The Odisea 48 from Odisea Catamarans has just started to get built in Vietnam. The design is complete, the paperwork has been done and now the factory has had 4 days to start the job and they are welding like madmen. Finally the wait is over, the Elcano World Challenge will begin in 2024 people.
Currently we are working with the English Wheel Bender bending amazing compound curves to fit a sleek performance catamaran, the Odisea 48. The progress is fast.

I've been building steel and aluminum ship's for twenty years and I want to say you have some very skilled ship yard workers and especially your aluminum welders .
What I like the most is that they seem to care a lot about the quality of their work. And they seem very efficient.
And there are lots of them ! Full speed a head and remember pee pole nothing but QUALITY !
Good stuff.
Welding is welding but to go make your own mega English wheel and then train the guys to use it correctly on a 6m sheet with lots of complex curves. That’s skill and next level problem solving. Wow👍
@@maccant4707 Frankly I'm baffled by it. This can't be the first time they've used an English Wheel. Usually it takes years to get competent at it.
Building a fast cat in a fast factory with fast commentary. Only missing is some fast sponsors! Come on guys get on board the Elcano Challenge train and immortalise your brand!! :o))
These vlogs are a brilliant advert for this company. They’re doing an amazing job! 🙂👍🏼👍🏼
It's a Vietnamese government owned operation. I looked it up. Remember that Vietnam is a communist country and the government owns the means of production. According to Google the shipbuilding industry there is a nationalized thing, and that's how communism works, so it makes sense.
And they make an English Wheel bender in two days, how awesome is that! What incredible craftsmen! You are so fortunate to have found them.
Those compound curves will set this boat apart from traditional aluminum hull construction.
The guy with the skill saw must have been thinking "Please, please, please, please...." I felt sorry for him, as I've been in that situation myself. There's no going back once you start, and there's no tomorrow if you fail. Lol
You'd better buy that guy a beer after he is done Plukky.
Peter.... find a place to stow some of this plate in the ship to use for repair in the event there is some structural damage. Also ask for a store of the welding wire they use. Having the right grade metal and wire could make a repair a lot easier.
Maybe a false partition that could be cut out?????
The 3D computer programs that can shape a rectangular shape into a compound curved shape are a great help. But skilled workers have been doing this long before the 3D models. It's just an amazing build.
Strength for rocks !
The music montage is a refreshing change of Plukky editing!
Mate ,you did great the Vietnamese boat builder is the best thing could happen to you , you now need a team of your own for everything that the boat builder is not going to do for you , keep doing the boat builder videos great advertisement for the boat builder
Those guys make it look so simple, though we all know it's not, great job guys 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
They do very good. work and you can see that they care about what they do. You my friend are going to have a very nice boat
Just goes to show how innovative these guys are, don't have an english wheel, no worries we will just build one in two days. Astonishing!!!!🍺
More technical words from you Peter , compound curve 😉 🇭🇲 .
hurry Puckky , Lisa & pineapples awaits you !!!
I’d love to see Lisa on the vlogs again ❤ she was the nicest person
With curves like this I am sure Odisea will do well on Instagram.
There are nice instructions for making a small English wheel yourself. Plukky is so enthusiastic that a permanent installation in the Odisea is obvious. :)
Keep up the good work my man! Your smashing it. ❤
True engineering. Have a problem, figure out a solution, and bring it to life. Good stuff Plukky!
Every week when I watch I grow more amazed at the progress. Top stuff Plukky.
These guys are so switched on. Well done.
Always the best, Plukky!!!
Can't wait to see the plating on!
James is going to be jealous of your new cat.
Yeah but James does not like cats anymore after losing his so he wont be going down that path again.
it is so fascinating to watch.
Paul and Sheryl Shard of Distant Shores YT sailing channel posted a video over 2 years ago of the factory where their Enksail Orion 49 monohull would be built. The episode is titled, "How aluminum sailboats are made." They showed in their video and others to follow how aluminum is shaped by the KM Yacht Builders. The Dutch used the bending wheel then that the Vietnamese are using now. While there are many similarities, there are many differences, too, for those who enjoy yacht building.
Plukky the life style Chanel’s need to pay you big bucks 💰 for this fantastic job on your catamaran project.🇦🇺🦘🦘🍻
Take a bow boys 😄
Plukky is the BEST content created alive
How many times, do I have to put the point across, that I was born at a very young age?
All kidding around... beautiful work , my Australian friend!
Many well wishes, from Canada!
👍👍
Hi, it looks more like a piece of art than a production work. They sure are pushing it a little to see how beautiful these hulls will be!! Congratulations to you for your choice of hulls builder yard. Impressive!!!
Just imagine what Vietnam went through from the 50s-70s, and look how amazing it is now. I'm impressed with the shipbuilding industry for sure!
You're a busy caveman Plukky, and it's been really interesting lately. Top stuff. Buena suerte amigo, cuídate mucho.
Gonna be fun showing it to your mate James eventually.
James will be jealous!!!
just awesome, thank you for being such an inspiration!
Need a tool you can't find no problems just build one.....classic.
looking forward to some more spearfishing with the girls
these guys are very skilled truly nothing but quality
Watch out Parlay race time is coming
Any sponsor would only need to watch these vids to see they would be backing the highest quality end product for their name to be on.
Good one Plukky. Fair go mate, those guys are fast. Before you know, we'll have a brand new cat. Can't wait. Thank you again for sharing. Take care mate.
Great work! Love to see this boat being built
It's incredible how fast this is coming along 😮🤗💞
Wish they also built long range powered yachts.
Laser cutting and welding of the bulkheads and stringers is one thing, but shaping those hull plates is a whole other thing, truly impressive!
Old school hand made, cannot get any better than that !!!
Been watching5 different wooden boat builds and this is the first aluminum build I have had a chance to watch ..................... interesting .................... enjoy
Hope to see you soon on the water Plukky! I can’t wait anymore… I miss the spearfish and the jokes with the girls. Grtz. from the Netherlands
Look at all the beautiful grinding, cutting, welding, and bending Good show. One of your best in the shipyard.
Loving the build. Smoothly forming metal in sweeping shapes over large panels is tough. These guys are good.
Such precision, truly you have a professional crew currently on board.
Bend on mate!
Got those flat pieces at the bow to stop the Bow from "Oil Canning."
When you were in Greece. I thought you were about to shit and fall back in it. However on futher review. I am very impressed on the build. I'm amazed how clean the shop is there. For being a shop... Technical question? How far is the water from where the boat is being built. It looks a little big to be hauling through town.
Next to river
These fellas dont hang about.. lol
Very intelligent people, if we dont have it then we build it 👍
It is a great advert for this company. They’re doing an amazing job!👍
Just amazing the talent of the team
4:09 - To allow plug welding since when the sheet is placed on the inboard side it can't be welded on the inside because the other side of the hull has already been sheeted.
Always enjoy the updates and your pleasant commentary
cant believe how quickly the build is progressing. Hope you manage to get a few firms to sponser you for what will be an epic adventure and challenge
Looking good. When is splash day? 🎉
Cant wait to see the first of those panels welded to the skeleton.
Amazing watching your catamaran being constructed. Design, technique, and workmanship are first rate. Thank you for showing all these daily episodes. So much more interesting than just having it show up completed one day. ...And the "like and subscribe" girls are entertaining.
Great stuff
like it a lot when you put some music over the fabricnoise…..great progress with your Odisea
Some beautiful curves right there Pete! I wondered if anyone had mentioned the idea of having a 3D printer onboard? The ability to produce your own carbon/nylon parts at the touch of a button would be the ultimate in self sufficiency! Could even print out a speargun or two along the way! I've already got some designs just for you mate!
Đội ngũ chuyên gia làm việc tuyệt vời trong lĩnh vực này "Amazing work crew experts in the field good day people."
Yay.
Nice work! They are really zooming along. Now if Plucky can just not run her aground. Lol
That’s some good sheet Plukky!
Fantastic Plucky!😎
A thing of beauty .... actually .... there are more beauties in the vid as well ..... a winner all round !!!!😊
Great project, what a boat. Can't wait to see on the water!
Amazing to see this build taking place ! 😊👍
Nothing but quality peepole.
Impressive solution to achieve building outcomes.
TAKING shape ❤
This video was a pleasure to watch, another Plucky classic to make our weekends better!
Yep they are onto it very professional ship builders.🎉
Excellent job they are doing. Very impressive. 👍
Danke!
Woohoo Danke . That is what the channel really needs
Awesome and efficient work they really know what they are doing!!
Its looking awesome great stuff
This build is very interesting as Traditional Wooden Boatbuilder there are alot of similarities to wood
I am so happy for you and your boat! I liked the the wander with music.
Gosh...we are really enjoying these construction videos.Great workforce and now your a top-flight documentary journalist type!
The only problem is the things a work of art...its fantastic and beautiful...I wouldn't like to see you stuff it up.a.reef like you're prone to.
My solution...get a crappy old bent one for near-reef work and preserve this beauty for clear water.
⚓️ very impressive🤙
these boys have mad skills...
❤love your Secretary 😂 Measure twice cut once hey, I’d measure ten times. 😮 Best Of Luck Plukky
This is awsome... please make this all the way.
Looking forward to every new episode ❤
Very nice , ps , from my limited experiance i would be mounting the 1st sheet just to make sure were didn't miss something 🙏😂
Nice work
Like the stuffer added to the bottom ya extra strong great if you miss something floating like this crew better n better. Jeff the Navy vet
When do you anticipate starting the Elcano World Challenge, not that you haven't already started by building a boat for it. I mean when do you plan to set sail on the first leg of the Challenge?
December...to Sri Lanka
@@SAILINGintoFREEDOM Oh rats. I was hoping for some time in the spring of 2025, just after I retire, so that I could join the crew for the whole trip. Oh well, there's still hope I suppose. Boat projects always take longer and cost more than originally planned.
makes you respect the guys that did this kind of bending with out computers in wood and steel.
Necessity is the mother of invention. Or so I've heard. Boat looks good.
Awesome video can't wait to see you out on the water plucky
Really impressed with those guys. Look forward to every update :).
