I've been going through this exact same thing over the last 3-4 yrs. My mom has dementia. It's hard to remember how many yrs it's been. I am her only child. We have "lost her" about 200 times or more in others beds or in their clothes. Sometimes they've exchanged each other's clothes or shoes. It's so hard. I have
to keep her amused as well as myself. I am the only person she remembers without a doubt !!! There are ups and downs & sometimes I leave her laughing😂 and sometimes I leave her while trying to not let her see me sobbing😭. It is a horrible disease. It may seem childish to say, but it's the truth, I just want my mom back.

I went through this with my mother. I had to put her in an Alzheimer’s unit that was smaller and more secure. My mother kept wandering around and going into other residents' room. She also couldn't find her way back to her room when she would leave it. Due to the progression of the disease, she started having incontinence issues because she couldn't find the bathroom. She had to start wearing diapers. It was also easier to manage her incontinence by letting her wear moomoos instead of pants, which can be difficult to pull down and to take off. What a journey! I'm praying for y'all.

I just wanted to let you know that in all my years working in MIU, You are one of the most precious daughters I have seen.. Most family hardly visit or they are in and out, but you are a treasure to your mama and to the caregivers where she resides .. Thank you for being you.. from the bottom of my heart. ❤

Take heart, my Sister. My Mom had onset of dementia a year before she had a massive stroke she didnt survive. This brings back memories of my endurance to keep her positive and calm. Stay determined.

I’ve never felt so helpless. My granny had it and it’s so hard. She does all of this and I have felt so overwhelmed trying to help someone who doesn’t know they need help.
You see both pants legs are up , you know that is the cue , she’s feeling herself lol 😂. Ms Gwen just is so chill , dnt pay Norma no attention 😂😂.

My Mom responds really well to music. I have a playlist with 70 and 80s RNB for relaxation. And one for bathroom time😮 all Gospel.
She reminds me of my mom. Your right. It's no joke! U have your hands full! They hate for you to tell them what to do. Lol My mom would roll up 1 pant leg at times & would walk the floors too. Their mind won't let them rest sometimes. They walk into other people's room. It's a challenge. Not enough staff at the care homes.
