In Rainbows is a truly special album. No misses, every song is unique, and somehow the complex musical techniques at play never stop it from being super listenable
@@null-hi6dt I know that, of course. But basically all of their songs are sad, so when I hear the saddest, I really mean the saddest. So in HTTT, the last track is not in the top 3 saddest songs of the album, as for Kid A, it might be, but it’s hard to say
Thom has said he wrote Reckoner after he had a dream so good he didn't want to wake up. I always think of that when I hear it. Especially how the song kinda lets itself go in the end and slowly fades out, like a dream slipping away as you try to hold on to it.
"Nude" was a song they kicked around for years and played live but didn't record for an official release. If you ever find old bootlegs of their shows from the late 90s, you'll find tracks with early working titles, like "Big Ideas" for this song. There's a world of Radiohead music that isn't on their LPs.

@@AidanLonergan-bz1cp That's so funny because I discovered Nick Drake by listening to Faust Arp radio on Spotify! I'll look for that track specifically, thanks! 👍
Radiohead have so many great albums, but this is my personal favourite. To me this is their most beautiful collection of songs and I can listen to it on repeat forever.
The least depressing Radiohead album would be the darkest thing in most artist's discographies lol. I had a friend recently going through a hard time and he wanted some "sad" music recommendations, the saddest I could throw him. I'm like "Dude, I listen to this on a daily basis!" To each their own
I got to experience every one of these songs live when I saw Radiohead touring In Rainbow in 2008, it was incredible and beautiful and magical... I hope you get to see them live one day too!
In Rainbows is probably the Radiohead album I listen to most. It feels complete, no weaknesses. Weird Fishes and Reckoner are my favourite tunes but all are great. The lost art of the album in a sea of hooks.
What you need to do is listen to is In Rainbows from the basement where they do these songs live (along with a kid A tune a couple of HTTT tunes and an IR b-side) the only song they don't do is Jigsaw because Thom has a problem singing it (I think). The two basement sessions are among the best live music sessions iv'e ever heard and i'm almost 60 and iv'e heard a lot of live sessions. If you want to react to it the In Rainbows one has no copyright issues but the other one for The King Of Limbs does so beware.
I truly don't think I've EVER found a 3 track run on any album as good as Nude/Weird Fishes/All I Need. It's 12-13 minutes of pure transcendent perfection and I listen to all 3 regularly as my anxiety/stress calmdown.
The fact that we've gotten to the point in time where Tapout is now an ironic retro fashion has me ready for the urn. lol. Great reaction and I love your channel. You will grow if you keep doing these kinds of reactions.
Me personally, even the songs I have heard before, I still like to hear again when playing the whole album through. I like to hear how those songs fit with the rest of the album and how they transition.
You’re gonna get a lot more Radiohead suggestions lol. In Rainbows From The Basement is amazing but I’d probably listen to Kid A and A Moon Shaped Pool before going straight to reacting to live sessions. Not an objective stance by any stretch but that’s my thoughts lmao.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned it in the comments by In Rainbows was made in reaction to Ok Computer, and the two albums can be woven together. I believe it was also release a decade apart. The name itself follows the same pattern - 2 letters, space, 8 letters
As a huge Radiohead fan, I always recommend to people they check out Wilco. In particular, the albums Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and A Ghost is Born. They don't get much attention in the music reaction communities I see on YT but they are absolutely beautiful albums, and to me at least I think they are on the same level as Radiohead when it comes to albums that just have a very unique and consistent vibe throughout the whole record that makes you feel things you've never felt before.
100% agree with YHF and AGIB. I'd even add Being There, but doing them in order is important. Sadly, for me, they lost the plot after Sky Blue Sky. The latest EP has their best material in many years.
great reaction as always, i would recommend that you don't skip tracks you've already heard in order to get the full album experience! some tracks are even better in context. up to you though, not everyone listens to albums the same :)

By the way, there is a In Rainbows Disk 2, released some years later, with the tracks they recorded while putting together this album that for whatever reason they didn't think quite fit. You'd be making a terrible, terrible mistake not also listening to those songs. I can't even listen to In Rainbows anymore without immediately listening to Disk 2 right after. Similarly, there is a second disk to OK Computer released as OKNOTOK, that has some of the songs they often play live at concerts that date back to the OK Computer days but never before released on a fully produced studio album. Longtime fans were thrilled to have a proper studio recording instead of resorting to bootlegs from concerts. Kid A had something similar, with the album Amnesiac, which was released very shortly after Kid A, but is populated with the tracks they didn't think fit on Kid A, but were recorded in the same sessions. This can also be found in the compilation set "Kid A Mnesia" that combines both together. Anyway, I hope you'll continue listening to and reacting to more Radiohead in the future.
