Love your videos Stuart. My Dad (who was a pretty good artist himself, especially with pastels) loved you too, but then he was a huge fan of Turner (and Constable when he let himself go!). We watched your videos often and intended to visit you in France for some tuition, but then Covid hit, and then my old fella passed away. He'd have loved this. Best wishes to you.

I deeply enjoy your work, that being said. Remember I hail from the High Plains of Colorado. Where it is mostly dusty brown and the skies are not cloudy all day. At times I can imagine what clouds and mud puddles would look like these. Currently in Kansas City, we aren't having clouds so much yet a simple blanket of grey...payne's grey maybe.

I watched a ton of these long videos, some more than once, while working on a graphic novel in 2022. It was over a year of work, every evening after my day job, and your matter of factness, confidence in craft, and deliberate looseness really helped me get it done. And since I sometimes worry that my work might end up having a brief lifespan, it’s nice to think how an artist’s work can influence people in many different ways other than how they might expect

Thank you for talking us through your adventures in painting. This one would be strikingly inviting to the viewer to "walk" beyond the trees if there were a very thin line of water to the left of the trees, broken by the little rise in the middle ground there; only two short, very thin water lines back there where the little bit of white lives. Just for fun.

Hi Stuart . You’ve inspired me to try out using large brushes. You make it look so easy! I do know that’s because you’re so good at what you do. Im really enjoying your videos and your chats make me smile. Keep it up! P.s. I use a non toxic medium called oleogel. It’s a little pricey but it helps the paint dry quicker

I love your videos. I can't imagine why people make such nasty remarks. They obviously hurt you, but everyone with a vlog gets these losers sniping at them. I love the way you talk us through the process with such a sense of humour. Painting is hard work, especially if it is the way one earns a living. I watch you and I am inspired, thank you. Thanks for the tips about paper, I have been doing that on a painting I am working on at the moment, but I am going to work more 'loosely' -a la Stuart- on a future one. One day I will see you in France, but a very sick husband has rather put paid to our trips for the moment..we have a house in The Limousin .

The art is in your process, but I really like some of your "artful" metaphors. "Slightly less than boring." or "Like pushing custard up a drain pipe" which I haven't tried but I "can imagine". Good linguistic gymnastics in your presentations!

Hello again Stuart, I just came across your video, from about two months ago. I really love this sky, very dramatic, according to your usual style of working. I could not help noticing that you were having to hold your board to stop it wobbling as you paint near the top edge. Some time ago I bought a new type of easel that had a similar problem of wobbling. I decided to add a flat piece of wood approximately two feet in length by about half an inch thick and about two to three inches deep. Having removed the top sliding catch that stops the board or canvas from falling. I added the slat of wood to the easel so that it lay across the upright section. Having foundvthe centre, I drilled a hole wide enough to bolt the top sliding stop to the wooden slat and onto the block at the back, which then allowed me to slide the attached slat up and down abd secured with a long bolt through the back of the slider and through the slat then through the stop piece and tightened everything together using a wing nut to secure everything to the easel so that I could move the slat up and down as normal allowing me to trap a canvas or a board resting onto the slat and held in place by the stop. The slat is sufficiently long enough to support the back of the canvas or board and prevent wobbly. It works well with any size canvas. Means I no longer have to steady things with my left hand. The added slat can also be used to secure a canvas by applying a little pressure from the top downwards and making the slot as a second stop. When attaching the original small stop to the slat, ensure the top edge is sligned with the top edge of the slat so that one ends up with a certain depth on the slat to rest your chosen surface on so as to prevent wobbling. Hope these detalails make sense. It takes about half an hour to make these adjustments but itbiscwell worth the effort.
Now for your painting, you are the master and I love the whole scene. Brilliantly created.
❤😅😊 as always Stuart, I wish you well.
    Paul.
