[Manhattan] Crane Collapse after 9/11 ceremony - Rare catches of responding emergency services
Вставка
- Опубліковано 20 вер 2018
- I was at the fire house of FDNY engine 1 and ladder 24 on 9/11/18 where they were helding the 9/11 memorial ceremony when they were suddenly called 2nd due to a collapse of beams from a crane. After heading to the scene I was still able to film some rare emergency vehicles such as Homeland Security, State Troopers, Unmarked FDNY cars, Emergency Management, NYPD Borough Command unit, MTA ESU, NYPD SRG..
These agencies probably all responded due to it being the 17th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks and the fear of another big incident.
Luckily no injuries were reported. Enjoy the video.

38:27 - Homeland Security guy making the most of his once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to use lights and siren!
Why in the heck is home land Security that for?
@@nathanmueller1838 DHS has offices around the US, they have Homeland Security Police to protect those building and the immediate surrounding area, so the scene is probably near one of the offices so he would be able to help out. DHS officers don't get a great amount of opportunities to use their Lights lmao
Whats confusing to me tho, is seeing the K-9 Unit at 4:10 with blue lights on the front. I thought in NY its only reds and whites on the front and blues on the back
@@Kodiak438 no they have red and blues there
@@Kodiak438 That was NY/NJ Port Authority. They use blue and red forward facing.
New York City's always crazy, but especially during large events.
The response to emergencies is multiplied by a thousand times merely because so many personnel and officials from different agencies are on-duty for the event, so they respond there, and then they're needed back at the event so they respond back there.
Not to mention an incident like this usually affects multiple agencies jurisdictions; port authority, state highway, city of New York...etc.
For us emergency vehicle spotters, it's like being a kid in a candy store.
Exactly lol.
More like a Kid in the LEGO store, it's 2018. :p I feel your adrenaline.

If its the prius i think that is an FDNY car.
NYPD will make any car into a NYPD vehicle even an ATV
President: how many units are you gonna send to it?
NYPD: yes
LMFAO
😂😂😂😂😂😂🤨🤨
NYPD: 1000000 units
NYPD turns anything to a police vehicle. From a skateboard to a bus 😂
They commandeered our riding lawn mower the other day ha ha! No wonder it costs so much to live in NYC. People are probably paying for the massive emergency response budgets of vehicles and staff and uniforms and equipment. How much inventory is there of this stuff? Does anyone even know?
I think the NYPD Smart Car is hilarious! Wont see them in a high speed pursuite nor having as much difficulty getting through traffic!
And a horse
Bryant Troncoso you do realize that those buses were used to transport many cops to a real life threatening-emergency right? go watch World Trade Center
@Burleon That's a great idea considering they quit making the Crown Vic 7 years ago.
Imagine how nerve racking it must be to not know whats going on but see and hear a bunch of emergency vehicles on the 9/11 anniversary
I live in Montreal city. 2-3 years ago, I was in the subway, heading downtown for work. Suddently, they announced that all public transportation was suspended. Because I was close from my office, I decided to go by foot. Once outside, there were firefighters, police officers, swat, medics and emergency vehicules litterally everywhere downtown. Seing that kind of deployment for the first time in my life, I immediatly thought this was a terrorist attack. This video reminds me of this day. A very stressfull experience, especially early in the morning.
@@wxyzmarkus6834 What happend in Monteal. (Coming from a edmontonian)
As a New Zealander, I find the attitude of the NY public towards the first responders unbelievable
Kiwi bro
God the traffic is bad in NY
True.
agreed, as a fellow kiwi
Its because they are so desensitized to police vehicles and sirens its just become another noise the city makes.
Plus NYPD always goes WAAAAAY over the top for responding to things like this.
This was a crane collapse and yet they treated it like a terror incident.
And as long as New Yorkers don't see smoke or fire or hear explosions they pretty much wave it off as another minor emergency being treated as a major event by the NYPD. They see it as practice. Lol
@@igotanM16 An excellent comment.
2:41 a NYPD tow truck towing a NYPD cruiser
I was laughing at that.
The driver driving The cruiser was jerking off, so for The safety, he called a tow truck to tow The car to get to The scene
Thats not great but a NYPD tow truck towing a NYPD tow truck is 5:52
-Thunder - Bear- A
Dan with da Van Not another tow truck, it was a barrier/barricade truck, the ones that often carry cones and those blue “police line do not cross” barriers and those silver barriers they put up when there are parades and stuff like that!
Responding with little regard for their own health and demise and still suffering and passing. Many off duty still responded. I got to meet a fellow Long Islander NYPD officer who was on his way home and turned around to come back. Met him while he was showing his family including two children where he served in the US military because he had just months to live from his injuries suffered from 9/11. A true hero.
Really! Where is he now?
@@surprisedgordon7786 hope he beat the odds and is alive and well.
@@wizerdjuice9589 that's great! Hope his family is doing well too
This video is literally longer than when I went to every neighborhood in my borough to search for emergency vehicles. This was serious.
That moment when you thought the video was 9/11 but then realize where tf did the hd camera came from, and thought it was a time traveler. But then paused the video and read the desc.... :p
34:54 This is a rare catch: a Barricade Division Unit (The rear part of the bed has BARRIER #### markings) . International Series Truck.
**BEFORE YOU START COMMENTING THAT THIS ISN’T FILMED AT 9-11-2001! READ THE DESCRIPTION FIRST! THANK YOU!!**
Why would you say 911 collapse
Huh? Realy easy to see that it's impossible. Just look at the recording quality and the cars, if someone think this was filmed in '2001, bring him/her to hospital.
coolboombox160 yes thank you! I was confused at first thinking those cars are more modern
Thomas 32 cause whatever collapsed, collapsed on 9/11
Thomas 32 because there was a huge attack in September 11th 2001 in Mew York City it killed 3000 Americans this happen on September 11th 2018 so there was a huge response to prevent an incident from happening again
Can't believe I spent 40 minutes of my life watching this

Bob Koncius they have sirens so they can pull people over lol
If you look at 25:48, it says the Impound lot is at the next right. All those tow trucks were probably going to the lot, but the collapse blocked it. Hence why many have cars on them. Just found that out today lol

Jesus,it more secure than president's escort.
yep when the president goes to NYC the NYPD don't play around
This turned into a keystone cops comedy of how many different agencies, departments and types of vehicles can respond to a crane accident with no injuries.
Top notch amazing video want more of these please 😊
brilliant catches!
9:14 NYCs elite spec ops team
Lol
I know this is a joke but it's seriously or easily identified not a Elite spec ops team. It's something different from a swat vehicle or even a unmarked fib vehicle.

They should change NYC's nickname from The Big Apple to the The Big Barricade!

Was that Tahoe with the Ambers a Stringer Vehicle, or your vehicle?
Baffling me how hard it is for people to learn driving 101 such as pull tf over and stop all movement of your vehicle when a emergency vehicle is coming by. They really need to either start heavily fining or start revoking driving PRIVILEGES from those clowns.
It’s NY sir, no where to pull over and the worse you can do is stop, cause the cops still stay right there
whats the blue and one stripe on the back of some of the trooper suvs?
Why did they need all those cops for at a crane collapse?
If I had to guess, probably security reasons.
Perhaps the initial call was vague enough for a possibility of non accidental causation, so mutual aid from the State & Homeland Security was triggered, or there simply weren't enough spare NYPD to seal off the scene for safety and preservation so they actuated Mutual Aid for that?
Are you trying to answer a question with a question? I was looking for an answer.
Ron Roberts Because Of The Anti-Terrorism protocols that are in place in NYC for obvious reasons.

I love how multiple agencies are organized... And it's funny how traffic it's chaotic but the cyclists keep going :D
Talk about a major scare, 17 anniversary of 9/11 and you get a alarm of a collapse in that exact area. Boy, for those first responders who went to the call they probably was thinking we're re living hell again. That is a very scary location to get a call for, and then for it to be on THE 17TH ANNIVERARY OF THE ATTACKS!!!
(Edit) Also, thank god it was a crane, but dang they legit probably rolled every FDNY, NYPD and other emergency units to the scene instantly. You could tell that they sent a lot of units. Plus a lot of the first responders we're looking up at the crane most likely but it sends some pretty bad nostalgia.
THAT NYSP CHARGER, THE K-9 EXPEDITION/EXPLORER, AND THE 2015 TAHOE WAS REALY GOOD LOOKING!
Very awesome footage !!!
Excellent video! :)
Can someone explain the NYPD tow trucks at 14:26 ? Is that how they clear an emergency scene for the FD vehicles etc or whats up with those?
No I think they just add to come down because they made all units come to respond. because they were scared something like 9/11 would happen ther
If there was ever a time to rob city hall, this would have been the perfect moment lol
John Lovett I like the reference to die hard. "Look around all the cops are into something. You could steal city hall"
@@bricestarcher3636 exactly!!!!!
If there was a robbery, they would activate NYNG, US Marines, US Army, US Air Forces, US Coast Guard, CIA, DEA, NTSB, FBI, EPA, FTC, FCC, SEC, USDA, USAID, Department of Energy, SBA, OPIC, EXIM, NSA, DC, NYSO, NYPD every unit including special sewer ratsfinders unit, NYFD, DHS, NATO, FDA, UN PEACEKEEPERS, FEMA, Department of Justice, IRS, customs & borders service, Immigrations.. Personally, I don't like New York State Police's new lightbar. Anyway, this is an impressive footage my friend. It's incredible the response level of the authorities in New York City.

They definitely need more different agencies on scene.....
You know its pretty rare to see crownvicks these days im glad to see theres some still in service
So from what I gather, there was a massive response because law enforcement is on high-alert on 9/11 - that makes sense. What doesn't make sense is when the first responders realize its just a crane collapse, do they not notify their dispatch? This video should be 5-10 units responding, realizing its no big deal and leaving. Not hundreds responding one after the other, "but mommy he got to see the crane collapse now we all want to see it..." sort of thing, or??
They're gettin out of the 911 service because honestly I bet they didn't wanna see it again n again
Most of the towtrucks are going to the Impound lot up the street, says the sign at 25:48. They use their lights and sirens to cheat traffic. The ESU trucks are probably to remove the crane pieces, since they have winches
@@ember_shep8181 that and State Troopers likely had the whole day in NYC, so it would've been sit here or sit somewhere else. While I agree this is a massive response for ziltch but at the same time I'm also seeing them show up, then leave shortly after likely on other calls so I guess as long as calls get answered it's okay by the bosses. Lol
How does NYPD have a bigger response than the FDNY like jeez
Seeing NYC in it’s state it is in today is just sad, I used to look up to that city.

noticing , why where a few vehicles towed to location instead of driven? id assume that it isnt that it be broken and be towed as i assume they have multiple trucks with fences or such for instance?
DHS in
DHS out
I assume there's good reason for this but like...wow
as a retired police officer and (briefly) fed...no, there isn't. DHS FPS comes in, says hi, and then leaves again. They are a humungous waste of money.
@Federal Bureau of Investigation. I respectfully disagree my friend. When DHS contracts for security and other private police companies to do this work, it is incumbent upon those agencies to do that work. I can understand having one inspector for a city or a certain area to do this job, but when three or four 10 of the units show up it is a humongous waist. I have seen it far too many times in the course of my career.
@Federal Bureau of Investigation. I served as a Federal Officer. I'm well aware of the difference. However, in the case of FPS. There are far too many of them to be effective. If they're only going to do property inspections, then they don't need much of the equipment that they currently have. They certainly do not need many of the units that they currently have. Hence the redundancy.
@Federal Bureau of Investigation. believe me, yes they do. The FBS police is huge. Their officers have unbelievable benefits take-home vehicles and equipment that they do not need. Additionally, we are talking about Federal buildings. Many of which are fenced and gated and already heavily protected. It is a waste
strange to see a DHS Taurus. Nice catch!
Does anyone knkw whats up with the explorer front windows in NYC? Cant seem to find out why they open like they do.

anyone else notice the land rover with emergency lights? Ive never seen one being used as an emergency vehicle in America DRT 6595

Looking back, WTC was a special case scenario where traditional building specifications were not used. The design made the buildings susceptible to fire damage/collapse. Hopefully, the architect's design will not be re-used. For future response, FDNY should survey building designs and note stability issues. Notations would be no entry and evacuate only.
WTC was built i the 60's before buildings codes were even a huge deal no bulding can withstand a 767 impact
