Hot tip, to paraphrase Dara O'brien, if someone calls themselves a "nutritionist" take whatever advice they give you with the biggest grain of salt... There's a reason why they use the title "Nutritionist" instead of the legally protected title "Dietician" because a dietician not only has to earn their title, they can't be self-proclaimed, but also dieticians actually have to present credible evidence and sources to support their claims. It's like the difference between a "Fiduciary" and "Financial Advisor" or a "Dentist" and a "Toothiologist".

I don't know why so many people concern themselves with estrogen and testosterone levels. They should be really concerned about how out of whack everyone is with the four humours in this century. I had myself tested by my local Apothecary and he said my choleric levels were way below what they should be. Bloodletting and blistering saved my life.

This is a five year old video but there is an important topic to be added to this discussion. The original idea that Soy feminizes men comes from White Supremacist beliefs in the 1800's that claimed men from East Asia were more "Feminine" than white men. The view of East Asian men led men in academic institutions to link it to the soy that was a large part of the diet in those cultures, similar to how they used the shape of skulls to "prove" that Black Men were less intelligent than White Men.
I paused at exactly 10:00 and the commentor legitimately wrote "I'm fairly sure also the only heterosexual out of all of them is the asian dude which explains why he has the highest level testosterone." Eugene (The asian guy in question) is gay, he has a husband, and everyone else in the group is straight with wives. This cracked me up
I’m a woman and the past 5 years I’ve been working at a sushi restaurant. I eat tons of tofu, I literally drink soy sauce like it’s water and I bathe in miso soup. A year ago I grew a third breast and as of today I’m the proud owner of 2 vaginas.
This is great news for the male to female transgender community! No more need for hormones or surgery, just drown yourself in a tide of soy and vaginas will appear!
This entire sentence is so stupid. It implies that there are disputable facts but a fact cannot be disputable aside from disputes about alternatives to reality (at least as long as we all inhabit the same reality) since the possibility of such an alternative would mean it's not a fact (or at least that we don't know yet).
@@ginkgothestink-o6949 True, it would instead say something like "In all the studies done on the jaundice caused by watching Shrek, we found no conclusive evidence to prove that there is a correlation or that watching Shrek can cause jaundice." Not just every single plant but also every single animal product you have ever eaten has already been genetically modified over the course of thousands of years.
I had always figured one of the reasons people assumed soy to be feminizing because of the toxic masculine hatred towards vegetarians, but I suppose that is just one of them
I think "soy boys" would be an endearing term for farm boys in my conservative state of Indiana, considering half the state is covered in soy bean fields.

This is extra funny to me because I’m Chinese and these people never even think about the fact that there are cultures that base their entire diet on soy products.
No no, they think about it a lot. But hear me out for a second, they are racists. They don't care about that because they already think Asian people are worst in some way and therefore see it as a consequence of soy. It's not that they don't think, it's that they are bad at thinking because the knowledge of the world they base their worldviews around is stupid to begin with

I would also like to point out that "nutritionist" isn't a job title or profession. The actual profession you're looking for is "dietitian." People who refer to themselves as "nutritionists" do so because they legally can't describe themselves as dietitians because they don't actually have degrees in anything (at least, not anything related to diet science), and would, therefore, be committing fraud if they did and could be sued or even imprisoned. So, if you see someone calling themselves a "nutritionist," that person is a con artist, and now, you'll know better.
I think it depends where you're from. Here in Australia, one of my best friends has done a uni degree and is a nutritionist. It was a 3 year degree as well so not some random 3 month course.
@@f_yu Many people who are Nutritionists will have degrees, but the original poster is correct that the title of 'Nutritionist' isn't protected by law*. So you don't need a qualification to use the title, 'Dietician' in contrast is protected by law. So not all Nutritionists are quacks, but also not all Nutritionists have any qualifications to back up their claims. *Apart from in Canada, where it is protected, but not to the same degree.
Can we all also agree that shrieking about soy is the adult version of “girls are gross and have cooties”? The whole concept that anything feminine is bad is peak misogyny.
Bad take. If it were true, that soy did increase estrogen, there would be plenty of reasons for men to avoid it. Just like how there are reasons many women would not want to take testosterone supplements.
25:46 also notable thay when reading kosko's article he states that Eugene (the Asian guy) is "probably the only heterosexual" when he's exactly the one that came out as gay last year. They just had to make yet another conclusion based on stereptypes that obviously turned out to be wrong.
"Nutritionist" is not a protected occupation and anyone can claim to be a Nutritionist! Thank you! I'm studying to be a registered dietitian right now (I've been in college for 4 years and I'm applying to interships so hopefully in a year I can be a dietician). There is actually a push to change the title from Regestered Dietitian to Registered Dietitian Nutritionist so we can seize the title from people who don't know what they're talking about (though many have mixed feelings about it)
It's crazy that people think they're more in danger of hormonal imbalance from drinking soy milk than drinking a pregnant mother cows' milk that's meant for her baby, which has ACTUAL mammalian estrogen. Beer has more phytoestrogens than soy, but as we know, phytoestrogens don't affect us like that, but if we're to claim it does, then beer is the least manly thing you could drink.
Imagine if soy actually mimicked estrogen, we could control our menstrual cycle by drinking soymilk and eating tofu at the right times. We could use soy as a contraceptive LOL. But seriously don't you think women would have noticed if soy actually did this...
@@shotgun6X I was joking, I was doing a parody of the alt-right idiots who believe such crap, but I will delete my comment in case anyone else thinks I was serious.
A 12oz can of beer has 13 times more phytoestrogen amounts than one serving of soy lol. Not that phytoestrogens have anything to do with anything. I just find it funny that people freak out about soy but not beer.

I'm transgender, and it's common knowledge in the community (because of HRT self-medication) that estrogen alone won't do SQUAT regarding feminization if you don't take testosterone blockers. Otherwise, testosterone in your body will simply overwhelm any effect estrogens you take might've had.
Exactly. Looking at the average test level is like looking at the average height of a man and thinking your body is fucked up because your genetics made you an inch shorter.
Same on the trans issue: I was gobbling 2 mg of estrogen and a weak dose of spiro (have went to the doctor and gotten a higher dosage) a day for months AND have been on a vegan diet for at least two years whilst still having a dark, coarse beard growing in a matter of an one-and-a-half week with little effects. The thing is, none of these areas are his speciality, because he's never actually studied them in any sort of depth beyond the conspirasphere and blogs. None of these anti-fems and most of the far-right youtubers and the skeptics have any understanding of what they're talking about because most of them haven't studied the topics at all, read any of the relevant material, and those that have studied a hard science, which is all well and good, but that doesn't make you any sort of authority on social sciences or philisophical concepts etc. I still cringe at Armoured Skeptic's "post-modernism" video, and all the other sheep bleeting "cultural Marxist" and "Frankfurt School" who don't know who Adorno is and haven't read any of their work, and then, like PJW, go on to make critiques of modern culture in a similar vein to how the Frankfurt School, particularly Adorno (I think), critiqued it, only they blame those very "Cultural Marxists" for what is actually the fault of neoliberal (I wonder if TL;DR has learned the meaning of this yet) capitalism.

The choice of the word brain here may actually be particularly sensible as it stresses the importance of your mind in training, which probably was what they have meant to tell their audience.
These people are threatened by a little bean which doesn't contain any mammalian hormones yet they'll eat loads of meat and dairy which contains mammalian hormones....sound logic.
I mean, the point of it not being mammalian doesn't really matter. D2 vitamin, for example, is a phytohormone, but works in the body almost completely in the same way, as animal based D -vitamin, that you synthesize in your skin under sunlight. And yes, vitamin D is a hormone (or a prohormone turning into the active hormone, just like D3)
Innuendo Studio's series called The Alt-Right Playbook actually has an interesting analysis of this kind of mindset, I believe the episode is called The Card Says Moops. Decide people are serious if you want to make fun of them, decide they're joking if you want to make fun of someone else. If you haven't seen it I recommend it, the title of the series may be misleading but its's a good leftist analysis of alt-right techniques.

Because their entire belief system revolves around the twin ideas of Objective Truth and Permanent Competition. They believe that there is exactly one correct way to live, and the only way to find that correct way is to constantly compare yourself to everyone else, in every way you can think of, and whomever comes out on top must be the Most Correct. Everything that cannot be reduced to a numerical score is irrelevant. Anyone who tries to claim that certain things are incomparable or that the rating system is flawed is dismissed as a Cope. It's completely irrational, but rationality is not the point. The point is to keep people engaged in a cycle of inadequacy and superiority, so men can point to these numbers as evidence for how much better they are than everyone else, while enforcing a submissive attitude towards men who can claim a higher score than them on whatever arbitrary standard they care about that week. I have a friend who wanted to go on testosterone to transition, but he had really high levels on his blood tests, so his treatment was delayed for nearly two years. It had virtually no visible effects on him, so he still needed HRT, but needed to figure out why his natural T levels were so high beforehand to make sure he wasn't dying. Turns out there was pretty much no reason for it. If I remember correctly, when it spiked in the mornings it spiked Hard at 150 ng/dL or so, which just happened to be when he got his tests done. But in the afternoons it would go back to the normal 15-70 ng/dL for his sex assigned at birth. It didn't show up as secondary sex characteristic because it was only high for a short period per day. He's now on T and carefully monitored, so all's well that ends well. But it just goes to show how weird and unpredictable human endocrinology can be. 'Normal' doesn't have to just mean 'a statistical majority'. 'Normal' can include the weird shit our bodies do that don't harm us but make for really interesting science papers

Holy crap. That is both interesting and sad. But yeah a lot of gender stereotypes have ties to racism.

I've read several people defending Paul basically saying; "Well, this stuff isn't his specialty, but when he talks about SJWs and immigrants he makes loads of good points!"
The fact that PJW is okay with blatantly manipulating the sources he uses so it fits in with his narrative is surely a bad sign for the rest of his content, regardless of the topic.

Some of the criticisms towards SJWs are valid, but I find these anti-SJW channels and their followers have become just as easily wound up by things as the people they criticise. The new Star Wars films being "SJW propaganda" seems to be a particularly popular topic of choice at the moment for them.

"I was only pretending to be retarded" but as a political stance.
@@funnyvalentinedidnothingwrong This definitely gets my blessing. Excellent use of the r-pass.

Minor update:
A: "X is true"
B: "X is not true, and here is why."
A: "Hahaha I was just joking I wasn't being serious stop making me look dumb. Anyway, X is true"
I've never understood why some men even care about their sperm count - that's like me bragging about how many eggs I have
Because they’re obsessed with the idea of “breeding” as much women as possible and yet have no plans to actually raise any children they produce
"You're better than all those limp-wristed plebs and normies, but you'll never be good *enough* unless you do what I tell you and live the way I want to to live."
@@Narokkurai what a sad and exhausting way to live
Sperm count and sperm motility both directly impact male fertility.
@@Ornithopter470 Which is something you're only going to care about once or maybe twice in your life. So long as fertility is some non-zero number, I don't really see the problem. We have so much medical technology dedicated to having kids that there's really no reason to be so worried about something like sperm count.
You have changed my mind about this subject and made me reflect more on the whole matter. But most of all, you've reminded me to make my own researchs instead of waiting for someone's video to tell me what to think about X or Y. I thank you for this. Have a good day.

Obsessing over who is an Alpha and who is a beta the way right wingers do is literally the most beta behavior imaginable
All comes back to "a real man does what he wants"
Which is a sentiment that still doesnt sit quite right with me, but whatever. Obsessing over whos the "real" and "true" man is just such sad and unhealthy behavior.
Yall are fine the way you are, the perspective of other people does not define you.
Jesus is Lord and Saviour and God in the flesh
Insofar as the notion of alphas and betas holds any validity at all, you're right - needing to define your masculinity based on erroneous observations of a wild animal and the belittlement of others... is pretty fucking beta.
XP spoken like a true beta
@@DrJams Brah, your fragile masculinity is showing.
Ironically, Eugene has the highest testosterone of all four and he's gay. Which is... the opposite of what these dusebros would think.
And still pathetically low lmao
Gay men can still have high testosterone...although Eugene's is still extremely low.
@@DavidW-ng5zv true. i think OP was bringing it up because lots of PJW fans and the like think that being gay automatically makes you super effeminate

Most men these days are very low T/effeminate regardless of sexual orientation, not just the Buzzfeed Guys.

Fan of skeptic community content watching your vids for the first time. Keep up the good work, we need people like you. The left needs people like you. Please continue shaming bad ideas!
Keep watching, he's got some good ass shit about video games too! It's also nice to see someone who just puts real effort into the 'video' side of 'videos on the internet'
Which skeptics are you into, and which major ideas in that community do you agree/disagree with? I'm always curious about this stuff, none of this is rhetorical.
Check out the Michael Brooks Show on the Majority Report, he's an articulate, intelligent dude who blends humour, wit, insight, knowledge and, perhaps most importantly, nuance as well as makes left wing ideas accessable, understandable and explains concepts that trigger the anti-SJWs in a way that I think a fan of the "Skeptics" would like and understand, and hopefully you'll join the cuckoldry!
Keep watching him like me, and you'll stop being their fan
And you are a credit to the skeptic community. Too many tend to be ironically unthinking, who just go with their first assumption on things and never let people challenge their views. I'm glad that people like you exist. Even if we might disagree on some things, it's good that we can do so with mutual respect.
Which is why there's a health range for stuff and its not just a random number
As the saying goes, there is no average person
Wonderful comment.
