- Over the past two months i have met some of the best people and seen some of the most beautiful views. I joined the Gamma Eta chapter of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority, lived in the International House dorms and made friends from Norway, Egypt, Cyprus, Canada, Mexico, Korea, India, Kazakhstan and Sweden to name a few.
This video scrapes the surface of the crazy, busy, fun time I've had so far on my student exchange at California State University, Long Beach.

Hey I know this was a while ago and this might be a weird question but do you remember your general cost of living in Long Beach? I really want to apply but my parents want me to calculate the costs before I apply. My college at home would cover the tuition but what about rent, food, transportation and other little things? Can you give me a general idea? :)

Hi Tahina, each sorority varies on the cost. But it was 100 per cent worth it and I would have otherwise spent that money on other activities/food anyway.

Hi Victoria! Some Americans lived in International House too and there are plenty of opportunities to meet locals on campus. The dorms shared the same dining halls x

Alice White Hi Alice! Firstly, that’s so exciting that you’re going on exchange- you will have the time of your life!
Sorority recruitment is held during the Fall semester; however, depending on the year/numbers/chapter some sororities hold a smaller recruitment process or informal recruitment in Spring. Some sororities also don’t allow exchange students. There will be a panhellenic body at your school to help so reach out to them :) good luck!
