Great rec and reaction. The “World” may be sleeping on TTB but through *years* of hard gigging and sheer musicianship they’ve managed to carve out a sizable audience, esp in this (AM)-radio playlist-dominated world. Plus they pretty much have universal admiration from other gigging musicians. Sometimes quality do break through!
Written by Mike Matthison, the back up singer on the right. Tuh-DESK-eee. I think that was Duane Allman's guitar Derek was playing there. Derek played for the Allmans in the later years and also toured with Eric Clapton. Susan won a grammy on her own as a solo artist. The album this song is off also won a grammy. More TTB please. They are like the only band I go see live anymore.
One of the back up singers penned this tune. I was privileged to see this band...they are remarkable, talented, and polished. Innovative, classic and original... Derek Trucks is Butch Trucks' nephew. Swear he's channeling Duane Allman sometimes. Susan's vocals are a slice of heaven. Thanks for covering this piece.
Derek Trucks is one of the all-time best slide guitar players out there. When they played this year at Byron Bay Bluesfest they were the one band Taj Farrant's dad he was slightly tongue tied to meet. I love that 15 yr old Taj Farrant played this same festival and was drawing the large audiences too. The kid (15) is going to be one of the all-time ever greats. Love this song!!!
My late bro-in-law (RIP Richard) turned me on to Susan Tedesci way back in the early 90's. It was truly ordained by the God of music for these two to end up together...match made in blues heaven.
Best slide guitarist around right now. Have seen these guys twice and they are unbelievable live 13 pc band tearing up the place. Tight and talented Susan can sing the phone book and this is just a taste of what Derek can do. They come to your town people it's a must see!!!!!
One of the beautiful thing about Derek Trucks solo on this song , which , though the theme of it & the build up he does is the same , but it's always a bit different every time he plays it Live . Now THAT is Pure Talent .
Live this a fantastic show.... You've got a never ending source of music in your subscribers ... I hate to speak for others here, but most of us love that you guys love this music...
Can’t wait for you guys to get after Playing for Change version of When the Levee Breaks! Susan and Derek are just a few of the great musicians and singers featured on the video! Love all you reactions!
This is an older video. Mike Mattison, backup singer, wrote this song and is one of Susan Tedeschi's favorites. Kofi Burbridge on keys has since passed away (2019) from complications from a previous heart surgery,RIP Kofi. His brother on bass, Oteil, now plays with Dead and Company. I think this song is amongst their best work, especially Derek's solo at the end of the song. Thanks for reacting.
I have seen them a few times. They blow the roof off whenever they play. One of my favorite bands. Susan Tedeschi is the beautiful mix of Janis Joplin and Bonnie Raitt 👍🎵🎶❤️
I first heard about Derek Trucks when he was playing clubs in Florida, when he was 12. Started seeing Derek Trucks Bands shows in Atlanta around 2004. Then he and Susan started doing shows called The Soul Stew Revival, so I started going to those shows. That become The Tedeschi-Trucks Band, and of course I started seeing those shows over the years. They just keep getting better with every phase they come up with. Derek is easily the best guitar player out touring today. Yeah, bring on more TTB.
I had the tremendous pleasure of meeting Susan in Boston during her tour following her "Rock Me Right" smash hit. Such a regular and down-to-earth person. No pretense, no celebrity attitude. Just Susan. It's been a pleasure to watch her career. My wife and I have now seen Tedeschi Trucks many, many times. I must admit that my all-time favorite is the cover of "Angel from Montgomery." Their newest stuff is *awesome* .... do yourself a favor and check it out.
Thanks so much guys, you made my day with this one! Derek is not only the nephew of Butch Trucks from the ABB, but he was a member of the band from ~2000 to when the band wrapped it up in the Fall of 2014. Here's a clip from the last version of The Allman Brothers Band where Derek and Warren Haynes and the ABB tear up Whipping Post live at a tribute for Gregg Allman. ua-cam.com/video/Rx_UaQx5eZQ/v-deo.html. Also, here's another clip of Tedeschi Trucks performing a cover of 'Space Captain' from the same show you saw them performing 'Midnight in Harlem":ua-cam.com/video/Nn8tfnF39ek/v-deo.html
You guys are certainly getting the music lovers treatment and shout out to those who requested this. I've never heard of them before, it's not within the genres I normally listen to but I liked it. I was intrigued seeing two drum sets, then the keys kicked in and I was hooked.
Glad you’re doing these guys! Man I love Derek Trucks; what a gifted artist. And Susan’s got SOUL. You might want to check out “Anyhow (Live in Studio)” by them.
If an Alien came from outer space and asked to hear what "American Music" was, I would play this band for it. They EVERYTHING American music through the generations, different sounds, styles.... in one band. Blues, Rock, Soul...all of it. 10/10 band. Check out their Tiny Desk to really catch who they are. Make sure you're sitting down.
You Gentlemen need to catch this band in person. A truly amazing show…. Every single member brings something to the show.. they really showcase the talent of all these performs.
Susan kills That Did It and many other's. This band did a LIVE performance of the Derek and The Domino's album Layla on the 50th anniversary of the release in 71
Best Working Band in the Business Today!💯💥😎👍 Both Derek and Susan had their own bands before marriage, and melded them into the Wonderful Band we have the honor of experiencing Today! LOVE THESE GUYS!
For whatever reason, Susan was on my radar years before I'd even heard of Derek Trucks. The whole band is amazing I'm a bass player and I'd LOVE gettin' this job!
Back in the day, I got to see him take the stage with Buddy Guy at Legend's for a couple songs. Don't recall the year, but I recall Derek was 15 yo. Seeing him up close was pretty amazing. His slide hand was like watching a hummingbird! Keep traveling this road, so much great stuff out there that ppl write off. 🤙
So glad you played this. This is an early lineup of this band. Keyboardist playing a hammond b3 Kofi Burbridge passed away since then and his brother and bassist left the band. They now have a horn section and the new keyboard player has a great voice. The also added a female background vocalist. They are what I feel the best live band out there now. So talented from front to back! Derrick Trucks was a child prodigy and played in the Allman brothers band along with his uncle Butch. During that time Derrick had his own band The Derrick Trucks band and had some great albums. And then formed this band bringing with him most of the musicians from his solo band! Great relations guys I’m really digging your channel! Thanks ❤👍🏻🌻
Such a beautiful tune...and Susan Tedeschi has such a great blues voice....love the way this song starts out so chill and then builds to that guitar solo...amazing stuff and musicians....
First heard these guys 7-8 years ago, and they're the best band I've seen come out in the last 30 years, imho. Have seen them a couple times live, and they were terrific.
His slide play, and particularly his play when he isn't playing slide, but still is playing a guitar tuned to play slide, boggles the mind of a mere mortal. When you tune like that, everything but slide is so wrongly placed, for the human hand....it's just genius to watch him do it.
Their story is interesting - Susan Tedeschi had her own band and played with Derek's band. They merged the bands, had two kids, got married and kept going. Love them. RIP the keyboard player, Kofi, he was awesome.
My favorite band touring today. Love the song and love the performance. With that said my favorite part of this video occurs at 4:03. I saw a ton of live shows in my younger days in Austin and caught my self doing what this lovely young lady did. Get so filled with joy it bubbles out.
Derek Trucks was the slide player for the Allman Brothers from 1999 to 2014 when they retired.... The bass player was the bass player Otel Burborge for the Allman brothers band through the same time period. The concert is Eric Clapton's Crossroad guitar festival from Chicago.... Derek played side for Eric in his sets at the festival also. Duane Allman is Derek's idol...
Great reaction! Love them! Saw Derek play when he was 13 and today he’s one of the best guitarists on the planet but he may be the best slide player on the planet!
This song puts one in a blissful state of mind; just beautiful. Next Tedeschi Trucks song: Acoustic Version of "Part of Me', performed while they are all sitting in their Jacksonville, FL studio.
The world is sleeping on this band. New album is beautiful.

I agree! Love the new album. HUGE fan here!
Just saw them last night in Orlando…was AMAZING!!! 🔥
@@Pilot545 Going to see them with my youngest 34 y/o son on March 2! Can't wait!
I read the 2000 year old story it's based on called Layla and Majnun. It's amazing, also!
You can truly feel when a band is deep into the music, and it flows within their souls. No dancers, no twerking, no fireworks, just big soul.
I agree. Have a wonderful weekend Clifton.
you have just been privileged to hear the greatest slide player on the planet
This is right now the best touring band in the world
This band live is unbelievable.
I think Derek Trucks is the finest slide player alive.
Merry Christmas y’all 🎄
Merry Christmas!!
💯 %
100%!!!!!!!!.... BY FAR......
No matter who your #1 is, Derek Trucks is on the slide guitar Mount Rushmore.
@@Tijuanabill absolutely!
Best band on the planet...and it ain't even close....
It's a shame this kind of music isn't the most appreciated
Derek Trucks, is the best Slide Guitarist today.
Arguably the world's best slide player.saw him quite a few times with the Allmans.
Derek Trucks is a genius!
This is a MUST SEE LIVE band! They tour often and sound amazing! Susan is only overshadowed by Derek. Both top rated guitars players!
Written by Mike Matthison, the back up singer on the right. Tuh-DESK-eee. I think that was Duane Allman's guitar Derek was playing there. I have seen them several times live, and Derek can actually make me cry with that beautiful slide work.
THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My late bro-in-law (RIP Richard) turned me on to Susan Tedesci way back in the early 90's. It was truly ordained by the God of music for these two to end up together...match made in blues heaven.
That note Derek hits around 7:02 that sounds like a sigh is just one of a million reasons why he's a genius
This tune falls all over you like a warm blanket...comfort music. Great reaction!
Best slide guitarist around right now. Have seen these guys twice and they are unbelievable live 13 pc band tearing up the place. Tight and talented Susan can sing the phone book and this is just a taste of what Derek can do. They come to your town people it's a must see!!!!!
All slide, al song from Derek. One of the Greatest guitarist of all time.
This band is one of the best bands to catch live: phenomenal musicians.
One of the beautiful thing about Derek Trucks solo on this song , which , though the theme of it & the build up he does is the same , but it's always a bit different every time he plays it Live . Now THAT is Pure Talent .
Incredibly soulful, brings tears to my eyes!
No matter how many times I have listened to this song....im always ready to listen again....
I've seen these folks three times. So much to enjoy!
Love that sly smile from Susan Tedeschi while Derek is wailing on the slide. "Look mom, no hands!"
Live this a fantastic show.... You've got a never ending source of music in your subscribers ... I hate to speak for others here, but most of us love that you guys love this music...
Absolutely , seeing an open mindedness to “New” music...I wonder if it will somehow change how they produce.
Dereks' solo at the end is just like a whole Allman Brothers concert was like. It's Transportational!!
I saw the Tedeschi Trucks Band at 'The Palladium' in London in November 2022 - they were amazing.
I first heard Susan doing solo Back to the River! Amazing and you will love it!
Saw them in London years ago. This particular song/video is a favourite, played often. Susan one of the best voices out there.
This is by far the most sublime live recording of the last 40 years in my opinion! I could listen to it on a loop for the rest of my days!
Fellas, you are listening and watching the greatest slide guitar player in the world at the moment Mr Derik Trucks
No one can sit still when they play this song....effin awesome music...
"Anyhow" - Tedeschi Trucks Band Live in Studio. Your soul will thank you!

I fell in love with her voice as a teen! Love me like a man... angel from Montgomery.... sing it out my lady!
Fantastic band and good people.
Bass player was killing it, beautiful!

Susan has one of my favorite tones. 💜💜💜

Any band with 2 drummers gets my attention!
Best live band out there. And Derek is the best slide player since Duane
No need to qualify it. Derek is the best guitar player, slide or otherwise, period.
Great reaction... A great band .. Great vocals and Mr Trucks always kills it ....

Oteil Burbridge (Bass) also is an ABB alum from the same period. Brother Kofi (Organ) unfortunately passed away a few years ago.

Derek joined the Allman Bros in 1999, not 2000.
