    best no-nonsense how-to video i've ever seen on the net. 17K people have watched this video and your method is so simple that many of them would certainly have tried it. You've done great service to mother nature by causing so many electricity units to be saved. Seriously, you deserve an award or some kind of recognition for this.

    Great job. You may want to add the comment that a great portion (approximately 60%) of the heat rejection that occurs at the condensing coil of an AC unit is through these very fins that seem to commonly be deformed by unwanted contact. Damage reduces heat rejection and increases temperatures and pressures returning to the compressor, increasing its load and electrical consumption (i.e., decreasing energy efficiency). Straightening them out as you show in this video restores the heat exchange that was originally designed into the unit.

    My husband spent like 2 minutes using a metal comb he bought at home depot that didn't work before he came in asking me for a comb - luckily i had exactly what you pictured- he said your method worked like a charm - straightened out our quarter size hail damaged coils and cleaned all the much from 11 years.... thanks so much for sharing best video ever!!

    tried it and it works, not easy though with flattened fins - you need a fork or blade to get them started

    awesome... I just bought a tool like the red handle one shown in the beginning to use on my truck. doesn't work very well. I think I'll give this a shot.

    Awesome how too video. I've been looking at tools but I a going to try a fine toothed comb first. Have you had any problem with bits of comb getting stuck between the fins?

    • @dunkco
      @dunkco  8 років тому +2

      No issue with bits of comb at all , they wear down as seen in the video, but there is no residual plastic left in the fins that i can tell.

      I used a pair of needle nose vise grip pliers. Watch the video at about 5:10 on and you will see them when i cut pieces of and change out the comb.
