    Hi. I recently did a back-to-back test drive of both the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X. I do not have much biking experience and it's been strictly city-based. I am someone who loves driving fast but sensibly and responsibly. I also took a test drive of the RC 200 and while it was a committed riding position I still loved it. But I'm worried about the high-revving nature and I'm not sure if KTM would allow me to ride at low RPMs.
    Coming back to the Triumphs, I felt the Speed didn't look as small as in pics and videos. It does have an imposing stance while parked. It also felt more natural while riding. The Scrambler, on the other hand, felt slightly unnatural and it felt like sitting on a camel vs a horse. I was interested in the Himalayan but after the Scrambler ride, I'm not sure if I would enjoy the ADVs as much. (I'm 5'11" so height is not the problem here 😅)
    But what worried me was the heat dissipation from the engine. My legs could feel the heat despite wearing full legged jeans. Is this normal for all 400cc single cylinders?
    (Btw if you've reached here, thank you for your patience 😂)

    • @18lakhvinder18
      @18lakhvinder18 6 місяців тому +1

      Yep, it's normal for the bigger engines to heat, and i presume that the test ride was in city so it would be heating even more. Don't worry you'll feel that only when you are at stand still.

    • @bhanuprakash7440
      @bhanuprakash7440 4 місяці тому +1

      Yes I too felt i am sitting on a camel . By the way I am 6.2 height . The handle bar was high . I felt in city driving is not going to be easy with this bike . Engine heat can be felt at foot . Engine reliability and spare parts availability is a big question

  • @criticalhit31

    "For shorter folks"
    I went to test ride the speed 400, but i ended up test riding both bikes.
    I felt the scrambler to be a better bike in terms of ride comfort.
    My only apprehension was that i am 5'6" but after riding the scrambler 400x, i was sold on the looks and ride quality. I took a chance and bought the scrambler 400x the same day.
    I did get the rear shock lowered which game me an additional 15mm lower height.
    Ive been riding it for the last 2 days and i love it.
    Can easily get one foot planted on the ground and that works for me..
    So, if ur 5'5" or 5'6", give it a shot, its manageable.
    Hope my 2 pice advise can help someone who wants the scrambler 400x but isnt sure coz of height issues.
    Cheers 😉

Fantastic VFM 🙌🏻✌️ wt i dnt like in d 390 duke are the vibrations and d not-so good engine noise (especially at idle and lower revs).. would love to see a comparo between the 2 frm ur side sir

    Most of my driving will be in Thailand in the city with occasional longer trips through the mountains. Some of my considerations are being able to lane split and my height (6'1" tall). I like both bikes but I'm wondering of the scramblers handlebars might be a bit wide to fit between lanes of traffic etc. Also, will the Speed 400 be too small for me?

    Humble question. Try to find out what Yamaha is doing in the Indian motorcycle scene with no new motorcycles and not even bringing their international models. Is Indian market still very immature for bigger and better bikes or is it due to the extraordinary taxes and high fuel price which is stopping all major manufacturers to fully be involved in Indian market.
    Expecting some sort of answers.

    I've already decided to go for the Speed 400, as I'll use it mostly in the city and might only take it for long rides once in a year (maybe do Umling La). Put on Ceramic Pro coating full body Triumph quilted seat, handlebar riser, and tail rack, Squadron pro aux lights, lower engine guard, BOBO B16M, Dominar mirrors, Kobra or Storm hand guards with weight and if possible run the footsteps of Scrambler 400X ( sensitive back, so I like neutral upright posture). Not specifically looking for a fast bike but a bike with good low end torque.
    The exhaust on the speed is more pannier friendly, I'd save the 40K (on road price) and spend it on accessories and riding gear mentioned above.
    I can't get my head over the LS2 thunder carbon fiber helmet, it's roughly 35K but has everything I want - light weight, wide view visor pinlock 120, less buttons to open/close vents. Open for any suggestions here.
