If you think about it, mumen rider really save all that people: he bought enough time to saitama to get there. If he would leave or not get there at all, genos and a lot of the people at the dome would died
Technically all of the Heroes saved the people since they all brought time for Saitama
Sting bought time for lightning max who stalled for puri puri prisoner and sonic, who stalled for snek and those c and b rank heroes, who stalled for genos, who fought the sea king for long enough for mumen rider to arrive, who distracted the sea king for long enough for him not to finish of genos and kill all the civilians for saitama to arrive and save the day.

There is no Class D ranking. Its more easy for the citizens to believe that someone that looks as plain as Saitama would only be able to take out a monster with One Punch because the other heroes put in their efforts before Saitama stepped in even though the citizens saw the seaking get killed with their own eyes because all it took was a troll saying that the seaking must've not been as strong as it seemed and another citizen to mention that he was the hero cheater of City Z. The mob mentality of it all.
great reaction. i'd just point out that Mumen rider isn't just sweet. if he hadn't showed up on time and taken on Deep Sea King right then and there, Genos would've died. Saitama would've been just late enough. So to me, his heroic actions aren't just sweet or out of a good place, but also leads to concrete outcomes. Anyway, hyped for the next reactions~
this is such a small thing compared to all the cool emotional stuff that happened in this episode, but (and this isnt really a spoiler because there is so much more involved in this and it wont even be brought up "when" they make season 3 because its not happened yet in the manga, just the og webcomic) amai mask's hair changing length is almost certainly a part of his ability.
Everybody loves Mumen Rider lol...which is a good thing because it shows that people still love good pure hearted guys

The author of the original story is a genius story teller. The story is in the foreshadowing subtext, and weaves together over time. You'll see a little bit of that in season 2 where subtext details from season 1 get referenced.

Mumen Rider could pick up Thor's hammer, ride the Flying Nimbus, and true successor to All For One. He is one of the bravest characters in all of anime.
Mumen Rider has the same voice actor as Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen, that's probably why it sounds familiar to you

The reason Genos can survive a lot of fatal injuries and body parts is because the only organic part left is his brain. 90% of his body is mechanical with some synthetic fibers like his tongue to mimic human anatomy but hes moslty robot. His head is also the hardest part of his body.

They both care about helping others to the point of lacking self preservation, as evidenced by Deku trying to fight the sludge villain without a power just like Mumen Rider tried to help despite knowing he couldn't do much.

I just want to point out, the little kid who cheered on Mumen Rider is the same kid who couldn't name him way back in his first scene.

But it's definitely not easier for heroes if Saitama becomes a villain because of this kind of treatment, he'll defeat every single hero with one punch or without even trying lol 😂
This episode had me really emotional which I did not expect from this show. It raised the show from a funny pass-time to a show with real stakes and an engaging story. "How far will Saitama destroy his reputation and livelihood to help others?"
True this was that episode that had all the heart, action and stakes.
Saitama is a hero for fun, now he just wants a bit of recognition, because maybe that would spice up his life (since he is bored/not challenged anymore).
He's not on the hero stuff for reputation, he's doing it because he want do it! In the Manga he does a lot of good things and never stays to get the credit, he's just a hero and that's it!

Yeah I think the bond between Mumen and Saitama with the letter too after being called a fraud, finally getting his recognition from someone besides Genos and Sonic was heartwarming.

Saitama sacrificed his reputation so that other heroes don't get their credits snatched away. That dude was saying that the monster wasn't anything special, so the heroes did nothing.
It's hard to say but the ugly annoying guy was actually speaking facts. The HA is messed up with the class ranking system, and with many powerful heroes who are just a**holes or with attitude and teamwork issues, and most important, because they put the most poweful being in the universe in C-class just for "failing" an essay. No wonder why ugly guy was like "wait what kind of joke is going on here?"

Btw on the manga the line he shouted was "if i dont take him on who will?" meaning its better for him to buy any second as possible even if he dies instead of abandoning the people crying for help. its what a hero should do.

The weakest and the strongest
U guys ignoring the fact that mumen rider saved Genos from deep sea king. He was about to finish Genos but mumen saved him by interfering the fight.

The citizens were ready to sacrifices the Heroes who lost to the Deep Sea King. It took Saitama sacrificing his credibility in the eyes of the public for the heroes to keep theirs😢
Mumen Rider may not be physically strong, but if he hadn't shown up when he did then Genos would DEFINITELY be dead, and most likely the monster could have killed a bunch of the civilians in the shelter too, this is what he meant by "winning or losing doesn't matter, it's about me taking you on right here and now!", even if he has NO CHANCE of even hurting the monster A LITTLE, he still has to fight to protect others even if it costs him his life, because that's what being heroic is really all about: fighting to protect people with little regard for your own safety.
Saitama understood this, which is why he sacrificed his own reputation to make sure that all the heroes who failed to defeat the deep sea king before him were given recognition; even though they didn't actually damage the deep sea king in a meaningful way, if they hadn't all tried to fight then the deep sea king would have reached the shelter like 20 minutes earlier, and everyone inside would DEFINITELY have died.
Mumen Rider is the best but then again so are Genos and Saitama this is just an episode of best bois
Mumen rider is my favourite, he knows he’s weak but still tries his best/hardest. He puts his heart into his work which is more heroic than the upper class in my opinion

Mumen Rider actually did a lot, Genos ows him his life. Without Mumen's intervention to delay Deep Sea King, the guy would've probably killed him before Saitama's arrival.
I always love watching the attention to detail in season one.
Especially the Sea King going back and forth between wet and dry versions from those fire attacks :)

The lessons from season 1 , and I suppose the whole series are so precious and uplifting imo
The way I saw it
For Saitama, his incredibly bland workout regime tells the audience
We all have the power within us to enact change within ourselves even if everyone else doesn't see the huge value of self determination and growth. And also it doesn't take special powers or magic to take the steps If you wanna change and do better for yourself. Basically it's nothing special, you just have to want it.
And for Mumen Rider, as he is obviously nothing special, he showed that even just trying and putting forward the effort can be done by all of us and the magic in it, is inspiring to others and could give others hope
If you really think about it, Mumen really did save all those people. The deep sea king was dead set on slaughtering all those people but Mumen Rider bought them all time until Saitama showed up.
And then after all of that Saitama comes thru and shows us that there's no point in trying to change someone's mind whose pov is already I'll conceived.
Act on your morals and beliefs, and let the chips fall where they may.
He saved all those people yet they still begin to question his impact and downplay him.
And so he just accepts it. Bc deep down his knows his impact and doesn't need validation even though he would appreciate it. Lol
I think one punch man is supposed to be "What if the main character start strong what it feels like it's like you play an RPG game and you start killing slime until you max all stats and start to move one and play the game"

Season 1 is mostly an introduction to some of the main characters and the type of world this is, the proper storyline will pick up from season 2 the main villain does get mentioned in this season but you may have missed it watching this first time

That crowds are awful, first they cheer for Mumen rider even though they know he can only get killed by the monster, but instead of helping him and fighting together, they cheer him to his death, while they cower behind. And then they start to belittle the very hero that just save their lives. Awful people.
