100 % True, what your said. The very fact that you expect an attack at any time prevents you from being surprised. And many people now know that the most critical blows are the ones you don't see coming and don't expect. That alone is one of the greatest skills you can have.

Hey Brother. New subscriber here! Thank you for this insight. I got into boxing a few years ago with the best intentions. I just see now clearly that anyone can say they are a ‘coach’ or trainer, but few have the credentials if not the skills to actually teach and breakdown techniques properly. Since I’m only 5’8” yet I’m a heavyweight, I was lead to believe by a former trainer, that I could just simply emulate a Cus D’Mato peekaboo style based on a few head movements and things I picked up from the internet.
I see now how irresponsible it is of a ‘trainer’ to let a novice just get straight into sparing for example with little to no knowledge of even the fundamentals as you outlined in this video. Luckily I was able to think things through and am exploring different gyms now and trainers with legit backgrounds who have even had amateur fights and feel like I’m starting again from scratch. I guess better late than never.
    Thanks for the video.

Is there a general email in order to ask questions etc.. I’m definitely out of my prime. I boxed amateur for about 10 years, taught boxing but I never learned the Cus style. Also, can a person put numbers on their heavy bag and anchor it so it doesn’t move like the Willie Bag to practice the punches correctly and remove the anchor when you’d like to do heavy bag work. Also, when you throw a 3-5 punch combination in the Cus style do you slip, roll(knee bend) and move in general once you throw the combination.

I currently go to a local boxning gym wgere i live, and they have bags with numbers, but the numbers represent different punches. 1,2 jab cross, 3 left hook, 4 right uppercut to body/head, 5 left uppercut to body/head, 6 overhand right to head, 7 overhand left to head, 8 right hook. If these numbers are already ingrained into me, xan i keep using them especially at home where i have my own bags? Or should i try to re learn them the cus way?

Could you make a video on how to use the Willie bag for level 2. I’m feeling pretty confident with the first tape, from 1-7 consecutively, but the second tape I don’t know how to move my head after combinations. For example if we do - 1 we weave right weave left. But if if do a combo let’s just say example 2,3,7 does that mean since I end on 7 I do the, left right left slip ? Or do I slip after every punch in a combo(I’m guessing obviously no) Or if I end on an uppercut number does that mean I do the crouch weave weave ? It would be so helpful to visually see how to do it.

I don’t do boxing, but I discovered what I later learned most call the Cus di Amato Peekaboo on my own before I ever knew Cus existed. I do Pankration Wing Chun, a true martial art, made to survive, not game cock for ego or prize money, against multiple assailants wielding weapons from boots bottles fists rocks the cudgel and the cosh to blades and ropes. I simply thought to myself, how do you attack the enemy’s vital targets, while constantly moving your own vitals and not just evasively but to boomerang body weight momentum into the attack making every movement both offensive and defensive. Experienced combat veterans taught me a soldier who doesn’t move, is a dead soldier, who’s gonna eat a grenade. You have to hit, and move, and hit, and move, and sometimes move move move before you get that hit. So I divided the enemy’s upper body because the only 2 one hit insta kill switches on his body are in the upper body, the heart, and the cerebral coretex. There are other kill targets, but they are not instantaneous. A fatal femoral artery chop still gives him enough time to return the favour. We use all natural weapons, fist and feet, elbows and knees, shoulders and hips, some even use headbutts but that’s not the correct way to use your head, and of course we also use cold steel. Kicking can be lethal especially trained correctly, but our primary weapons are our fists, which trained well can easily dome a skull. A trained taekwondo man can fire a kick just as fast as a boxer can fire a punch, but he cannot do it backing up, and he cannot do it with the rate of fire and more importantly the rate of sustained fire, that fists can do. Animals with feet are food for animals with hands. Hands heal faster than feet. So we have a lot in common with modern boxing, except, we don’t wear gloves, train exclusively for reality, most of which happens in parking lots on concrete or asphalt, and train specifically to break bones. What you call in your Cus Peekaboo a 1 2, 5 6 and a 3 4, 7 8, we call 外門 and 內門 respectively, woi mun, loi mun, outer gate, inner gate, verbatim, or outside the gate, and inside the gate, because it’s not just your universe, you’re also in his world, he too has natural weapons, and he will use them, if you don’t shut him down. There are ways to cock block so to speak or check his trajectory so he can’t even fire the shot because your arms are in the way, because you got there first. The real secret to the ‘Peekaboo’, I don’t call it that, I call it the Avenging Angel, the Phantom Blitz, the Asura’s Ecstasy, Rolling Thunder, Reaving Dragon, isn’t just the targeting or the conditioning or the head and shoulder movement, all of that is of course necessary, but the real secret most people overlook, because they’re stupid and lazy, is the foot work: the lion fights with his hands and kills with his bite, but without his feet, he never gets in range. Shifting your feet and therefore entire mass, costs energy. Most people don’t want to do that. They are lazy, soft and marbled. With training, running down wild rabbits is easy, and fun. People don’t look at the foot work, it’s not sexy. We call it internal arts, because you cannot see a tsunami or tidal wave when it’s in the deep, you only see it when it overwhelms you. The synchronized feet and fists or the 9 and 13 dragon pearls as we call it, creates that whole body behind the shot, except the body can blitz and flank left and right at whim, exploiting the 3 second OODA loop on normies and 0.5 second blind spot on trained fighters or the 0.24 second blind spot on masters. Sometimes I do it at the park using a football or basket ball line painted on the ground as a guidance, remembering 3 out of 4 firearms victims in North America were shot within 5 feet, 98% were shot within 9-12 feet, and just have fun synchronizing and whirlwinding the feet fists and body weight into the enemy's spine, golden bowl, silver chord, without scaring people by throwing real power. People think I’m just in a good mood and playing. I am in a good mood. I’m not playing. The pink juice that comes out of the brain smells like bananas, a good shot will have their eye balls pop out of their skull when the fist enters their skull 4 inches deep. I know. My master who learned this executing enemy soldiers in the Vietnam War, taught me. And there’s the 七孔流血 qi kong liu xie, blood flowing from 7 holes.
Glamour cocks train muscles for show, they don’t know much about muscles for go. They train the biceps and the pecs, but they always sport chicken bone calves and chopstick wrists. Boxing is the same.
In the martial arts, it’s not what you see, it’s what you don’t see, that will kill you.
And I’ll give you this since your and Cus’ school or gym, is called the Catskill:
I saw in Taiwan 3 police German Shepherds try to kill a cat, 3 large trained police German shepherd dogs attacking in concert, against this one cat, and he held them off, they couldn’t touch him, his speed was that good. It’s now proven that cat speed and reflexes are faster, than snake strike. The trained human hand is also faster than snake strike, or even faster than a horse fly or gadfly. The alley in Hong Kong where I trained for years, Hong Kong is where the SAS and subsequent American Special Forces founding commando instructor, “cut his teeth” as they like to say in the homicide capital of the world before WW2, because it’s the only place I could find an outdoor wall not connected to a building for striking, we don’t use bags or bag work, we use construction 2 by 4’s, hanging on a wall, bare knuckle, for beginners that’s a concrete pillar or spine of a building with steel rebar reinforced, and they start with sand filled rough canvas wall bags, they're not ready for 2by4's for perhaps 2 years, but very quickly if they don’t quit in the first year, 96% quit everything they ever started not just their relationships, they quit on themselves, then, very quickly they’re going to have to find an outdoor wall not connected to any building, otherwise the entire building booms like a drum, thanks to cortical remodeling hypertrophy neuropathway activation synaptic syncing compound growth by orders of magnitude. Normies are just bags of meat, so lazy they can’t even succeed at fucking, hence the 85% lifetime divorce rate that somehow coincides with the 80% male obesity rate, they don’t understand the power of the human spirit focused patiently and consistently, week after week after month after month after year after year after decade after decade, and it really only takes 1 year to be able to deal injuries that ER surgeons only see in car accidents. I found an old wall behind a park, 44 feet deep brick wall, no one goes there but drunks to piss, delivery drivers to park their motorbike, and cats, lots of cats. I counted 27. In the summer heat, 35C, 95% humidity, with them pissing and shitting everywhere, and the scent of drunks pissing in the alley, it’s quite the aroma. It is just as well. Most men shit themselves, literally, when they see death. Death won’t take a rain check, and neither do real warriors.
It is well that you are teaching Cus’ legacy. Tyson is an idiot. He could have been a master coach and taught thousands of students. But he’s not a force multiplier or teacher. Too selfish, he doesn’t have the patience. And too selfish, "Why teach when I can make more money doing interviews and movies?" and apparently recently fleecing the goldfish one last time, a boring spectacle that of course was rigged that I didn't even bother to watch. Modern sports is just a money laundering front, and it's all rigged, as they openly told you ever since the world cup in the godfather and Alita, "No one's bigger than the game". He’s just a career criminal Cus saved. In the end it won’t make a bit of difference. Cast not pearls before swine. After we are gone, over a thousand year time line, Cus’ efforts in training Tyson will be as if they had never been, like bubbles of foam on the surface of the sea that pop and are no more, nothing is passed on. He was just a weed, not a rose, not a fruit, not a Holy Seed. The business of life and the Living God, is the living. In Chinese they say “a teacher will not get rich, neither will he starve”. In India they say, “If the poor boy cannot go to education, a true master will go to the poor boy.” Teaching the next generation and passing the torch of knowledge is the living legacy and way to honour those who came before and repay one’s moral debt. This is, The Way.
Kudos to you, a Hellenic word that means magical mystical glory, the onus, the burden, he who finds or is given a treasure, must also bear the burden of carrying it, until it is passed on, and also the privilege, to serve. This is the motto of the Levitical Priesthood hearkening back to King David and even King Yudhishthira before him, Ich Dien, I serve.
One of my masters, who taught the British Royal Hong Kong police elite G4 unit at the time, in his school he has only photos of himself. “It is like a temple, a temple to himself. He has real Kungfu but does not pass it on. What he teaches is watered down. He keeps the real knowledge for himself.” For this reason, he will not be remembered. Real masters don’t keep images of themselves in their school. They keep photos or tokens of their masters before, and are too busy nurturing and building and training their students to have time to worship themselves. The heroes of a nation are just the common folk, the little people, the diamonds in the rough, who never got discovered, until they are polished and honed by a master. No Merlin, no Arthur, no Chanakya, no Chandragupta, no Aristotle, no Alexander. A teacher is a force multiplier and an architect of the future. And tomorrow belongs to me.

While peekaboo is amazing for boxing, especially if ur a short stocky person with a forehead that is like a brick n a strong neck to support hits in case u duck into punches, which will happen. But if ur not then still train it a but so u can understand its weaknesses and fight better against it.
Needless to say muay thai or mma don't use this. Just a warning to beginners that don't understand the game yet

Works great for Muay Thai, just stay higher so you don't eat kicks or knee strikes. And keep the pendulum motion really erratic.

Let’s not pretend that the “Cus” style is “so effective”. We haven’t seen anyone use it successfully in decades and there’s only been a handful of champions who used it. The excuse that no one has taught it properly is kind of laughable if your credibility comes from those who were trained by Teddy Atlas. Did Teddy Atlas ever have a championship fighter use that style? No. Michael Moorer, not Tim Bradley or Povetkin. He actually continued having Gvozdyk do the complete opposite style. Teddy knew it was a fading style and only certain attributes could be carried on from it but not 100% implementation. There’s a kid name Raleek Born out of Brooklyn that would give any of your fighters trouble no matter size or age because of “his” style.

@ the general public doesn’t know about Raleek Born. The skills I see in that kid could never be defeated by someone limiting themselves to one style. A style that doesn’t even train how to fight from both sides of the line. The back angle is non existent, pull counters become limited. If you fight someone capable of pushing you back youre finished. There’s a reason a right cross was never utilized correctly by any of Cus’ fighters because when you’re so squared up the back hand can only be properly coiled by telegraphing or setting up with a jab.
