    So I dont see why it wouldnt work but I saw a comment saying how this will mess with the TPS sensor so I swung by my mechanics and he confirmed...unfortunately I think this wont fix the idle issue or will only fix it for a short while. Its got to be between (if i remember correctly 4.75 and 5.5 I dont remember the unit of measurement. Point being there is a small window and if you go too low OR high it can cause problems. None the less vids are appreciated. Your alternator video saved me the cost of installation.

      @@warriorplutotrent3827 if you have concerns like the engine running rough, or bad idle speed fluctuation and etc:
      Get some throttle body and carby cleaner, and spray it into the IACV intake port beside the butterfly valve in the throttle.
      Flip the butterfly valve open and do the same in the port on the engine side, it should be left to soak through the carbon deposits and whatever other debris is in there for half an hour, then crank the engine and step on the throttle for a moment so it doesn't die out being too rich.
      this should make the idle smoother and better, as well as increase idle fuel economy.
      if you have any other concerns feel free to pass em on.

      Also Toyota Auris 1.4vvti with same engine from 2006. no setting mechanical idle throttle. Only over ECU. There is a small nut like you have on old Corolla but they welded that small allen hole so you can not use it. Funny thing is everything else on the engine is the same, almost. Those engines from Toyota are bulletproff with timing chain.

  • @Carlos-67
    @Carlos-67 3 роки тому +16

    As far as I am aware idle speed cannot be adjusted with that Allen key screw on any engines with a throttle body. That screw is just a stop for the throttle butterfly and not an idle adjustment, which is electronically controlled. If you turn that screw in then the butterfly comes away from the throttle body and the air will no longer go through the idle circuit. What I have learnt in my 35 years of experience is to NEVER adjust your idling via that screw. You turn the screw until it’s just touching and then one quarter turn in. Idling is not adjustable on these engines.

    • @niaz.shovon
      @niaz.shovon 2 роки тому +4

      It comes in handy when your car stalls frequently at traffic stops, you can readjust the engine to idle at a higher rpm in such case. I think they put this adjustable screw for a purpose, may be for a temporary fix.

      on my 2009 there is a adjustment, there is a allen head set screw with some clear glue covering it, its right on the top.
      If you turn it to far, it will pop a check engine light, just reset the code, go in small increments, and I suggest you mark the setting before you turn it, so you can see how far you have turned it, and retest.

    Please help if you can. 2ZRFE 1.8 Digital Throttle Body, Ive relearned/reset/ battery disconnect,/ cables crossed without battery 20 minutes, replaced MAF x 2, replaced alternator, replaced camshafts sensors x 2, Crankshaft sensor, air filter, spark plugs x 3 times, coil pack x 2 times, injectors x 3 times, replaced head gasket and seals, replaced the coolant, changed oil @ 3000, changed transmission @ 10,000, replaced coolant fan, and preformed a battery reset and still having an idle whenever at idle and at warmed up plus whenever coolant fan kicks on it drops the rpm. Whenever I put ac on it smooths out. Oh ya I replaced water pump, Serpentine-Belt, timing chain, Crankshaft bearings too. Anyone wanna help.

    This does not work for the 2009-2010 models. They have an electronic throttle body. The car is also fuel injected.

      River Browning ... the man speaks truth! It's alllllll electronic. Disconnect the battery, clean the air flow control thingy, connect the battery and turn key to on...wait like 5 mins, then start. There'll be a shit ton of smoke coming out of the exhaust, that's the cleaner fumes, but then the computer will adjust itself to the proper idle. My idle dropped a few months later...I replaced the filter and cleaned airways, repeated the cleaning bullshit, and its runs fine. If the idle drops when the air con is on, clean out the gunk in the pulleys and fan. Make sure everything moves freely. If it's still idling like shit... change and gap your plugs correctly.

      The throttle position sensor is attached to the throttle plate for this engine. The throttle plate is the idle air control valve after the engine reaches operating temperature. The open loop is controlled by an actuator below the throttle body. The actuator is controlled by a coolant temp sensor. The actuator opens the high idle valve when the coolant is cold. Closes it when warm then the air flows through a tiny gap in the throttle body. That gap is made by that set screw. When the plate turns so does the potentiometer type position sensor.
