As a keen golfer, I do not see this taking off at all. The carry bag is a fairly small portion of the market, overpowered by cart and buggy users. Even then, your standard carry bag is a only kilo more but adds the water resistant element and the travel capability.

Why is it greedy? They want the Dragons' money, their time, their contacts, their ability to open doors and get their product into the mainstream. They are clearly struggling at the moment and just money invested is not enough sometimes. I would much rather own 50% of something with a Dragon that makes millions of pounds than 100% of something that makes very little. Look at Levi Roots, he used to sell a few thousand bottles of sauce at the Notting Hill Carnival but he gave a big chunk away to Peter for his investment and is now a multi millionaire.
I believe in a parallel universe there’s a UA-cam comment section where the jokes are all about Jenny saying YES to all the pitches - especially the ones that seem terrible .
Then, in later seasons, after Jenny went bankrupt after a long string of questionable investments, people would still post comments under terrible pitches, saying that if she were still around, she'd be all over the product ^^...
Absolutely. That's how you look upon it. The offer of a dragon actively involved in your business AND giving you free cash is once in a life-time opportunity. And probably the difference between major success and struggling for years and years or failure for many. It astonishes me that some turn down offers because of the equity requested by dragons for their time and involvement. And others with a reasonable offer haggle down to ridiculous equity levels below 10% which is an insult to these dragons and the fastest way to lose them. Especially if the business (as good as the product and people behind it might be) has no proven sales, assets or track record.
Clubs aren't protected should it start to rain. Setting them unprotected on the grass no great. Where and how do you store them in the garage? Horizontal not vertical.
I bought one of these at a golf show and it was really good, for a while. In the summer sun the plastic frame got too hot, softened and it completely collapsed dropping the clubs everwhere. I had to carry my clubs under my arm for the rest of the round, then chucked it in the bin afterwards!
100k for 20% just to get in front the Den. Then a refusal to offer about the same percentage terms to get in front of the world. Epic math failure, really, really dumb.
Where are you meant to put your tees, golf balls, pitch repairer, jumpers, golf jacket, golf gloves etc Most people that play golf have their bags stuffed with accesories
Exactly, its a dumb product. A bag on a pull along buggy is the best option. They even have a seat on them so you can take a rest. Theres so many accessories you cant hold with their product.
It's a product which promotes one's worst golfing nightmares - wet grips, and is incapable of storing all of one's essentials eg. waterproofs, hat, food, drink etc. With electric trollies and carts 'weight' is really not a significant golfing issue.
I think it was unfair for Peter to ask for the man to quit his job that monday, the man may not even have any sort of emergency fund and Peter didnt exactly offer him a wage as part of the deal. Other than that it was a generous deal specially from Peter!
Peter and the other Dragons in recent years have demanded entrepreneurs to quit their day jobs and I always thought that was an outrageous ask when these people are making ends meet for their families.
I don't. They are asking for a big investment and should be full time on the job. Perhaps they should delay then going into Dragons Den until they are earning some kind of wage. However that is not an investor's responsibility. These are business people, not government grants.
125k 10 years ago, he would be able to take a salary out of that, if the business didn't do well. Look at it from Peters perspective, if he wants to make back 125k at 26%, the business would have to profit 600k, meaning the other owners would be getting the other 475k, now peter wants more than just a flat return in 2 to 3 years, so lets say 800k profit at least, now are you going to balk at that much profit? the guy probably made 60k a year doing his day job. The brother in law was just dumb imo.
As someone who played golf in the past, the product with the extra shoulder strap is certainly better than the usual methods of carrying clubs around the course, and it also provides better organisation of the golf clubs. The thing is for me personally I would buy a buggy because it is easier than carrying clubs no matter how you carry them. So personally I would design it so it can also be either placed on a buggy (doesn't look possible at the moment), or design it so that it has its own wheels (maybe with detachable parts for those that want to carry it, or a separate version of the product). If one added an option with wheels it would be like two products in one. The other issue I see with the product though is when it rains. A normal bag covers the clubs better, so something to fix that might also be possible.
Rubbish idea, lucky to get offered anything for it. The golf clubs would get drenched in the rain making the grips on the clubs useless. Bags are already lightweight and there's alternative options for people who don't want to carry their clubs so the market for this bag doesn't even exist. Also golfers tend to put much more accessory's in the bag then this offers.
This is a bad product.. Not practical for a golfer at all.. I’m surprised Peter wanted to invest. The whole point of a golf bag is to keep my excess tees, balls, scorecard etc.. Can’t see any golfer buying this
No this time it was fair and pretty respectful he admitted that he didn't know much about Peter and simply wanted clarification about his specialties. I've seen some that were like "Oh yeah well who are you?" But yeah that irritates me like you're here asking these people to give you money, just not so much the people who do just seem very out of touch with the show and the backgrounds of the people on it. Keep in mind some of these people get approached at trade shows and they may never have even watched Dragon's Den or Shark Tank.

Lol these guys made a terrible decision. They didn’t even know anything about Peter and just shrugged him off as some random business man. Surely they regret it now
When peter said "quit your job if I invest", would he be willing to quit his other investments? I get it, he's an investor, but you can't just ask someone to quit their job as though you are worth more to them than a guaranteed substantial wage. Is peter prepared to give joe at least the same wage he gets already out of the company, thereby reducing the areas of the company he can influence? Ridiculous demand.
It's ridiculous to stand there and preach to an investor how much you 'believe' in your product and not work on it full time. If the guy is so confident of the potential then why not go out there and sell it full time. Duncan was right, It's not selling because not enough people want/need it.
A business & Job ? When you want to do a business you must be focus 100% on your business, if you belive in your business you can quit anytime your job. Do You want to work 3 hours per day for your business and 8-12 hours per day for Job as employee? If you are not ready to do everything for your business then nobody will do it!
i prefer to quit my job wage 3000 usd / month and to work to my own business for 500 usd/ month if i belive that in 1,2,3 year i will hit 1 milion usd. The passion is more important than money , money will come if your passion to do that business it is big, sometimes need sacrifices & take risk.
@@apbosh1 the product not selling is nothing to do with him quitting his job. Stop changing the subject. If they needed extra money, would it be right to go to the investor and change the offer? No. The investor would turn around and say "you need more money, you find it or you wait". I believe in my business selling t-shirts, but it would be nonsense to quit my job and leave my family worse off.
A little “birdie” told Evan that this “pitch” would be below “par”. Indeed, when the manager of the company joined discussions it was clear he was a “bogey” man from the start. Sadly the business wasn’t on “course” thus denying the entrepreneurs a personal “driver”.
Hahahaha... the guy’s realization at the end that, “Oh. Maybe we are just like the other inventors who think they can do it by themselves and hastily turn down a good offer.”
If the marketing lead guy hadn't had equity, I think Peter would have made firing him a condition of the deal. The guy is in charge of sales, but is only selling 2 a day on average. He gave away 1000 clubs but only sold 1250. Then, he leaves his brother to do the sales pitch to the Dragons without him, and when the brother actually succeeds, turns down every proposal Peter makes. I wouldn't be surprised if he just wanted the free publicity, but his brother thought he actually wanted a deal.
The annoying thing is you have to take it off every time you need to snap in or remove a club. A golf bag you can just toss the clubs straight into a bag.
Poor idea...a golf bag also keeps your clubs protected, and dry when it rains. Also, if you can't carry a bag around a ful round, you can at least use a trolley and still get good exercise...
Peters offer was negotiable to %20 if they had the balls, but still then all on offer was borderline worth it until Peter offered that celebrity spotlight... This access can cost well over the extra 120k that the extra 10% is "worth"
Asking a man to give up an Arial manager job of a recruitment company, with all its perks, possible company car, around 50k a year is a ridiculous demand, the man may have a family and a mortgage, for some product that may or may not sell. and to wait around to get paid not knowing if you would make any sales that week. once he said give up that job, i would have said i am out if i was him.
The usp of it is that it's supposedly significantly lighter than a bag. Indeed it is. But the bag is only about 10% of the weight of a set of clubs, brolly, balls, car keys, wallet, phone, jacket etc. So at best the weight saving is imperceptible. Plus, a trolley works fine.
4:13 I was literally waiting for a dragon to say what I thought lol it's far easier just to put your clubs on the back of an electronic golf cart and let the cart do all the carrying for you...
One function of a golf bag is to keep the clubs dry in rainy weather - the handles of the golf clubs go in first and the 'business ends' stick out of the top. The A-frame is open to the weather, so you'd need a towel to dry the club before you could get a good grip. I don't play golf but I've been a caddy for pocket money as a boy. Golfers spend a fortune on clubs and gadgets that promise to improve their game but this A-frame looks too simple, to un-macho to excite the competitive (generally) male.
"Don't be bullied Joe", as he bullies him.

A little “birdie” told Evan that this “pitch” would be below “par”. Indeed, when the manager of the company joined discussions it was clear he was a “bogey” man from the start. Sadly the business wasn’t on “course” thus denying the entrepreneurs a personal “driver”.
I see what you did there
murrmac yes I tried not to make it too obvious.
Was waiting for Evan's inevitable puns... They didn't come this time, but you've more than made up for it. Should have been fore-armed!
Guys... on that note I’m out.
@@Anna.T. Are you Jenny incognito?
Won't the clubs get wet ! 😂
Should have left him downstairs…. ✋🙄⛳️
Hahahaha... the guy’s realization at the end that, “Oh. Maybe we are just like the other inventors who think they can do it by themselves and hastily turn down a good offer.”
Felt like Peters offer was generous, was expecting 30%
No because they'd be giving away to investors 50% total.
Big fool is bullying the one with glasses
This is just a stand bag.
The annoying thing is you have to take it off every time you need to snap in or remove a club. A golf bag you can just toss the clubs straight into a bag.
That non bald dude 😂
I'm a Golfer - I wouldn't buy it.
What a complete plonker of a business 'partner'.. If he was my brother in law, I would do my very best to get rid of him asap!
Don’t be bullied said the bully 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Poor idea...a golf bag also keeps your clubs protected, and dry when it rains. Also, if you can't carry a bag around a ful round, you can at least use a trolley and still get good exercise...
absolutely dog shite idea
Peters offer was negotiable to %20 if they had the balls, but still then all on offer was borderline worth it until Peter offered that celebrity spotlight... This access can cost well over the extra 120k that the extra 10% is "worth"
I would have offered him 25% with the proviso if they hit repay him back within the first year his equity drops down to 12.5%
The thing needs wheels. Lifting, carrying, dropping it 70 times plus during a game will just be a nuisance.
What happens when it rains... wet grips...
They didn’t value the dragons…they didn’t even do research before coming on the show 🤦🏾♂️ silly men
Am I missing something?? What happens when it rains??!!
they dont play golf in the rain dummy
It holds an umbrella as well as the clubs
I was thinking the same. Your grips would get soaked!
@@andrewgarland5445 I do.
@@andrewgarland5445 I've certainly played in the rain, and the grips would be screwed. No wonder this shite never took off
Do the Dragons only have one project at a time? If not, why are they telling people off for having more than one project?
Asking a man to give up an Arial manager job of a recruitment company, with all its perks, possible company car, around 50k a year is a ridiculous demand, the man may have a family and a mortgage, for some product that may or may not sell. and to wait around to get paid not knowing if you would make any sales that week. once he said give up that job, i would have said i am out if i was him.
what does an "Arial manager" do ?
murrmac I believe they are in charge of a company’s little mermaids....
@@murrmac keeps the mermaids healthy
area manager i meant, i was writing so quick. i mispedlled , an arial manager would look after tv stuff i imagine.
The brother-in-law seemed like a real douche-bag.
Peter Jones could have asked the brother in law what he did to grow the business
I like the older episodes. Especially this building setting I just think it was the better series.
This is a clear cut example why you should run your business solo.
These guys could have wore better fitting shirts.... and at least of ironed them!
4:13 I was literally waiting for a dragon to say what I thought lol it's far easier just to put your clubs on the back of an electronic golf cart and let the cart do all the carrying for you...
You can see who’s invested money rather than time into the business
Peter's offer was awesome. Big mistake not taking it.
As a golfer this is a ridiculous piece of equipment.
as a golfer - sadly very little need or desire for this - smart dragons
how do you keep the clubs dry???
