It’s frustrating to argue with a non-cyclist. It’s a good product for a cyclist to ensure an extra level of safety. And simply, no one can see your raised hands when it’s at night/dark
They're speaking from a drivers perspective. The people you're trying to protect yourself from. Also, they can see your raised hands at night/dark if you're wearing hi-vis clothing which is what you should be doing at night.
It's a terrible product for cyclists. 99.99% of bicycles don't have turn signals, so nobody is looking out for turn signals on a bicycle. If anyone does see a flashing light on the end of your handlebars, I guarantee that they're thinking "What's that flashing light?" not "Cyclist is about to turn."
I wouldn't use those as a sole way of signalling. They would be complementary to using hand signals (especially at night) which every cyclist should be comfortable doing if they frequent the road.
Debra made a point, exactly what I was thinking, they're just to small to see. On the other hand, putting your arm out at night cannot be seen properly, unless you are wearing a high viz. From Sarah's point of view, saying "I wouldn't know what it was for when I see it on a bike" I think the light would give you a clue that someone is close to you, to signal, when you are driving your car. I just think these guys need to make a bigger one.
Bike Suit. It's a business suit with wheels on the back. You lay down and it's like being on a toboggan. For the business man on the go or the business man who wants to roll around his empty offices in London on his lunch break.
I'd be interested to see how noticeable they would be on a road bike handlebar. I suspect they'd be hidden by the rider. I don't think I'd feel confident that this would be noticed more than an arm out. To simply press the light and pull across traffic seems quite risky.
Sticking your hand out and pulling across traffic is "quite risky", too. You need to look and check that it's actually clear! But these lights are still a terrible idea. Nobody expects them to be there, so nobody will look out for them. Anybody who does see them will be thinking, "Huh, what's that flashing light?" not "Aha, cyclist about to turn."
I recall, many years ago we used to never miss Dragons' Den at our house, when it was on the telly. They did many seasons since, and these days no one has a TV. Now I'm watching these back-to-back here on YT. It's still a great show, and this is my favourite line-up of dragons.
this is genius, Sarah missed the whole thing by focusing solely on her specific case. Think about how ppl drive right now, even when we turn our signals we check our blind spots and rear before switching lanes or turning, this is exactly the same whilst aggregating to that safety net.
It's not genius. 99.99% of bicycles don't have indicator lights, so nobody's looking out for them. Anybody who does see them will just think "Huh, what's that flashing light?"
In the early 1960's my brother had a similar set of flashing indicators on his bike. The problem was that in inclement weather especially fog and mist only the flashing light could be seen by a driver. As the flashers located in the ends of the handlebars were too close together the following driver could not determine which direction the cyclist was going to turn. After a few near misses my brother scrapped these dangerous devices.
Indicators does nog belong on bikes. In Denmark the law says " Even if you have indicators on bikes or mopeds, you stil have to signal with you hand in which direction you wish to turn".
This is not new, as back in about 1956 I bought an indicator thingy to mount under the saddle, which was a box with two left/right arrows that lit up orange when I used a switch on my handle bars, to save sticking my arm out when turning......not too bad in daylight, but at night more visible I thought. I was ignored by drivers behind me, and got beeped at a lot when turning, so I took it off and chucked in the bin. It seemed a good idea at the time to have some modern (useless) tech. on my push bike........lol The same for these gadgets. because surely it depends on the length of your handle bars, or drop handlebars on 'racing' bikes, because if a bit short, the pedalist would hide them from view? Perhaps if they were on the end of 5-6" extensions from the end of the handlebars, that might make them a bit more visible. But then if you have to stick your arm out anyway to indicate left/right, what's the point of these 'flashers'?
Sarah is right, bicycles do have lots of flashing lights on them, but not orange and I think if I saw that I would know right away it's an indicator. Like Nick said what does she think when she sees a scooter indicating? But just can see Deborah's point, from some angles you can't see the one side.
Front AND back is key tbf. No-one looks for an indicator on the front of the vehicle they're approaching. The ones I remember from the 80's were also a lot bigger than those ones (bigger but not inhibitively so).
I’ve got one of these. Looks nice but to indicate you have to tap the light which causes instability. Shame because I wanted to like them. Plus being at the front does block visibility from behind. Ended up with a smart helmet which has flashing arrows. Much more visible.
LuStar yeah it’s great. Livall smart helmet hands free with indicators, Bluetooth phone and even an app which is meant to notify a loved one of it sense you fall suddenly. It’s on amazon for £149. Or the Winglights thems3lves are £37.
All they need is a bracket to attach to the rear where you can add two more indicators that wirelessly connect to the front ones. No need for an additional switch.

@BS Handle Created fingerless would be nice indeed. I wouldn't buy that, since gloves in general are smtg I lose all the time, just like sunglasses. If I had the blinkers from the pitch, I would maybe lose them, but at least that should be cheaper than the gloves or a helmet w blinkers.
@BS Handle Created security because in the uk anything not permanently affixed to a bike ie quick release wheels/seats or any kind of lights typically becomes a target for theft
Gloves that have a flashing amber LED strip across the back so traffic can clearly see your hand signal. Little on/off button sits in the crease of the thumb and 1st knuckle so you can turn it on and off as needed without taking your hand off the handlebars.
I think the ON/OFF needs to be linked to two lights at the rear on stalks then when turning left or right these will be seen by people ahead and by people following.
The right answer is that hand signaling is still a good complement and this makes it even safer. Just because you have these it doesnt glue your hands to the bar ofc..

I cycle everywhere and would not buy this. I agree with Deborah. Putting your arm out is a lot clearer and safer imo. Makes me feel better and safer as a cyclist. Indicator lights that I can put on my wrist? Sure. I'd buy that for sure.
Did they say the lights eliminate the need to put out the hand. It's added tools to get drivers attentions. No matter you have, defensive riding and driving is key. Too many people driving with their eyes on their phones.
Good on Nick. He had their back from the start and stuck up for them everytime a dragon said something bad about their product. Not often you see that in the den. Glad they picked him.
I like when Peter and Deborah don't offer and another dragon gets it. They would have offered at 35% then the pitchers come back and ask them to reduce which pisses off the other dragons and peter walks away with 25%
Because everytime someone pitches a product that he is involved in for example clothing or in this case bikes he believes that he should slap on an outrages percentage.
@@gilbertsamuel2144 yes it is, peter jones does it but he can get away with it because its peter and he has a previous history of getting business to a very profitable business. I have actually heard touker on 2 occasions ask for half of someones company lol. Outrages!!
I rarely see a cyclist using hand signals in the way taught me back in the 50s. with your arm straight out from the shoulder. But I wonder if the turn signal lights are visible with riders wearing big flappy coats in winter, plus the bags they all seam to carry. The one good point is they make the bike visible from the side during a turn, if the set up could be made to work with an additional set behind the rider then their onto a winner.
How in the hell can ANYONE come into dragons den, shark tank or other shows and not now everything about the investors is beyond me. What is wrong with these entrepreneurs? I know more about these dragons in America, than they do as UK/Londoners.
It's actually a great product, but you'd still have to take one of your hands off of a handle to turn it on. Why not include a little wired switch for the thumb? Or better yet, a bluetooth switch.
Trust me, ANY added lights on your bike help. Do the arm, have lights everywhere, have the loudest bell...I ride everyday and have almost died twice (not exaggerating). I ride well, but at night, lights are EVERYTHING in the city.
I had something similar years ago that fit just below the seat and was actual arrows, they fazed out pretty quick because it was a gimmick. No one really used them and for a driver of a car, they don't really have the time to look all around trying to see if there are signals. Nothing will ever beat the hand signals that no one ever uses anymore. Bike riders almost dare you to hit them expecting you to adjust your 3000 pound car to their 70 pound bike.
I would have made the lights sit out further on some type of flexible material that could easily bend if brushed up against something. Make it easier to see them.
Im both a cyclist and a driver and I can see Sarah's point. I think its a very valid point and I certainly wouldnt substitute hand signals for this crap.
Not only her point about the flashing lights being common on bike (which is true - though not orange) which can cause confusion, but also the fact that you have to be literally directly behind the cyclist to see them. That is a complete design failure in my opinion.
@@memoriam1868 Maybe not to all road users as Sarah has proven. The bike they brought to their pitch proves the design failure. If they're not easily visible they're useless. They should stand out rather than being sleek. If you used these and they were invisible to the driver from where the driver was sat and you also didn't use a hand indication any injury would be your fault.
@@memoriam1868 In regard to your comment that this is not a proper bike, I often see this variation of bicycle living in a city. Also, other handlebars on road bikes would be unsuitable. This product would be more visible on mountain bike handle bars which are very wide and not the type of bike you'd often use to cycle on road.
It`s not ideal up front, I`d probably have my hand way too close to the indicator and cars don`t know that this might be an indicator. As someone who rides a bike every day, I would love real indicators on bikes , quite often when you turn left it`s tough to indicate with my arm because I`m scared to fall. but than they gonna have to be the same for everyone so cars behind me really know what`s going on. on bikes
There's another Dragon's Den video pitching a cycle helmet with built-in lights - white and red for front and back in that case. I think this indicator idea is less practical because the small lights are less visible and, since you have to signal with your arm as well, they are a supplement to rather than a replacement for signalling. I wonder what the Highway Code says about this, if anything?
Silly people replying to me. You ever see an indicator on a car? It's pretty bright. These small toys don't emit enough lumens to be visible when the sun is out. You'd need a much larger power source for that to work. Totally useless product.
@@LBPreviews I agree...not to mention they're on the FRONT of the bike not the back lol. Tiny, on the front, still required to use arm signals (UK law), and literally no driver is looking for them...what could possibly go wrong? 😂
I know what would go brilliantly with this ; some LED lights on Road signs

I cycle everywhere and would not buy this. I agree with Deborah. Putting your arm out is a lot clearer and safer imo. Makes me feel better and safer as a cyclist. Indicator lights that I can put on my wrist? Sure. I'd buy that for sure.
Did they say the lights eliminate the need to put out the hand. It's added tools to get drivers attentions.
No matter you have, defensive riding and driving is key. Too many people driving with their eyes on their phones.
Perhaps they need to use some flow lights, it has a red colour. It has arrows.
After also having developed a bike radio, clove compartment and airbag, the company went bust in 2015..
No, they didn't; they're still going. They're now called Cycl.
Touker: *sarcastically* Did you do your homework? Did you do your homework?
Peter: Obviously not!
Touker: Oh ok
Put lights on bicycle gloves, so when you make the legal arm motion they can see the light flashing the direction you are going.
So you're on a bike, you need to turn left, so you fit a flow signal.
Good on Nick. He had their back from the start and stuck up for them everytime a dragon said something bad about their product. Not often you see that in the den. Glad they picked him.
Damn where is that curry video?!!
I like when Peter and Deborah don't offer and another dragon gets it. They would have offered at 35% then the pitchers come back and ask them to reduce which pisses off the other dragons and peter walks away with 25%
Touker hardly gets chosen when most dragons make offers. Does he have bad rep or it's his offers that are bad?
Been thinking the same thing!
Because everytime someone pitches a product that he is involved in for example clothing or in this case bikes he believes that he should slap on an outrages percentage.
@@CuddlesOG sounds greedy
Even in bicycle country Netherlands almost NO ONE uses hand signals. Pisses me off
It's not a winner because nobody's looking out for indicator lights on bicycles.
How in the hell can ANYONE come into dragons den, shark tank or other shows and not now everything about the investors is beyond me. What is wrong with these entrepreneurs? I know more about these dragons in America, than they do as UK/Londoners.
Wonder why the previous video was deleted 🤔
Jenny: I'm out, and for that reason I don't see this as an investable business
I bet the dragons didn't write down both the entrepreneurs names at the beginning because they wouldn't want to even begin to attempt to spell it 😂
I seen these for sale a few years ago when I was looking for something like this. Never had a breeze they were on Dragons Den.
It's actually a great product, but you'd still have to take one of your hands off of a handle to turn it on. Why not include a little wired switch for the thumb? Or better yet, a bluetooth switch.
It's a terrible product. Nobody is looking out for indicator lights on bicycles.
Jenny: Thanks for the free gift and for that reason I am out.
What bike weighs 70lbs? And why do you believe you have priority just because your vehicle weighs more?
I would have made the lights sit out further on some type of flexible material that could easily bend if brushed up against something. Make it easier to see them.
do it then
Why? I'm not the one selling them.
they should just sell 4 indicators, one on handle bars and one on rear of the bike... use them in tandem like a normal vehicle
It's like a flow signal for your bike
Loool All I got from this is that Nick will not ride his bike if the other Dragons were driving near him
Sarah: Because I am a bad driver with a lack of common sense, your product is bad.
@@sj-red proper bike handles are wider and I think an amber flashing light to the side of a vehicle is pretty clear
As someone who rides a bike every day, I would love real indicators on bikes , quite often when you turn left it`s tough to indicate with my arm because I`m scared to fall. but than they gonna have to be the same for everyone so cars behind me really know what`s going on. on bikes
The first selling point should’ve been highlighted as night time riding. Hand signs aren’t visible at night
Astonishing that they didnt know of Touker's bikesoup website.
They’re not divided on the visibility. They’re just sat in different places.
Should have countered it. Have both for 10% each...
Jenny: it's lights OUT for me.
Who else feels posh when Deborah says "Excellent..."?
Well done Nick, great product anf very investible boys.
The Highway Code says that cyclists indicate turns by sticking their arm out.
Pizza Jones at 1:10 wrote: "Oh, freaking Italians!"
See lots of bikes these days. Never seen any flashing lights!
These things are totally useless as they wouldn't be visible in daylight.
Have you ever seen flash light being useful in daylight ?
So all car signal lights are useless during the daytime?
Silly people replying to me. You ever see an indicator on a car? It's pretty bright.
These small toys don't emit enough lumens to be visible when the sun is out. You'd need a much larger power source for that to work.
Totally useless product.
@@LBPreviews I agree...not to mention they're on the FRONT of the bike not the back lol. Tiny, on the front, still required to use arm signals (UK law), and literally no driver is looking for them...what could possibly go wrong? 😂
I've never seen a cyclist go down the road riding in circles 😂😂
This needs to fitted with some
“Flow Signals “ 👀🤔😂
Nick looks so scared of Debbie 😂
Jenny isnt even there and she's out 😂😂😂
