I'm a Shimano man myself but i have to say what campy are doing in that top top end is pretty desirable. I like the retro look with the old school looking decals.
LosihoTTT Not sure if you just watched the video but he gave a pretty comprehensive list of the specs, including pretty much every single component. Weight - no less than 6.8kg. Saddle height - high. Reach - who cares? Hope this helps!
filmevoncosima Nope. Not all pro bikes are exactly 6.8Kgs. At the Tour Down Under this year several bikes (Etixx Quickstep, Lotto Soudal (Henderson's Noah SL) and Lotto Jumbo Oltre XR2) were around the 7.5Kg mark. Luke Hattersley - thanks. Not sure if you were trying to be insulting. His setup is extreme, that's why I was intrigued to know exactly what the measurements are.
This setup looks almost identical to Ryder Hesjedal's Cannondale. They both seem to be riding a frame size or two small then fully extended seat posts long stems with 17 degree drops and long 180mm cranks.
timtimzi ni Dimension Data was the company the Tour used for the GPS transponder and all the stats for this years tour. If you are a stat geek, like me, go to the Tour's page and click on Data's link for all kinds of cool stats. *like the tour climb a total of 93,000 feet this year.
I suffered from pins & needles in my toes for a while. I was pretty sure I had my cleats set up with the ball of my foot over the pedal axle. But I still had numb toes. I read a website where it suggested pushing your cleats as far back on your shoes as they will go. I did that and have never suffered numb toes or pins & needles since. I can't say I run my cleats as far back as Adam does, but I'm sure there's a reason why it works for him.
LosihoTTT thankyou comment section, I may have to try this! I didn;t realise it was also a road bike thing, whereas on my mtb I slam the cleats all the way back due to downhills.
LosihoTTT Yeah i used to get numb feet on my MTB but never on my roadie and once i set back the cleats a tad it went away. You may lose your optimum but your body rules over in the end hey.
+PlantPedaler Yes, theirs alot of things, intricately, that pro's alter on the bike like moving the seat a mm etc...to get things to 'feel' just right... I know some even file the red spd-sls to get more movement than the blues offer... - guess its all about feel!
Noel Medrano wind tunnel for aerodynamics, with a power meter to make sure theyre still putting down power. aero doesnt mean a thing if you cant put out power, and power means nothing if your a giant windsail. then they try and make it as comfortable as possible. very difficult with a bar to saddle drop that steep and a -17 degree stem! but at the end of the day its about putting out power and speed with comfort as an afterthought to some degree!
Around the 20" mark in the video, take a look at the markings to the left of Zero 100. I have the same bars and I don't have so much of the markings showing when centered. That's why I suspected they're not centered.
With a name like that I expect the frame or tubes to be helium filled to make it lighter and shave off a couple of grams, could be the most awesome marketing trick lol
TenSapphires I thought this too. Then I googled some photos of Adam Hansen on his bike. Dude must have the spine of a snake and gotten a few ribs removed too.
Could you get some of the pros to show some inhuman feats of flexibility? I mean, I can touch the floor with my palms without bending my legs, but this bike? I'll just faceplant into the front wheel over the bars and be done with it.
+peter fahr I very much doubt any pro team would use Miche ones. I have, and compared to camy cassettes, they are rubbish. That is 100% a Campagnolo cassette.
That narrow bar size will cause damage to his shoulders long term. Pros are idiots when it comes to gear. Too busy looking cool to use common sense. What good is a super aero position when you're too wore out at the end of the race?
When he is in the drops, his back actually points downhill. Bloody bogan been doing yoga
I'm a Shimano man myself but i have to say what campy are doing in that top top end is pretty desirable. I like the retro look with the old school looking decals.
Um.....specs ? Weight ? Saddle height from centre of BB ? Reach from saddle nose to centre of bar ?
LosihoTTT Probably too inhuman to believe anyway
LosihoTTT
Not sure if you just watched the video but he gave a pretty comprehensive list of the specs, including pretty much every single component.
Weight - no less than 6.8kg.
Saddle height - high.
Reach - who cares?
Hope this helps!
LosihoTTT weight is 6.8kg - as all pro-bikes nowadays; and the other specs are meaningless without the exact measures of his body...
filmevoncosima Nope. LosihoTTT than you have seen them with wrong weights, I think. All the bikes you name are well under 6.8 and are weighted with additional weights
I absolutely love this bike!......classic painting and pretty classic geometry
I'll say it again, best looking bikes and kit in the peloton. Leave it to a Belgian team to come correct. Love it.
Five years on, this one looks sooo retro. Incredible, how much bike tech has changed.
Bit half arsed this week Tom, biggest seat to bars drop in the peloton and no measurements. Up your game.
Watch this video after 2 years, unbelievable sick setup.
Bike designers take note of this paint job! The simpler the better!
Holy bar drop Batman! Thats insane!
Adam Hansen has more miles on his legs than half the guys in the pro peloton!Love this bikes, cool geometry!
Thanks for putting the items of the bike in the description!
Best looking bike in the peloton by a distance
Thanks Tom!
How does this compare to your Helium?
The saddle is so high he could give me a high five on my Penny Farthing!
Michael McDermott You have a penny farthing? Ach, so jealous!!! I'm stuck on a plain old "safety" bike.
My favourite bike of the peloton
Can you guys do a video on how to choose components when doing a full groupset upgrade? I use Shimano Charis and am looking at upgrades.
all around beautiful bike
Hi guys. I caught up with adam last Christmas. He runs a 40cm handlebar set up
This setup looks almost identical to Ryder Hesjedal's Cannondale. They both seem to be riding a frame size or two small then fully extended seat posts long stems with 17 degree drops and long 180mm cranks.
Bella bici! I love the classic paint job!
Adam Hansen is my idol.
Does crank length relates to each rider's height and specialy leg length, or is it just a personal choice?
Can you tell please what’s the maximum size tyre you fit on the Helium SL .thanks
Saw Matt at the Derby velodrome last night - looking very suave in his suit. Still got it for an old guy haha! How do you do it?!
Lasty is the man!
Can you give an option for HD in 30fps??? 50fps looks horrible and gives me and probably others, motion sickness! :-(
Now this is a cool bike
+Global Cycling Network You should do more bikes of tall riders. What about Marcel Sieberg? Is his bike close to the weight limit or way off?
Tom had to do Hansen's bike review on helium gas.
That bike is huge! If I may ask, what is that thing sticking behind his saddle at 0:39?
timtimzi ni It's a GPS transponder. All the riders had one in this year's Tour de France.
timtimzi ni Dimension Data was the company the Tour used for the GPS transponder and all the stats for this years tour. If you are a stat geek, like me, go to the Tour's page and click on Data's link for all kinds of cool stats.

looks amazing! but my back is hurting just looking at that drop!
I could never let go of my 180mm cranks.
Wish they still had this color scheme
He mostly runs a 54 chainring too..His bike setup is crazy, a bit of a freakazoid
Tom that wasn't one of your favorite bikes?
180mm cranks -great for longer legs. Keep it proportional out there folks.
Hi. You should have measured horizontal distance between saddle nose and bottom bracket, because seems that is less than 5cm.
How I Can recharge the Electronic Shimano shifter?
External brake cable routing?
Crazy setup! This is the same guy who used to wear those carbon fiber socks. Haha!
My back hurts just by looking at that drop
Imagine the toe overlap with the front wheel!! How does he turn the wheel!!
the background music is better than lastys commentary
i don't understand why Ridley don't made the helium with these colors. Is very beatiful
He also runs almost mid foot cleats.
Hows do pro teams com up with there bike fit ?
Noel Medrano wind tunnel for aerodynamics, with a power meter to make sure theyre still putting down power. aero doesnt mean a thing if you cant put out power, and power means nothing if your a giant windsail. then they try and make it as comfortable as possible. very difficult with a bar to saddle drop that steep and a -17 degree stem! but at the end of the day its about putting out power and speed with comfort as an afterthought to some degree!
What's the thing that put under the saddle?
it's a gps tracker for the race timing.
How long is the stem?
My bars are narrow too...but I make up for it elsewhere...
Yassss Tom !!!!!!
Did anyone else notice that the bars are not centered?
They look spot on to me.
Around the 20" mark in the video, take a look at the markings to the left of Zero 100. I have the same bars and I don't have so much of the markings showing when centered. That's why I suspected they're not centered.
Abhirama You have to close your left eye, then the bars will appear straight
Abhirama at 33" you can see, that all is ok
No powermeter, 180 mil cranks, neck breaking saddle to bar drop....
that setup is unique
What's the length of the stem?
timmy HAR 150mm
adam when to the school i went to
With a name like that I expect the frame or tubes to be helium filled to make it lighter and shave off a couple of grams, could be the most awesome marketing trick lol
Um... Tom? That's an angled top tube.
Global Cycling Network I'm not sure campag make an 11-28 cassette (otherwise I'd buy it).
and here I thought saddle to bar drop was bad on the velodrome..... i can feel his back screaming from here.
frame size please?
Can it be that the setup of this bike was changed to ridiculous proportions just to mess with viewers?
TenSapphires I thought this too. Then I googled some photos of Adam Hansen on his bike. Dude must have the spine of a snake and gotten a few ribs removed too.
Interesting video but the background music that's been appearing on GCN vids recently is really off-putting.
Weight?
the paint job/ridley branding kinda takes out the aggressive look of the bike, especially with that stem
Tom is starting to be less of a brick!
So except for the length of the cranks, he likes a TT setup on his road bike.
I WANT ONE
When Adam Hansen's saddle is nearly as tall as tom last.
How in the world do these guys have their seat at level with their chest??? Their seat post looks like its 3 feet high.
Could you get some of the pros to show some inhuman feats of flexibility? I mean, I can touch the floor with my palms without bending my legs, but this bike? I'll just faceplant into the front wheel over the bars and be done with it.
Campagnolo do not make an 11-28. They do a 11-27 and a 11-29 which is probably what he has been using
+Aaron Coghlan Miche makes 11-28 cassettes for campy
ok, you have won. Have you tried miche instead of campy?
+peter fahr I very much doubt any pro team would use Miche ones. I have, and compared to camy cassettes, they are rubbish. That is 100% a Campagnolo cassette.
this position causes depopulation...
Why are there no lady presenters on GCN? There must be quite a few pro lady cyclists who would vastly improve your shows.
sweeeeeeeeeeeeet ride
That stem is just ugly.
ugly bike
