Right people accuse him of being aspergers because of his arrogance, but I think that's just people are envious and jealous of him because of his greatness + arrogance sure. But what do you expect with someone who wins as often as he does and is on all kinds of PEDs.
The fact he is showing humility here and the passion for the game you can see makes him likable here though. Hard to tell how much of a personality in the media is just an act though, plenty of people act for the camera. But this seems to be the genuine him?

I think a good measure is when Gordon says "Dan is ridiculously strong, like 4 times stronger than anyone else" and then Dan going "Yea thats never happening" at 21:20 is an terrifying realization of how strong Brian is. Its not just weight and strength, its balance and technique that he got in a single session. Something that really stands out is that Brian as a beginner is very careful against his opponent. My experience is that people who are new usually go a little to far rather than a little less but Brian is the opposite.
Now imagine if Brian went all out with his 390+ pounds. Just the thought of having that weight FIGHTING you to stay on top of your chest gives me shivers. Thats like being squished by two fridges that try to put you in a submission hold while someone is occasionally slamming a sledge hammer in your face any time you get them up a bit.
Mad props to Gordon for showing this detail and technique! So much info in this episode alone!

He absolutely does have to use restraint when he has control and has to be aware and slow and deliberate getting started, because most injuries come from noobs going too hard and making mistakes. Brian is too calculated for that. He will slowly master piece by piece all the fundamentals and will be crazy technical through this process. Then… when he learns all that control, that strength will be put to some very good use. For sure.

Brian is now in his 40s, when you start getting older the body just doesn't recover quite as well from intense training as it did in your 20s, early 30s, etc. BJJ itself is very tough on the body and puts you at a high risk of injury, especially in the fingers and hands, spine/neck, knees, etc.

He’s “only” 6’4” but genuinely has the widest/ thickest frame out of anyone I’ve ever met/ rolled with to this day. He’s pretty lean, over 300 lbs, has wrists thicker than most peoples arms, and his fists look like literal hams. Just insane genetics/ bone structure. His son was pushing 200 lbs at 12 y/o just to give you an idea. I can only imagine what meeting/ rolling with Brain Shaw is like in real life!!!! I would love to meet him or Thor in person someday just to truly grasp how massive humans can be!!

45 years teaching combatives to a variety of personnel. Working vertical grappling and striking against multiple attackers to secure a dominant position within the tactical arena necessitates a comprehensive understanding of fulcrums and levers combined with anatomical structure to maximize dominant results. Gordon, your understanding of that, and your ability to convey it in a no nonsense, easy to understand format is second to none. This is the first time I have watched one of your videos. People really underestimate just how gifted you have to be to get to the pro level in the NFL, and never mind making it to a starting roster, or even a bench player.
Brock Lesnar tried years ago to make it as a Linebacker on to the Vikings, and he didn't make it past the practice squad. And he's way more agile, quick, and explosive than Brian is. So while it's fun to think about, there's a reason why less-than-one percent of all the football players in the US ever make it on to an NFL roster.
