Hola Roger.
Thanks for the tutorial! awesome! But can you explain the operation of s-log2 \s-log3 in FCPX. Thank you very much and look forward to your reply. I wish your channel better and better!
Haven't really taken a deep dive to the different HLG flavours, but the main point is anyway HDR delivery, and for that having a wider color space (2020) should be the way to go. Testing by oneself is a great way to find out stuff though
I'm so glad to hear! I really think that Slog2 (and Slog3) gets a bad rep in 8bits because people try to do all the gamma curve and color interpretation manually instead of letting Resolve and the computer do the work for you. All the best and thanks for the comment 👍🏼😊
I just ordered the a6500 and searched your channel because I knew you would have great information about Sony color grading. Thanks for putting this together.
I wouldn't know 😅 I haven't use the Leeming LUTs, or any other LUTs for that matter... I often try but never get what I want/expect and always feel that I don't have the room to adjust. Since plenty people do use LUTs successfully, I'm sure it's user error on my part, but I stick to other working methods 😊
@@RogerinFinland Thanks for sharing. The Leeming LUT is intended to be a corrective technical LUT, and not one of those creative/stylistic LUTs - which I imagine is what we are trying to do with Color Space Transform - this is only why I had asked. The method you showed here is really good, so thanks again for sharing 😊
may i ask you what your color management settings are in the project settings for this method? it seems to change the result a bit 😊 thank you sooo much for the effort in your videos and helping us out! ❤️
Thank you for this great video! I am trying to shoot using slog2 but I get too much noise! Any ideas why? I try to keep my exposure to 0 while shooting!
Slog2 (and pretty much every other LOG format) requires overexposing, also called ETTR (Expose To The Right). I think that for Slog2 they recommend somewhere around 1 and 1.5 stops of overexposure. And these log formats (Slog2 included) are good at retaining highlight detail, but not great low light.
hi, good tutorial, I got a Sony 6400 and I use slog2, but I have issue whith the red color , it looks like orange and purple looks blue...how can I fix that? Thanks
Thanks for the comment! The first thing I'd ask is if you are using either a LUT from Slog2 to Rec.709 or color transform (like in the video), or if you have that issue grading Slog2 from scratch. Basically I wouldn't recommend at all to start from scratch without CST or a technical LUT. If using those techniques you still have those shifts there are two things to start from: is your white balance correct? If so, then you can still use the Hue Vs Hue curve, pick the color you want to shift either from the clip or the curve itself and then push it or pull it to the direction you want. I hope this helpsa bit at least 😊
It is easier to work in HLG, I do agree on that. I keep going back and forth with them. I'll have a video soon about Slog2 and HLG with the Sony ZV-1 😅 I'd suggest then to give a try, subtly, to the Hue Vs Hue curves then. With 8bit cameras I'd avoid qualifiers unless absolutely necessary, as they're very hard to get right.
Kiitos mielenkiintoisesta videosta.
Kirjoittamasi suomenkieli on hyvin ymmärrettävää! 🌞
Sanoisin varmasti ☺️ Sä voit kokeilla sen juuri saman workflow Resolvissa (sen free versio on loistava) ja yrittää tehdä ihan sama kun mä tein, paitsi välita Panasonic Vlog eikä Slog2/Sgamut. Jos ei toimi sulle, sitten olet varma. Minusta tämä Color Space Transform on toiminut paljon PALJON paremmin kuin mikä muita vaihtoehtoja. Good video. Is Color Space Transform in the free version of DR?
Thanks! Yes it is. At least it was in DR 15 free version, so I definitely assume that it is also in versions newer than that.
Have you used Leeming Luts before and does it get comparable results to this Color Space Transform? This also applies to Cine2/HLG3 footage?
