Did the team doctor say that Roglic was okay or he himself? Because if it's the latter... he's the man who dislocated his shoulder mid-race, put it back in himself also mid-race and finished the stage. I wish he would stop crashing.

Death, taxes and Roglic crashing..
My opinion is that Roglic crashing so frequently is the result of not coming up in cycling in his teens. Because of this, though he was a professional athlete, he did not acquire the bike handling skills that riders who were dedicated to the sport when they were younger gained early on. Congrats to Gee on his first big win in Europe.
Everyone is crashing these days. The peloton is riding faster much more often than in the past.
@@johnnycab8986 But not everyone crashes as often as Roglic. His race hours per crash statistic is by far the highest of any of the UCI top 50 riders.

I like Bora but don't understand many of their decisions. They are not the team to let a grand tour winner do the work. They won't win the tour anyway so they should let the road decide.
@@7081_H Stop. Roglič was at a crazy level in the Vuelta last year after winning the Giro and has an elite TT that's carried over to Bora. Hindley (as good as he is) and Vlasov aren't beating Pogačar and 90% Jonas. Rogla might be able to.

At 5:00 with 330m to the finish Roglic is sitting 5th with a bit of daylight behind - he finished 10th. Maybe not related to the crash but not a good sign.
Moreover, the stage would have almost an easy win for Roglic few years ago I think. Sprinting on top of climbs is his speciality
His crash earlier in the stage can be accountable for this but it's hard to know. We will learn a lot of things about the shape of riders (Roglic and Remco Evenepoel especially) tomorrow.
he in fact did not sprint because why would he. He wasn't winning at that point in the first place. You can accually see him going out of the saddle and then deciding it's not worth it.

They realy have to teach some bike handeling techniques to Roglic at Bora if this keeps going on he will die before he retieres there is no way a rider can crash that ofthen unavoidably. Glad he didn't hurt himself badly. I hope he stays upright in the tour so we dont have the Pogi show all over again.

@barbaroacosta5335 I think much of it is him coming to cycling late relative to the rest of the field. Although guys like Michael Woods(a sub 4 miler as a 19yr old before he got on a bike)don't have quite the problem he had

He did back to back 7 hour rides on the trainer before he made it to the world tour. I think that he also said that he had to ride 1-2 hour loops and get back home to change bottles because they would freeze outside

Bora needs to dedicate a rider to keep Rog awake and focused, he seems to get distracted/bored at terrible points of races.
It's not just focus, relative to the average pro he's a genuinely horrible bike handler. Remember he came late to cycling. He's got a big set of lungs, but when it comes to actually handling the bike, he'd be at the back of the pack even among neo-pro or national level amateur racers.
@@biscaynediver eh, hes decently quick descender and he can do a one-handed wheelie no problem, so he's not completely awful, there are worse in there for sure.
@@biscaynediverhis stage wins in the TDF 2017 and 2018 prove that he can handle a bike. Above comment puts it well. Idk how good his positional skills are but the pure solo-riding bike handling skills seem fine, certainly better than what we see from Jonas for example.
Roglic is either the unluckiest top tier rider, or he is simply error-prone. I'm betting it is the latter.
I think it's a 25% 75% thing. The Omi Opi sign taking out a huge number of people right in front of him, or a motorcycle catching on a hey bale and dragging it into the road in front of him is some crazy terrible luck.
BUT, there's a whole lot more crashes in there that are on him, I think. :P

If Jonas doesn't ride I don't think Visma would have a strictly GC focused approach... but if Jorgenson's performance on long high mountain climbs is improving you'd have to think he'd be the leader. Kuss probably has a higher floor and Jorgenson higher ceiling for GC
