Spent the afternoon playing with trains in a superflat creative world and I’m so excited to start playing with it in survival! I have the exotic birds mod (as well as others) and it gave me great joy having kiwis as my conductors 😂
I love the fact it's so similar to factorio's train signal system, the fact it copies the coloured-block-while-holding-signal feature to visualize blocks is so good
i cant wait till someone makes a train yard with a turntable in it, theres so many cool ideas with this mod i cant wait to start messing around with it

BEWARE when building large locomotives, especially steam ones. You WILL NOT be able to build large locomotives without its turning being rather jank. Pro-tip: use flywheels as decorative larger wheels
You could also create nested bogeys under the front and back of the main carriage. So, like, the main body covers them both but they are independent from the main carriage.
The train observers may be useful in another way too. If you are on a multiplayer world or SMP etc. and there's an illegal item to transport, you can put those just before the train station, so when the train stops, the people can get arrested. Probably on big servers. Also if I made a writing mistake, forgive me: My main language isn't English.

I randomly added this mod to my modpack and didn't realize you could make trains until I was looking for something using REI and chanced upon the train items, I was immedietly entraced and decided to scrap all my og plans for my survival world to drop everything and make a train. And after watching your video I've been messing around in creative for hours with my fully functional train! 👐👐 amazing video you were a great help

I don’t know how to link several trains but I think you meant to link carriages? If so you have to have a 3 block space between the bogeys. Hope it helped if it’s what you meant

Most mod developers release their mods on both Forge and Fabric these days, and more than a few of the big tech and magic mods are exclusive to Fabric, while others are exclusive to Forge. While I tend to prefer Forge (in part due to nostalgia), there are plenty of reasons to use either modloader, or better yet, to alternate between them as you would different versions of Minecraft.

In the Train schedule, in the condition time of day there is a parameter called Rotation and I have no Idea how that works because if I set it to every day it just doesn't work and every 1:00 it goes twice a day. Its very confusing.

So, is there a way to filter what inventory recieves what items on the train when using a portable storage interface? i'd want to keep a long-distance train stacked with burnable material, but if it goes into the vault, then that kinda defeats the purpose, ESPECIALLLY since you'd need to disassemble the train to refill
I guess you would only be able to filter before going into the train, so let a buffer chest recive items you want the train to transport and then fill the train from that chest
yeah youd need to filter before it goes into the train, tho also it doesnt transfer items if its in an unloaded chunk so idk how useful itd be for long distance stuff
@@jensdewit4572 When you set up the train station make sure that there is a large amount of track behind it. Then only glue the parts that you want to be in a car together, leaving an air gap in-between cars. When you form a train the air gap will be filled with a rod connecting cars.
Biggest question I'm still wondering even after messing around with trains is how do I couple a train engine to a carriage I made? Or is couple two different trains together not possible? I build a huge Class 37 Diesel and a Mk2 Carriage to go with it so I'm hoping it's possible to couple them.

Any idea on how to rotate the train on the track? Using a wrench will only move it and keep it in the same direction. Is there a way to rotate a train or i have to build turn around loops all across my track.

with the mechanical bearing on a circle that has train tracks, it will not work, due to the train tracks being immovable objects

I watched this to learn how to build a train; thought I needed to build an engine for it!? Apparently not, just controls and go!?

It works well! You can build a track off the side of a track line to make a split, then you can use a/d to choose which way to turn.
