There's a tad bit of a difference between animating a 4 minute long trailer, and a fully fledged, 90 minute long animated film with this level of quality.

There was actually gameplay footage released quite some time ago. But assuming it ever comes out, expect the gameplay to be nothing like any of that footage. This is ubisoft after all, every gameplay trailer they ever released in the past decade is different from the actual game. I mean, just look at the first watch dogs....

I'll never get over this trailer I think, I remember watching it when it was just released and I literally sobbed because I've been waiting for this since 2003. But this trailer, specifically the last part on the ship with Dakini and the swell of music as the title fades in, will forever have my heart.

For the people who are angry over the lack of story connections to the original so far, you have the right to be disappointed, but this is giving the creator of Beyond Good and Evil a chance to develop their universe. I think a world as interesting as the one this series proposes would be amazing with the level of world building this game will provide. I don't think they should have called it Beyond Good and Evil 2 as it is a prequel, but I'm sure this will set up for the next narrative chapter. Really sucks that there will be more wait for the continuation of Jade's story, but the approach they are taking for this game is allowing for the series creator to display the universe he has created around the original. From what I read, the creator had planned to make a trilogy because of how massive his universe was, so I am looking forward to this. tldr; Really does suck to wait longer for Jade's story for all the original fans, but this game has so much potential for the Beyond Good and Evil universe as a whole.

The original came out about 15 years ago, if they made a continuation, they'd only be reaching the audience that played the original. This way, they can raise interest for the universe. This was the only way they could even dream of bringing it back after 15 years. No one's going to remember the original right off the bat, hell, I know I didn't.
It's been over 5 years, and though this game is NEVER coming out, I still get chills for the last few seconds of this trailer. When the theme music blasts out from a choir and the ship slowly warms up and then blasts into the unknown. But we can't go with the ship. We're still here. They're gone.

I feel like the creators and artists now have a better chance to make the characters exactly how they imagined them because of the way technology has advanced. They look fun and show more emotion. Having never played BGE I find this trailer to be really well put together. The trailer was refreshingly "grown up", though I can see how some might cringe at the language. Great animation and an interesting story hook.

it’s not that the swearing isn’t realistic, but there’s a massive tonal shift from the original BGE. you could argue that the fanbase has grown older, but that doesn’t mean you make the franchise super edgy in response. it’s just such a sharp change from the first BGE.
for example, if this was the language used in a GTA trailer, no one would be surprised because that’s part of what we’ve come to know from GTA. BGE never had that kind of reputation

A few days ago, Grand Theft Auto 6, the sequel to the universally beloved GTA 5, was announced.
By this point, Beyond Good and Evil 2 should've been released yesterday.
The vocals and language is perfect, lol.
Everything about this trailer is so beautiful.. From the whimsical yet mature nature and somber wrap off at the end. I wish Ubisoft would get this game out of development hell and continue this series..
Was randomly reminded of this trailer and holy shit it's still so cool. It's sad this game never came to fruition, but honestly I'd even love if someone made a movie based on this trailer.

I'm really looking forward this game. I know it looks completely different from the first game but it looks amazing. I feel like the creators and artists now have a better chance to make the characters exactly how they imagined them because of the way technology has advanced. They look fun and show more emotion. Can't wait to see some gameplay!
