I love the worker who said stop asking questions when you know the answer and went back to work top stuff Plucky
Wow, Plukky, your regular updates on the build are truly impressive! It's amazing how quickly she's coming along, and you've definitely chosen the right place and people for the job.
These guys have great cense of humour.
Fantastic you get to know this girl from the beginning. Gonna be epic to watch the sides go on.
My bloody Starlink dish blew to heaven in a violent Australian storm. I'm glad I'm back again. Good to see the progress.
Love it, Love it, Love it!!! Peter, you have such a huge advantage when it comes to future maintenance. When your boat is complete you will know every square inch of that thing, just like Doug and Seeker.
For a caveman 😉 you've been really busy Plukky, if you're keeping up with that crew you're not goofing off. Top stuff. I'm super impressed with them, and how quickly you're getting out videos showing us. Well done.
Buena suerte y cuidate mucho.
I like that you showed the piece that didn't fit and required dremeling. 👍
Hey Plukky. These regular updates are truly interesting. I think you have chosen the right place and people for the job. Top stuff.
I don’t think that is totally correct. Without Peter’s commitment to undertake the Elcano Challenge along with a successful Kickstarter campaign we wouldn’t be seeing these build videos. And without Peter’s decision to commit to aluminium and originally build a Mumby there wouldn’t be this build. And if it wasn’t for Peter bringing Tim Mumby on board as a consultant Marko wouldn’t have designed such a boat. You may have also missed Peter’s involvement in the design process. Certainly David and Marlo’s involvement, along with David’s generosity and the factory’s expertise has taken this build to the next level. However to dismiss Peter’s contribution, along with all of his Kickstarter supporters backing is both disingenuous and ridiculous , and borders on disinformation and being malicious. With this apparent ill will towards Peter and HIS project I’m surprised you’re here.
Goodonya Plukky!! Your tenacity in the lead up to being in the factory has paid dividends! Well done!🧿🐝🐉🍄🐸🇦🇺
BTW I was replying to an ill considered comment by Teeanahara. To his credit Teeanahara has removed it. :o)
@@brentpenfold1795 I never belittled Peter’s drive in bringing this project to its fruition nor the factors behind the decision to do it at that location. I have been impressed by the level of detail and forward planning of the project leaders. I think this builder has very high production standards.
Goodonya Plukky! Your tenacity in the lead up to being in the factory has paid dividends! Well done!🧿🐝🐉🍄🐸🇦🇺
Its coming along! Hope your sponsors are coming in now that they can see the progress you are making.
Peter you chose the right shipyard to build your boat for sure. Lots and lots of cool progress.

LOL, can we get back to work now? That's awesome! Peter you must petal faster everyone is passing you!
Great people and they are the most important part of the build.❤
2024 will be great for your!!
Congratulations from 🇨🇦
Rob & Nancy ❤
I love your program. I have been following you since the Covid outbreak. I am a retired engineer, and I am glad you are getting a proper boat. You might consider providing details about your proposed challenge and how the design of the boat fulfills those needs. Keep up the great work and best of luck in your future endeavors.
She is definitely coming along fast, enjoy the build brother!
Great video Cap'n!! Looks so good! 🙏❤🇺🇸🇸🇭⛵👣🍍🍍🤗
Bloody awesome mate, I don’t know what it costs, don’t want to know, just amazed at yourself being allowed not only to watch your new home taking shape, but how you can film the construction. That says to me that there is no bodgy work taking place. Cheers ya big ears, mick Bundaberg .
Plukky Happy New Year. Is the very sweet nice kind Miss Lisa still a part of your life, I haven’t seen or heard or her name mentioned in along time. 👍😎✌️
Whilst you are there you should get the guys to teach you some welding, a skill that might come in handy in the future.
"Now can you quit asking questions you already know the answer to so we can go back to work." Peter, I think everyone you meet says that same thing. :) It's hilarious and I'm glad you included it. Keep on doing you!
Actually i don't know what they said. They are very polite so it probably wasn't that

Your boat build team has their Facts right, light weight, strong Aluminum is a GREAT choice.
Well I never thought a boat build could be as entertaining as quality coral but there u go good on ya Plucklee❤
How far you have come since being under that DECK in BOCAS DEL TORO, scamming the WIFI for your BROADCAST/UPLOAD, to where you are at now....
MOST IMPRESSIVE!!!
CONGRATS from WESTERN CANADA.
I guess the message from the young guy on the floor was:
Get Lost! Ha. The boat is really looking good! Will you give it a different name at Launch, than your last boat?
It’s January 1st, so first of all : all the best in the new year ! Secondly : can’t wait to see the finished boat in the water, ready to sail !
Looking great, coming along nicely plukky✌️✌️✌️
I have great respect for you for covering the distances without an auxiliary drive.
Please repeat your impressions of everyday life in Vietnam.
Good on you Albert. When we are low on power things may get tricky....the thing is to not get low on power
This is my comment and I'm glad to post it.
I am glad too...top stuff
Awesome bike ride and the beach
Love the updates Plukky!!
Coming on fast, good to see the sights a little too. All the best 4 2024 🎉
The most challenging part of this build, for the crew and managers, is likely dealing with ...................Pee Pole.
I agree!!
Lol I told plucky that the other day
Yes indeed!
👍
Now thats simple....Peter is the full time job...feel sorry 4 the welders
Top stuff Peter. How awesome having the “real guys” putting all the numbers where they belong.
HAPPY NEW YEAR to PLUKKY and The CREW🎉 AMAZING WORK BEING DONE
I can't believe how fast it's going. Most builds are excruciating to watch because you see no tangible progress for months on end. Great vlog Peter 🤗💞
Another interesting update - thanks Peter.
Good for you Plucky; The lightning rod is coming along nicely ;)
Unbelievable thanks for taking us on this ride..
Great video content. Keep theshines side up.
I like these build vids. You have the best team, well done.
Going for a ride , getting some exercise , seeing Vietnam, while the boat is in good hands must feel good
Continuing on to completion. Nice one Plukky.
Plukky .. Happy New Year ... Thanks for another great viseo and allowing me to tag along with your journey !
I can't wait to see you have a crack at using the machines!
Im loving the updates on the build. The crew seems really friendly and knowledgeable.
I have not been watching for some time .just started watching again .I'm glad you found the right people and the type of country who understands what your trying to achieve. Glad to see your dream coming together for you Peter. Australian's are a resilient bunch and where there's a will there is a way.👏👍good on you Peter for continuing your dream .
I don’t think that’s totally correct. Peter has help designed the Odisea. Without Peter’s initiative to undertake the Elcano Challenge and a successful Kickstarter campaign we wouldn’t be seeing these build videos. Fact. However David and Marco’s involvement, along with David’s generosity and the factory’s expertise has certainly taken this build to the next level. To dismiss Peter’s involvement is disingenuous and ridiculous.
Good on you Brent. Teeanahara should write children stories maybe
You're welcome, you're welcome, you're welcome, you're welcome (have to get past 7 words). It appears Teeanahara has removed his comment, so big credit to him. :o)@@SAILINGintoFREEDOM
So exciting to see the progress of this amazing project ❤
80% preparation 20% perspiration! Love it! Long live aluminium!
Bang on, Hero!
Looking good old mate. Bring on the stringers
Peter, would you please consider making a video on the history of the channel? Maybe talk about how you got into sailing, your first boat, what happened with it etc...
Hoping 2024 is a massive year for you. Good luck Mate.👍
Maybe put a playlist together with a selection of relevant videos? :o)
Puny, I love your videos, and I love that you’re making this video about the progress of your boat, it is very interesting, and I see that you are not wasting anything on potluck, you are doing it totally correctly, and to the point, I can’t wait to the day it gets in the water, I love your videos

Woohoo.....pineapple time. Actually no...gotta save it. Fitout is going to be a biatch ... thanks for the help
@@SAILINGintoFREEDOM I was thinking more of a beer for a good ol Aussie battler. My hats off to ya mate, that vessel is gunna be a bloody ripper 😎😎
interesting! quality boat builders!
Nice.
Thanks mate! 😊
Happy New year the6 P's of success won't steer you far of course.
Loving the build, Plukky. I expect a visit in the PNW when you are up this way,
B'ham here.
Cool. I am on Camano, but I am from Ferndale. @@kimberlydeann
Top stuff
Great progress!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Getting closer
It's happening 🎉
Great video its all coming along rather quickly
Nice work
Love the 3 P’s
What an inspiration to fortitude and having exactly the right team on your side Pluk. Well done one and all. P.S. Don't build it too fast, I'm enjoying watching.
The work ethic of the team there is impressive. Seeing the guy grinding with a burr bit as opposed to the laser cut opening was odd but, they can fill in the weld thats the beauty of using Alu-Mini-umM. Happy for you Plucky
Awesome love it. Thank.
You’d be right in your element there given your background. I wonder 💭 if they’d give you a job on the floor full time 😂 language would be a barrier. Other than that it’d be good to go Pete.🔥I could only imagine how humid it must get on the floor in the summer months.🔥😮💨
Happy new 🎉year cheers
Happy new year! What software was Tung using that showed the breakdown of the parts from the sheets of Aluminum?
How are you getting on with the food? Lots of chillis I hope. Put the sudo cream in the fridge just in case. Factory is unbelievably impressive. Great to see you out and about on the bike.
Great update. The team is top stuff. Cheers
Well i sure will be glad to see it sail
Beautiful process to watch
Woo hoo! Aluminum!
Love it every time u post a video they your closer to sailing again
Fascinating technology.
Keep pushing forward Peter.
Real good video of the progress of your boat build is going fast and great quality Jeff the Navy vet
Comment for the algorithm cheers Mate!
Probably🤔 ...currently.. M8 😉
🤞🏼🧙♂️🇬🇧 Happy new year.
Great bike ride!
It's going to be ready in no time Plukky!! I like old mate saying about our old saying with the 5 P's! Thanks for another awesome episode mate cheers and Happy new year mate 👍
The build is going well. Your a fit feicer cycling all that way.
These guys are sure prepared and organized. Now, as one of them said, "you know all the answers to your questions, let us go back to work."
Those Fishist clams and oysters....pogo sticks....when you see it you get it...possibly....slippery slope stuff but well intentioned!...😵💫😁😎
Back in the 60's I changed (jobs) boats from steel to Aluminum, and immediately ran into the recurring problem with corrosion demands, had to start a tight scheduled routine, this is 2024 and there may be new products for preventive maintenance but back then I was working on electrolysis on EVERY non aluminum fitting every morning . The aluminum rope horns became brittle around 7 years in and were replaced. I hope things are different for you..........good luck
Pluck were both hanging in there 2024 its gonna happen mate cheers n beers Marty Australia
I want one too . . .
Could you have ever believed what you have found here in Vietnam Plukky? I know there is a long way to go, but what a start.
Thanks Plucky been watching. Not bad for a little boat. Worst thing about it is when its finished your going to go inside and rip the interor out and throw it in the bin mate!
What interior. I just get the shell. There isn't an interior ha
Hey Plucky!! How many girls do you reckon that boat will fit?
The Cats coming along GREAT!! Peter. The bike ride seemed like a nice one. Sorry Hamas ruined things for you. By the way Happy New Year mate !
Awesome progress, it looks like you chose the best place to build Freedom! They appear to be building to very close tolerances.

Bad things about aluminium: Aluminum is anode to most other metals, so it will corrode when it comes into contact with other metals. Saltwater environments are especially prone to corrosion, galvanic corrosion, electrolysis, and crevice corrosion.
Painting: Applying an anti-fouling agent to aluminum is more difficult than with fiberglass, which can increase costs and make maintenance more difficult.
If not applied correctly, aluminum can blister paint.
Welding: If the weld is overheated, the alloy can crumble and degrade, which can lead to cracking or structural failure.
Watch dropping a penny in the bilge.
You forgot fatigue: Aluminium does not like flexion or vibration at all and will fail very quickly.
Typically 12 years before fatigue becomes a problem unless you have designed the fatigue out of the structure in your scantlings derivation. One other item is aluminium hulls are noisy, you hear every slap of water against the hull. No material is a perfect solution for designing and building boats, every material has it's pros and cons. Keep in mind with aluminium hulls (like steel, ply and foam sandwhich) the construction is very fast for the hulls because everything can be CNC cut and if designed correctly can be assembled like a 3D jigsaw puzzle. We designed and built a 12m Cat for the NSW Waterways Authority as a garbage clean up vessel for Sydney Harbour, the hulls were assembled and fully welded in 3 weeks. The hull construction is the fast and not so costly part of the build, where it slows down dramatically and the big money starts to be spent is in the systems installation and outfit phase. Also looking at the vessel I wonder if any watertight subdivision calcs have been performed? I know if Plucky had watertight subdivision in accordance with the classification societies it may have saved his previous Cat.
Peter needs to have a jar; so he can collect coins from crew members as they board. The Australian one-dollar coin is made of 92% copper, 6% aluminum, and 2% nickel. @@teeanahera8949
@@teeanahera8949 None of this is what ifs. Not every serious global cruiser is Aluminium. Grow up. Every material and design decision is a compromise. It's a question of which compromises you are happiest with. My own "global cruiser" whatever that is - is a composite hull and deck. That hasn't stopped me from doing 7-9000 miles every year from the sub antarctic to the tropical.
@@darrengoldsbrough1484 "12 years before fatigue becomes a problem" is based on what? Every panel has different stiffness and loads. Fatigue can be an issue very quickly in an inadequately stiffened panel subject to flexion.
Happy new year to you Plukky! Being able to recycle the aluminium is indeed very important. Because when your buddy decides to hit you with another lightning strike you'll be able to recycle your boat. I'm just kidding! (although it would produce more great content...) Your cat is starting to look very nice. I wish you all the best and many awesome adventures. Save travels and keep up the good work.
I so wanted him to say " the most challenging part is working with the Australian guy who films everything"
Wishing you all the best Plukky!!!! PayPal you 20 buddy
