@@jungkookthegoldenmaknae1237 Hey. I am not fully aware on CSULB's selection process but I got accepted and I'll tell you my information. I did not take the SAT or ACT. I have an average 3.6 weighted GPA. I have been a part of multiple clubs some including varsity (trust me their not eyeopening). That's it. Nothing stands out in my application yet the accepted me. Hope this works.
Hello! I'm going to be rooming at Parkside next school year and I have a few questions. Do you remember what the room had before you moved in? I know that it has beds, drawers, closets, tables, and chairs but do they provide clothes hangers? Do you know how thick the bed is because I'm not sure if I should buy extra padding for the bed or if its just good enough since I'm pretty low on cash. What else do you recommend on bringing? Should I bring something to organize my things? Also I'm really scared about the showering aspect too. I saw the showers and the only thing that's separating it is a curtain xD. Should I bring a bathrobe to change somehow?? Should I bring shower shoes too? Or is barefoot just fine? I'm just very confused about it all. Should I bring detergent too? Are tidepods alright to bring? Thank you!
Hi! You need your own clothes hangers and any storage you want for the closet--it comes empty (but it does have a shelf at the top). I bought a mattress pad because my back is really sensitive so I knew I needed it, but it's not essential. I knew people in the dorms that just used the mattress as it was. I would for sure recommend buying or renting a mini fridge and microwave, as well as a fan (the dorms can get pretty hot). Talk to your roommate beforehand about those things so you can figure out who is bringing what. I had an organizer for food because I was making some meals in the dorms (and for snacks, tea, etc), but otherwise I wouldn't say that you need extra storage unless you're bringing a ton of stuff. The dresser, desk drawers, and closet were plenty for what I brought with me. Yes, the showers just have a curtain. Some people had bathrobes, but personally I just brought my clothes in a bag that I hung on the hook outside with my towel and then changed in the shower. Some people also would just wrap themselves in a towel and then go back to their rooms to change--I wouldn't say a bathrobe is necessary at all. I would highly recommend shower shoes--just go to Target and get some cheap flip-flops. You need your own detergent, and Tide pods are fine! That's what I used :) I hope this helps, and let me know if you have any other questions! This is the link to my dorm tour if you were interested in how I organized my things: ua-cam.com/video/g7Haj8jln6s/v-deo.html&t and this is a link to my night routine where I show the bathrooms: ua-cam.com/video/V8AcfPAihuU/v-deo.html
You do have a super high rise dorm now. Parkside Housing North. It is a world-class facility. It houses over 450 students. It has many amenities. Probably the nicest dormitory at any university in California or, for that matter, the USA. Check it out.
Heyyy...!! That's cool information...i have been enrolled for csulb...just wanted to know about the rents of those dorms and meal plans u mentioned as well as wanted to know how many students can share a room...If u can provide this information that would be very helpful... Thank you.
I live in the san Fernando valley and I got accepted to both CSUN and CSULB and I'm torn. I don't know which one to choose, for CSUN I wouldn't have to move.
hi thanks for making your videos! im an incoming freshman and i was researching about the dorms. do you know exactly which dorms have air conditioning and which don't? i really hate the heat so i need ac lol
hi! thanks for explaining everything!! I’m thinking about coming to Long Beach for my semester abroad - i was wondering if internationals live all on their own or if each international is in a room with a native (i hope you know what I mean haha) ☺️
Hi! If you live on campus in International House, you will be paired with a “native” 😀 You could get an apartment with other international students though!
Thanks May for all your great videos. I was wondering where the hillside laundry areas were. My son is in a traditional building and we are confused where he should go. I am thinking it is located in Los Cerritos. Will his ID card work there to use the laundry area?
Lisa Ficele If he is in Los Cerritos, there are two laundry rooms, one in each wing of the first floor. And yes, beach bucks on his ID card should work :)
He is actually is in building E of the traditional halls or suites. So I am not sure where he is suppose to go. Lol. The one thing we didn’t check out before I left him there.
@@lisaficele4140 Oh, okay! In that case, the laundry room is in the basement. But my friend who's an RA in that building just informed me that the washers there are broken 😅 He could try going to one in a different building! I'll ask her if the ID cards still work in a different dorm, but I don't see why they wouldn't!
Starr S I don’t remember, sorry! I think you meet in the common room, so there are some chairs/couches. Anyone else who has moved in more recently, feel free to chime in!
@@christopherclaure6689 lol you already know! I actually stayed at the off campus dorms and they did not have an Ethernet cable connection, but I did manage to get a wifi adapter that worked well.
Hi! Glad to hear 😀 When I was in the dorms, yes! If you didn't want to message potential roommates and request someone specific, you would have one randomly assigned.
Hello! I have a question about the housing application. I initially applied for housing the day after it opened. But I wasn’t too sure if I actually submitted the application so I resubmitted it three days later. Will this affect my chances of getting housing or will they see that I originally submitted the application early?
Hi, do we have to choose university housing or could we take an apartment off campus? I’m an international student and wanted to know if getting an apartment was possible.
Hi! Unless your host university has specific rules on this, as far as I know there aren't any restrictions for international students when it comes to housing.
Hi! I looked up CSULB's current rates and I believe it is $9590 for the academic year. It looks like it's considered a "double room premium." Here is the link if you want to check out the prices! www.csulb.edu/student-affairs/university-housing-residential-life/university-housing/housing-fees-academic-year
I'm not sure. I read an article about a dorm downtown but I think it's for art students and faculty? As far as I know, ground hasn't been broken or anything--it was just something that was proposed.
hi! i was wondering if you know what languages are available at csulb? i saw that theres languages available in different departments but im confused as to whether, as an pre bus international bus major, if im able to take, say tagalog or korean, for my required language class?
I know we have French, Russian, Spanish, German, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Khmer, and Korean and Tagalog like you said and probably some others, but I don't know enough about your major to be able to tell you which ones would count, sorry!
@@allyssaespinoza1919 Only the traditional halls (Los Cerritos, Los Alamitos) have communal, down the hall bathrooms. All the other buildings have bathrooms shared within the suites.
It depends on your major. If you are doing engineering, graphic design, or something else that is going to require a lot of additional programs, I would get like an HP spectre or something like that. A macbook is always a good bet, but they're super expensive. I've had a Lenovo Yoga for college, and it's been okay but not great. Sorry if this wasn't super helpful, I really don't know that much about computers 😅 If other people who see this want to give advice, please jump in!
Just accepted my spot at Long Beach! I’m excited to see what it’s like there in person.
Awesome!
its not a pretty area its semi ghetto well for me its ghetto I rather go to Sacramento or ucsb tbh
Thank you! I’m going in as a freshman and I need to choose my room tomorrow 😅 last minute info rush and this helped a lot

Spectacular explanation on everything with housing! The tap cards are now $40/semester
The Jonathan Yip Animation Studios Yes, unfortunately they are :/
