I'm trying to say is and with a sense of self aware hyperbole: what if one of the best independent film-makers in the US is currently making jacket reviews on UA-cam?

In Germany and Austria they make coats out of a wool mix called Loden. Basically all old school hunting garments were made out of it. Nowadays it is less prominent and went a bit out of style. The LL Bean founder on the picture you showed was basically wearing one.

I have a synthetic coat that i wear when it's really cold, layer it with a wool sweater and it's super toasty. But, I'd say a deck jacket or something similar (thick wool sweater with a rain shell, B3, etc) is good down to like 15 degrees.

Real McCoys makes some high quality repro N1 Deck Jackets like what Lee Marvin wears in a flashback scene in Point Blank - I’ve got one that’s jungle cloth and the color is so gold its almost green. Then there’s a Canada Goose Maitland, a model CG doesn’t make. For daily wear, though a Patagonia Drift Down jacket with an Gen I ECWS Shell with a woodland camo. The shell is loose enough to accommodate the down coat. I have an even roomier Wintergreen Anorak designed for layering. Duffle coats look great but they are really heavy - the reason why I sold mine was only because of the weight.

Weather varies too much in new england to have an "ultimate" winter jacket. So instead I have like 15, most of which you mentioned in this video lol.

I actually wanted to buy a Ceccarelli winter jacket last year but the sleeves were sadly too short for me. Otherwise the materials and construction is really nice

if you're into Italian jackets, check out Putin's favourite Loro Piana jacket. It's $14k , but dressing up like a murderous dictator is priceless and fashionable.
